Hello
This will be a little different of an entry. I wanted to sit down to get everyone caught up on what was going on with the Gold Castle.
As was told in September, TGQ and the Gold Castle will be changing how we handle the TGQ newsletter as well as the Legion-Gold.com when it comes to gold making.
The newsletter will still exist. I will be writing that (The Gold Dragon, that’s me) as TGQ finishes up her college studies for her Masters degree.
While that is happening she will also be working more on the Legion-gold.com guide for patreon subscribers. That will be her main focus for the future. Of course she will write here from time to time when a spark hits. This will always be her home and she is important to everyone.
For the day to day and week to week writing I will be doing the writing. Hopefully I can keep the same quality in the future that TGQ has offered everyone for the past 11 years. Don’t worry, she will still have a wooden spoon at the ready in case I go off the deep end.
80/20 Percentage
Up til now, the newsletter has worked with an 80/20 percentage. 80 percent of the information has been free to all. With 20% being on the legion-gold site.
This percentage has changed at the start of October. Much of the information for gold making will be found at the Legion-gold.com website which is a patreon only website. After much discussion and a reality check, her majesty decided that she liked to eat and support her family and the knowledge that she has offered over the years is worth the extra cost.
Think of it this way. Currently a Patreon subscription has a suggested $10 dollar. That gives you access to the Legion-gold guide as well as to our Discord server with a specific channel with like minded gold makers. Both TGQ and I hang around that channel so if there is a dying question that someone has they can ask us directly.
If you’re like many, you are paying $15 dollars U.S. for a subscription. I have no doubt that if the principles that are presented with the TGQ gold guide and the Discord information you could be saving not only the $15 dollar subscription fee but also be that much farther ahead in your gold making future.
Purchasing items from the online store with gold. Digital pets, and the varied amount of items that can be found on the Blizzard digital store.
The Patreon support also allows TGQ to work on her degree, support her family as well as look at the future of The Gold Castle.
Future Is Bright With The Gold Castle.
As we continue on, there are more plans to give more to both Patreons members.
Some of the ideas that might be introduced into the future
– Patreon only Twitch streams from TGQ (and maybe even myself).
– One on One counseling on gold making.
– Discounts on the future TGQ merchandise.
– Access to Patreon only contests
– Affiliate Twitch streamers and expansion into different areas of WOW gaming (not just gold making).
All of these are dependent on what you want as well as the support that has been offered up til now and the future support.
The Future of the TGQ Newsletter
All of you are our castle members and you are important to us. That hasn’t changed and never will change.
The Newsletter will continue to be published on Tuesday and Thursdays during the week. Occasionally there will be ‘special editions’ if something comes up that is important.
This will allow the same type of research per article as well as time for both TGQ and I to keep to our Patreon commitments.
All of our subscribers are important to us. Again that never will change.
The future is bright with the The Gold Castle. Both her Majesty and I invite you to not only enjoy the ride, but invite others to enjoy it with you.
Good Luck and Good Profit Hunting
The Gold Dragon is part of The Gold Queen’s “royal” court. He began making gold his way in Azeroth 8+ years ago. Soon he took his menagerie of crafters and gatherers all the way to the legion HQ and beyond. I’ve always believed in helping people if they ask and showing people that you do not have to be a Goblin Engineer to make gold in World of Warcraft. Many of the lessons I’ve learned in obtaining gold in WoW I’ve also adapted to my personal life. I have gained and spent over 8 million gold. Spending on personal items and helping my guildmates. Dancing on Azerothian mailboxes for gold tips is just a hobby.

Talk like a pirate day is a one day event that happens in Booty Bay in Stranglethorn.
The event by itself is based on the unofficial holiday ‘talk like a pirate day’ which encourages people to well, talk like a pirate.
Pirate Gold Making Opportunities
With many events, there are opportunities to sell when people are in a particular spirit or thought.
In this case, we need to help complete the ‘pirate’ ensemble. Why be a pirate for one day when
you can be a pirate every day?
The Shirts
Tailors take the stage with their ability to craft pirate-centric items
White Swashbucklers Shirt
Red Swashbuckler Shirt
These two shirts require low level mats and some items purchased from the Tailoring vendor.
The pattern is taught by the tailoring trainer.
Black Swashbuckler Shirt
The Black Swashbuckler shirt is learned from a pattern that is purchased from Narkk in Cape of Stranglethorn.
Narkk sells this pattern In Booty Bay and can be sold on the AH for those that don’t realize it is a vendor sold item.
