Farming Major Protection Potions and Recipes

Farming Major Protection Potions and Recipes

Selling extremely well, for secret reasons, these protection potion receipes were added in The Burning Crusade.

The recipes are Bind on Pickup.

Here’s where to farm them.

Major Nature Protection Potion

Requires exalted with the Cenarion Expedition.

You can get exalted with Cenarion Expedition by:

  • Killing mobs in Steam Vaults (Zangarmarsh)
  • Handing in Unidentified Plant Parts (Until Honored)
  • Killing mobs in Heroic Slave Pens, Underbog, or Steam Vaults (Revered to Exalted)

Fedryen Swiftspear is at Cenarion Refuge, eastern Zangarmarsh, Outland.

Major Holy Protection Potion

Abyssal Flamebringers can be found at Forge Camp Terror, far southwestern Blades Edge Mountain, Outland.

Major Frost Protection Potion

A very rare drop from Mana Tombs. I didn’t manage to get my recipe yet.

Entrance to Mana Tombs is the one that looks like this

Major Fire Protection Potion

Drops from trash in the Mechanar,

The Mechanar is in Netherstorm, Outland, and is the dungeon to the right of Tempest Keep entrance.

Major Arcane Protection Potion

Drops from Ethereal mobs, Vir’aani Arcanist, which are around Oshugun, Nagrand, Outland

Major Shadow Protection Potion

Recipe is looted from Shadow Council Warlocks, mobs found at Legion Hold in Shadowmoon Valley, Outland.

Farming herbs for the Major Protection Potions

The ingredients for the Alchemy potions all include Mana Thistle and one of the Primals.

Primals are made from motes.

The easiest place to farm motes is at the Throne of the Elements, north Nagrand, Outland.

Primal Life

You can also find Motes of Life while you are gathering herbs with your herbalism skill in Outland.

Primal Mana

I recommend farming motes of Mana in Kirin Var village, Netherstorm, Outland.

The Mage Slayers and Mana Seekers respawn very rapidly.

Primal Shadow

Gather mote of shadow either from Mana Tombs while you’re collecting the receipe there, or from the  voidspawns near the ethereals in Nagrand while farming that recipe, or from voidspawns in Hellfire Peninsula, Outland.

Primal Water

You can fish Primal Water from nodes at the lake up at Throne of the Elements, Nagrand

Mana Thistle Farming

MAPS FROM WOWHEAD

Absolutely essential part of the protection potions, Mana Thistle is best farmed in the Ogre hills up behind Shattrath city,  Outland.

With an addon like gatherer or gathermate 2, you can check all the mana thistle spawn nodes and park yourself nearby waiting for them to pop then grabbing them quickly.

Unfortunately, as a well known area, I found it being botted on my server, so I went to another location, which is Skettis, south east Terokkar Forest, Outland.

This area is exceptionally good, because not only are there Mana Thistle herb spawns, also mobs drop herbs here.

Talonsworn Forest-Rager

Up in Skettis, these huge trees roam around the area.  They don’t drop anything significant but once dead, they can be herbed by a player with herbalism skill.

Good luck with getting your Major Protection Potions Recipes and crafting the potions.

Brokin the vendor for Recipe Frost Oil

Right now, in the middle of the year, is the best time to farm Frost Oil recipes.

There is often a glut of [Receipe:Frost Oil] during the Winter Veil festival, December.  This is because players bump into Bro’kin, the goblin vendor, up in Ruins of Alterac, while also doing the quests for Winter Veil killing the Abominable Greench.

When you get to Bro’kin, he doesn’t always have the recipe, as it’s on a timer.  Park your toon there, log out, and recheck him every half an hour. Keep doing this and buy up several copies of the recipe, for storage, before you take your character to a different location, perhaps to the AH to sell them.

Sell the Frost Oil Recipes on the Auction House for up to 2,000g per time.

Make sure you only post one recipe on the AH at once.  You don’t want the other players to know that this is easy to get!

Undermine Journal US prices

Why does Frost Oil sell so well?

The oil is a temporary weapon enhancement that adds a small amount of frost damage to your melee attacks, and can only be applied on low level weapons.

For players without a frost-damage spell, a melee weapon with Frost Oil is one of the very few ways they can damage Viscidus from Ahn’Quiraj, for the battle pet it drops. You have to deal frost damage in order to kill it.

The pet sells for 20,000g at level 25, at time of writing (2017)

Frost Oil

Don’t forget to learn one copy of this alchemy recipe.  The oil sells quite well on the Auction House from time to time.

Gold Making Prep for Warcraft Patch 7.25

Gold Making Prep for Warcraft Patch 7.25

What to Craft

What to sell when Patch Hits

  1. Vantus Runes
  2. Defiled Augment Runes
  3. Flasks and Feasts
  4. Enchants and Gems for new gear, especially Saber’s Eyes
  5. Ancient Mana Crystal
  6. Mounts. I know that sounds strange, but players will need extra gold to buy heirloom upgrades, and why buy one wowtoken when you can buy two and get a mount as well. Especially kep an eye on Sky Golem, Vial of the Sands, and the Jewelcrafting Panther Mounts.

