Your Bank Alt

Where should you park your bank alt, your character that use to pick up items from the mailbox and post onto the AH?

Traditionally, your bank alt would live at the mailbox in the city with the Auction House. Stormwind or Orgrimmar.  Now you have a massive choice.

Ashran (Stormshield, Warspear)

Pros: Easy to travel to/from Draenor. Portals to other cities.

Cons: Busy, could get laggy. No portal to Pandaria/Shattrath/Dalaran.

Pandaria (Shrine of Two Moons, Shrine of Seven Stars)

Pros: Engineering alts can access AH here, plus banks, transmog, portals to other cities. Access to the popular Guo Lai Halls / Vale farming spot.

Cons: Need engineering to access the AH

pandabank

Everlook, Booty Bay, Gadgetzan

Pros: Not many people now realise that these previously-neutral auction houses are now available to any character across the whole realm, as part of the joined-AH. So your posts here will appear in your local capital city also.  You can really hide nicely in these places.  Also each town has a really good supply of limited supply items that sell nicely on the AH.

Cons: These cities can be lonely, not much action, you won’t be able to trade with many players face to face. No access to the trade channel.

Dalaran

Pros: Three different AHs, here, plus access to professions traders (including ink), frozen orb trader, banks. Easy access to ICC, stormpeaks for ulduar and time lost farming. Dalaran was the new Exodar.

Cons: Citizens of Dalaran! Raise your eyes to the sky and zzzzz

dalatrade

Shattrath

Pros: Access to Sunwell Isle Quel’Danas, near to Outland limited supply route, near old fishing daily

Cons: The Aldor Lift.

Exodar, Silvermoon

Pros: Deserted, so much less lag.

Cons: No Flying! Getting lost constantly. Difficult to leave, except for the Silvermoon> Undercity portal.

Alliance Auction Houses

Stormwind – access to Cataclysm zones, traders, vendors

Ironforge – old times sake. Nice limited supply items

Darnassus – very quiet. Nice limited supply items. Can fly at the AH

Horde Auction Houses

Undercity – old times sake – close to eastern kingdoms access to SM for farming

Thunder Bluff – many cows. what could be better!?

Orgimmar – access to portals for cata zones. Trade channel. Busy city.

Items to move to AH cities

(Mages, you can just go away now, I’m not even talking to you anymore.)

Boots of the Bay – takes you to Booty Bay

Jaina’s Locket – Dalaran

Wrap of Unity – takes you to Stormwind / Orgrimmar

Which city is your favourite?  Which is the best for your alt? Why?

Mine is in Darnassus because I can fly back and forth to the mailbox, and sometimes I’m the only person in the city!

Also, if you want to see the auctions you’ve sold but haven’t made it to your mailbox yet, you’ll need to go to a major city. Those auctions won’t show in Dalaran or the Shrine.

I park most of bank alts in SW in the Dwarven District. But I do have an AH in my garrison on my glyph crafter. And I also have a toon in Shattrath City…for no apparent reason. But there aren’t very many people hanging out there. I do avoid Stormshield for the most part. I like to post my auctions in secret. Besides you have to take a tram to get to the mailbox!!

My bank alt is in Stormwind. I park him in the Dwarven District . It seems to be less crowded.