You can see on this server there aren’t that many of the shirts on the AH. Buying them out to double the price can net some well deserved booty (profits).
A little advertising in the Trade Channel can wake people up to their availability.
Swashbucklers ‘Set’
There is a set that is specifically called the Swashbuckler set. It covers all of the different armor areas.
It’s a drop from 40’s to 50’s mobs (this makes it more difficult to obtain after the changes of mobs and leveling).
The eye patch is the more rare and the more expensive of the set. So keeping an eye and reselling these
can net next pieces of 8.
Grouping all of the items and a little trade chat advertisement can give you an advantage over selling the individual items on the AH
Many players do not want to take the time to find the entire set.
[bctt tweet=”Want to be a Pirate all the time… Here’s how ” username=”theglddragon”]
Pirates need Hats
There are quests that will award a seaworthy hat, but in this case we have one in our tailoring arsenal that can be sold to those that want the entire pirate experience.
The Admiral’s Hat tailoring pattern is sold by Cowardly Crosby who can be found in The Cape of Stranglethorn.
Both the Admiral’s Hat and the pattern are BOE and able to be sold on the AH.
One you have added the pattern to your tailoring abilities, selling a few on the AH
can once again let you buy that gold peg leg (I promise, no more pirate jokes).
Pirates Need Pets
You are not a pirate without a parrot.
Taking advantage of your knowledge you can look to purchase a few of these colorful partners and resell them
to complete a players pirate ensemble.
The Green Wing MaCaw is a drop from the Deadmines. This is a resellable that can shiver your timbers
in gold and profit.
Hyacinth Macaw
This is a rare world drop from the Stranglethorn area. Either farming this or looking to flip a purchase of the cage in the AH or on a private sale.
Senegal
The Senegal is available from our good friend Narkk in Booty Bay. While you’re looking to purchase your Black Swashbuckler shirt pattern picking up a few of these and dropping them on the AH can get you some interesting sales on your tally-ho sheet.
(okay, so maybe a couple more).
Every Pirate needs a good weapon.
There are many different weapons a pirate can have.
A couple of the more interesting ones that you could net some good sales.
Tremendous Tankard of Terror
This item is no longer available as a drop in game. So when found and put on the AH from other means (players finding in old guilds etc) there is a high expectation to sell. It can be transmogrified (one of the few Mugs that can be) so a pirate transmog can add this and be the star of their own Caribbean show.
Steelscale Crushfish
This is a uncommon drop that only drops at the Darkmoon Faire area (so it becomes on fishable one week a month).
This places it in a high cost/high demand which is what makes it a strong candidate for sale/flipping on the AH.
Blackwater Cutlass
The Blackwater Cutlass is a twink weapon that drops from the deadmines instance.
With the level change it can range from level 15 all the way to level 85.
The item has an interesting habit of going up and down. A high level 85 can go for a few gold. But the closer you get to a twink range (lvl 19, lvl 29, lvl 39) the higher the item can bring.
It’s also a very nice transmog weapon once players see it. An item that gets lost from all the other items can be brought to players attention and sold for a hefty treasure chest (that one made it past the joke editor).
Every Pirate Needs Toys
Did you know that you hold the power to eat an item and become a pirate?
How about instantly turning someone into a pirate?
Savory Deviate Delight
This is an item from Warcraft classic that can be made with the cooking profession.
The pattern drops from mobs in the Northern and Southern Barrens.
The pattern used to be much more rare than it is now but many players still do not have it in their cookbook.
The item Savory Deviate Delight has a chance to turn you into a pirate or a ninja.
Another one of those items that can be used all year long. With pirates being on the brain, a little reminder that pirating isn’t just a one day a week can net some good sales (see, told you no more pirate jokes)
Set Sail for New Profit Adventures
One day a year, pirates become the focus of many players. But showing them the pirate way that they can be searching out
treasure every day of the year. While also adding gold doubloons to your bank.
What other items do you think could sell during talk like a pirate day.
Arrrr you ready to make some sales (last one I promise)

Warfronts : A New Gold Front
BFA Warfronts have become a very popular route to gearing characters.
Warfronts also can be a very good way of obtaining gold.
But before the warfronts begin, players need to turn in requested quest items to open up the warfront for their faction.
There are 11 different turn ins.
9 Profession based and two that include gold and war resources.
The idea is that each profession can have a turn in. But this doesn’t limit a player to turn in for professions that aren’t theirs as well.