Sell now

  • Cloth (Shal’dorei Silk) but hold some back as people won’t be farming so much at first
  • Stonehide Leather, but again hold some back.
  • Boosts – Ahead of the Curve with your guild

What to dump

  • Nethershards will only purchase ilevel 880, not new legendaries.  They are used for a catch up mechanism not a get-ahead mechanism. May I suggest buying the [Repurposed Fel Focuser] as a free mini-flask for your main and alts.
  • Any midsummer fire festival items you’ve been holding on to for a year.

What to hang on to

  • Hold on to Furystone, Pandemonite (to help support the high Saber’s Eye prices).
  • Enchant mats (again, to support prices).
  • Ore, again to support those gem prices.
  • Your unwanted crafted items.  You’ll be making obliterum for a week before the prices drop again.

What to farm or to buy

  • Defiled Augment Runes (try tanking/healing heroic dungeons when the satchel is up. Use addon ‘Satchel Scanner’.
  • Bacon, on as many alts as you can.  Expect the price of Bacon to DOUBLE, briefly, on the day patch hits. Might be the day before if your server gold makers are on the ball.
  • Pandemonite and Furystone.
  • Enchant mats.  Hold on to them for now until patch hits.  Don’t waste them now.  Buy off low-price singles and repackage for sale next week.
  • CHEAP mana pots and health pots, for making into Obliterum.
  • Transmog items. Buy them all now, for the transmog micro holiday in August.

Finally, level your rogue alt, for pickpocketing fun and gold making.

Whats been selling?

What’s been selling?

How to use this inspiration

Consider:

1: Where do they come from?  Where can I get one of these? How much do they cost? Are they easy to make?  What is stopping other players from getting them?

2: How much do they cost?  How much do they cost (in gold, time, effort) to acquire, compared to how much they might sell for?

3: How much profit could I make if I copied this? Are they selling at this price because they’re rare? Has the market been manipulated? Can they be flipped? (bought for resale) Can guildies or alts make some for you to sell?

How to Find the Magic Felslate Cave

How to Find the Magic Felslate Cave

Leystone Ore and Felslate Gathering in Suramar

But Gold Queen, I need lots and lots of ore, and I don’t want to bot.

Have no fear, the mining guide is here!

At this cave in Suramar you can farm lots of

  • Felslate
  • Leystone Ore

and you might get

  • Blood of Sargeras
  • Leather
  • Artifact Power
  • Meat
  • Starlight Rose

When I say lots I mean lots

The best place to mine in the Broken Isles is in Suramar, on a cliffside, which also has the “Magic Felslate Cave”

The hillside looks like this

Just look at all those ore nodes!

You can find the cave here, west of Moonguard Stronghold, just next to the border with Val’Sharah

The area is populated with satyrs and nightmare grizzly bears.

You can also get highborne chests here, and farm starlight rose. Ideal if you are a dual gatherer.

What’s so great about this Magic Felslate Cave?

  1. Lots and lots of ore nodes spawn nearby
  2. Inside the cave there are THREE ore seams
  3. There is usually one seam and one normal node available in the cave.  If there is less than one normal node in the cave, it means someone just cleaned it out.
  4. Outside the cave and above the cave is a very great concentration of ore nodes
  5. By server hopping, you can create the illusion of ore respawning before your eyes, allowing endless farming without moving far
  6. Dependable ore nodes

Felslate and Leystone Ore Farming Tips

  1. Farm during the daytime, or before/after raid time.
  2. Don’t farm after 2am at night, because the area is filled with bots, especially starlight rose bots, and there are less Suramar groups to use for server hopping.
  3. If there are a small number of available realms, then take your time exploring each one.
  4. If there are lots of groups up in Suramar, and lots of realms available, then target the areas where the ore nodes spawn the most
  5. Get hold of a good gathering addon.  I’m currently using Gathermate 2, and my maps are available to patreon supporters through Legion Gold guide.
  6. Finish farming your own realm/server before using server hop to move to another sever. Otherwise when you come back you might find all your ore has been taken!
  7. Look out for basilisks, living leystone/felslate that spawn from the nodes. They give you extra loot.
  8. If you are a double gatherer, with herbalism, then you will be in gathering heaven, with starlight roses spawning absolutely everywhere nearby.  If you’re a skinner, kill and skin the bears in the cave.
  9. Look for the seams in the cave.
  10. Look out for ancient mana crystals nearby, I’ve been selling them for up to 1000g each on the Auction House!
  11. Not sure which server you are on?  Drop a cooking fire on the ground in the cave of your home realm, and look for it when you hop.