Controlling Warfronts
While one faction controls the area (after a week of battles) the other faction begins to
collect for their chance to take over the area.
Each turn in gives Honorbound/7th legion rep (500) plus 500 Artifact power.
With a total of 11 quests available that totals 5500 rep and 5500 Artifact power.
You can see why this would make these turn ins very valuable to players.
How to Profit from Warcraft Warfronts
Lets separate this into two areas.
First The Immediate Gold Opportunities.
Many times the EU turn ins are announced. Going to your favorite World of Warcraft news feed, seeing
which turn ins are active and then crafting these items to drop on the AH.
For the more adventurous of gold makers you can flip these from the AH since they are going to increase in value and demand.
Increase in value means big gold into your coffers.
Samples of turn ins
Week of 9/17 (these will change every week so keep this in mind)
US Turn ins
The US turn ins are almost always different than the EU for their turn ins
EU Turn-ins
Now, this will be very active. Gold makers love things being active.
A volatile market can be both exciting and profitable
Your first line of profit is to craft or flip these items on the AH
Look at Straddling Viridium
With pricing like this, a flip really isn’t a good idea. But lets take a look at the raw gem market for Viridium
Now this looks a lot better.
Looking at the difference between the uncut gem (100g rounded) vs cut gem (244g)
you could see a prime candidate to raise the level.
You can either buy out all of the reasonably priced raw stock (leave the ones that are looking for big gold buys per)
then either list them at the higher price (Usually I will list raw stock at 80% of the cut value).
To go farther with your profiting hunting, find yourself a buddy who is a jewelcrafter and have him craft them for you.
Make sure you are being good to the person and either leave a tip or cut them in on the percentage.
This is just one of the items that you can flip during when warfronts are active.
With players undercutting, a market that is active can give you a chance to flip multiple times a day.
The next part will help you plan for the future rounds of turn ins
Now The Long Term Opportunities
The most important part of these turn ins is that Information is Power (and Time is Money).
Players that got the information on what the turn-ins were and jumped on listing/flipping these were able
to profit the most.
That gives approximately 2-3 weeks between rounds of turn ins.
The gold pack tend to turn to other options to obtain gold, ignoring many times a long term approach.
Information has been available of all of the expected turn-ins for the warfronts.
Each of the professions have 3 different items that could be tagged as turn ins for that round.
Also added in the Fishing/Cooking can be any of the fishes that are available in BFA waters
With this knowledge you can plan ahead for which items can be farmed or purchased as they dwindle in price.
Keeping an eye on the markets when the faction is in control of the warfront can give a head start to your sales
when your faction is working for control of the warfront.
The last item to look at is materials that are connected to crafting.
You should already be flexing your auction house flipping power with raw materials such as ore and meats.
With profession crafting being slowing down, crafting for warfronts can give a boost in the raw materials.
Especially for Jewelcrafters being able to prospect for the Gems used for the turn in and scribes milling pigments/inks for the war scroll turn.
Thinking outside the box can let you control an offshoot of the markets while everyone else is following the pack.
Thinking outside the box allows you not just profit from the basic crafting and flipping but being prepared to profit during the off times of warfronts.
Good luck and good warfront gold hunting

Announcement
In May 2018 we faced a difficult decision, warning readers that the website had “6 months to live”, unless we became profitable.
We said “We want to give you TGQ for free forever. But without support, TGQ is scheduled to close on 1 November 2018”
Since then, our founder, Alyzande, has accepted an offer to study a Masters postgraduate degree at university. A full time course.
We’re also not quite profitable.
The TGQ team have been making hard decisions. One option was to close down every part of TGQ, the blog, the social media, the newsletters, the video guides, the email support, and stop offering free coaching.
We didn’t want to do that.
Another option was to sell out. Plaster the website with adverts. Downgrade the quality. We didn’t want to do that either.
For 8 years, TGQ has been the world’s best world of warcraft gold making blog, dedicated to giving you strategies, tips, and free guides.
Our work has always been 80% free, 20% available to paid supporters.
Announcement: From September 2018, TGQ is going pro.
Instead of a 80/20 divide, TGQ will be changing to a 20/80 divide.
Our focus will be on providing information, guides, and content to patreon supporters, with extras for the free blog, rather than the other way around.
We may also close the Free Gold Making Email Course in the near future, depending on the costs. If you want to take part in the course, now is the best time to sign up.
How does that affect you, the reader?
The blog at www.thegoldqueen.com will still have articles by The Gold Dragon with occasional content by TGQ founder.
It won’t be quite as frequent.
It will still be the same high quality you expect.
The Patreon website, newsletters and video courses will receive 80% of the focus of time, content, and guides. Instead of 20%.
No more free coaching advice by email, only over web page comments, or on social media. Sorry but we can no longer afford to value our time at zero.
How does that affect you, the Patreon supporter?
This is the best part. TGQ is now *your* worker.
The change in focus means more videos for you, more newsletters, more information, more TSM strings, more farming maps, more addons, more of everything we can think of.
You support us, and in thanks we want to focus on you now, rather than on providing free content.
Where can you find the TGQ team?

The Gold Dragon on twitter https://twitter.com/theglddragon no o in gold
The Gold Queen on twitter https://twitter.com/thegoldqueen

The Future
We’re looking forwards to a day when the video guide is complete and released.
We’re looking forwards to a day when the TGQ website can have other writers and team members and return to full-time service. (Is that you? contact us!)
As for Alyzande, I’m looking forward to graduating with a Masters from my university, and spending time caring for the family before they get too old to need me!
UPDATE 2021.
Well that didn’t work out lol
In Battle for Azeroth The Herbs Farm You
Anchor Weed.
It’s worth a fortune and the supply is very low and will not get better before raids release on 5th September.
It can proc from Sea Stalk spawns, and from Winter’s Kiss spawns. In other words, around the sea shore/coast, and up in the snowy mountains.
Don't see how market will keep up with flask demand from raiders next week. Been herbing all the time and only have 16.
— Manech (@MichaelJPetty) August 27, 2018
To use this farming guide you will need the LookingForGroup addon.
You will benefit from having access to the Patreon-only Gathermate2 herbalism maps, but it’s not essential
I’m also using my druid in moonkin spec. I find a stealthed druid does not get noticed as much by other players when they’re realm hopping.
Druid for travel form.
Wild Charge for running away in travel form when you get dazed / attacked.
Night elf for /cast Shadowmeld and dropping agro.
Resto affinity for healing up when you get smacked.
Typhoon for blowing mobs away from you as you run to the next farm spot.
Also for Dash in catform.
This is a “get off me, I’m out of here!” Moonkin Balance farming spec.
Other things that can help:
Darkmoon Firewater, for faster gathering.
Gloves Enchants are also pretty cheap right now
Anchor Weed Farming Spot
If you park your character here in Drustvar, you can see at least 20 Winter’s Kiss spawn spots, and each of these has a chance to proc as an Anchor Weed herb.
But 20 potential spawn points isn’t enough for me, I want unlimited anchorweed! So if my own server isn’t enough, I’ll have to hop to the other servers instead.
This isn’t easy now that Server Hop addon and Cross Realm Assist addons are dead, but there is a way with the Looking for Group addon.
Looking for Group addon
https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/lookingforgroup
I’m still learning how this addon works, but for now, you can use it to jump from group to group. That’s another reason why I chose Drustvar for this guide: there’s very often a big group farming Stone Golem. A nice big group is good, so you don’t get spotted and added to an erroneous black list.
Open by typing /lfg or left-click LFG minimap button to open LFG
In the ‘Cross Realm’ window, choose default settings and just click Search
You’ll get something like this
Choose a server, make a mental note of the server name (so you don’t choose it again for the next few minutes), and Sign Up
You will be transfered to another server.
Check your minimap for new gold spots!
Run around and collect the herbs.
If you get aggro, use your Wild Charge in travel form to leap away quickly. Use shadowmeld to drop aggro quickly.
Then pop back into catform prowl before jumping to the next realm. That’s just in case when you pop on the next server there are Chillfur Yetis within aggro range, ouch.
Right click your portrait to leave group and then Search Again with LFG addon
You do not need to move. You do not need to run to the herbs.
The herbs come to you.
The herbs come to you.
The herbs come to you.
The herbs come to you.

The World’s Best Warcraft Gold Makers
TGQ’s personal gold heroes
Everyone needs heroes, and inspirations. Part of my job is to be an inspiration to you, to encourage you to make more gold. But where do I get my own inspiration? Here are some of my heroes and Warcraft Gold Makers. Some of them you will never have heard of!
Hikons, Umlaut, Faid, Aada, Sinshroud, Reth/Vahdis, Sheyrah, BilisOnyxia, and you.
NAME: Hikons
What’s special about them? Hikons deals in really big sales numbers, buy low sell high flipping, and rare items. His snatchlist must be something special to behold.
How to find them? https://www.youtube.com/user/hikons
NAME: Umlaut
What’s special about them? Umlaut is a warcraft gold billionaire, and does it all within strict ethical parameters. He doesn’t take advantage of mistakes such as missing zeroes on auctions, instead returning them to the seller, and making sure he keeps his golden reputation. He also uses his gold for good, helping his friends with game time.
How to find them? https://twitter.com/mogsaddiction
My @Warcraft #GoldMaking update:
My gold on hand (liquid) has shrunk lately, but the value of items I have listed on the auction house has doubled since last accounting. 931 million's worth is posted. Let that sink in.
My accounts are worth over one billion gold. :p #Warcraft pic.twitter.com/H9j0fuDIRu
— [NTG] Umlaut 🏳️🌈 (@mogsaddiction) August 25, 2018
NAME: Faid
What’s special about them? Faid used to run a gold making blog, and now has her own youtube channel. She is one of the cleverest gold makers I know, and teaches economic strategies rather than fleeting trendy farming spots. She was one of my TSM inspirations, incredibly good at TSM. She’s better than I am, it’s that simple.
Where to find them? https://www.youtube.com/user/goclockworkriot
NAME: Aada
What’s special about them? Aada is an incredibly powerful gold making expert, playing on 8 realms only, focused entirely on buy low sell high. Their knowledge of the real value of items is what has enabled them to make over 275Mil gold profit in 8 months. Follow them now for an insight into the potential for Battle for Azeroth BoE epics.

EU for the curious~1y worth of applying my same strategy on 8 realms. was 2x easier to get gold from players on Ravencrest than on Sylvanas pic.twitter.com/1WkwbiXGv0
— Aada / Eä (@AadaAccountings) September 28, 2017
NAME: Shinshroud
What’s special about them? Sinshroud was not the first warcraft player to discover auctioning items bought from vendors, nor the first player to snipe on the auction house, but he was the first to make public guides about it. He doesn’t play anymore, but I know if he came back, he would whip our butts with new ways to make gold that we’d never considered. I know him for his Outland Vendor Run, and for his Auctioneer addon sniping lessons.
Where to find him? You can’t.
NAME: Reth/Vahdis
What’s special about them? He’s the man you want to see about Battle Pets! He must surely know the value of hundreds of them, both at level 1 and level 25, and which are cageable, because he can turn an underpriced pet into a pile of gold by the thousands.
Where to find them? https://twitter.com/RethRethReth
Here are my four best mailboxes from over the weekend. 110 BoEs are still flying off the shelves at crazy prices and pets are picking back up with the 2 new pet collection achievements coming tomorrow! 😀 #Goldmaking #Battlepets #Warcraft pic.twitter.com/pwMYJyjheR
— Billy | Vahdis (@RethRethReth) July 16, 2018
NAME: Sheyrah
What’s special about them? Famous for her pastebins. Sheyrah’s skills are in crafting, turning piles of materials into strong selling auction house items, and in TSM. She put many many hours of work into her TSM groups and operations for import by you.
Where to find her? https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqDQVxz0Je-1crJAJXjNmhw
NAME: BilisOnyxia
What’s special about them? BilisOnyxia is known for his TSM Sniper String, used by famous gold makers like Sheyrah, But he also has a useful Battle for Azeroth pets TSM profile, and wrote his first addon for the BfA Scrapper. Another quiet gold maker who is a pillar of the community.
Where to find him? https://twitter.com/BilisOnyxia
For those of you who are in the Battle Pet market, I have compiled import strings for all 77 new tradeable BfA battle pets (base evrsions, level 1 versions and lvl 25 versions):https://t.co/VfUTqI391M
— BilisOnyxia (@BilisOnyxia) August 25, 2018
Just published my first version (-> chances are there will be bugs) of my new scrapper addon "ScrapMaster"!
It allows you to easily fill the scrapper and to start scrapping with a simple macro, but more importantly, it keeps track of the items scrapped and materials gained: pic.twitter.com/tvAsiGwESL
— BilisOnyxia (@BilisOnyxia) August 23, 2018
NAME: You
What’s special about them? For a start, you are here, on my website, so you’ve been searching for ways to learn more about gold making. You’re improving yourself and you’re investing in yourself. That means you’re going places, friend.
Where to find them? In your local mirror.
