Making Gold in Battle for Azeroth Prepatch – Auction House Sales!

If you have not sold your stock of excess ore, herbs, and so forth, then you will be competing with all the other panicing world of warcraft players. What To Plant At Halfhill Farm

Plant either Spirits of Harmony or Ghost Iron /Trillium ore at your farm in Pandaria.

There’s a short quest line to open your farm at Halfhill.

If you already have your farm, don’t forget it!

Daily Gold Farming

You don’t need to add your Halfhill Farm (Sunsong Ranch) into your daily routine, just like you don’t need to add your Draenor garrison into your daily routine UNLESS you want something that you can get from there.

For me, that meant Spirits of Harmony until recently.

But now I have plenty of Spirits of Harmony, and it’s cheap ore that is hard to find.  So today I’m going to switch up from Spirits of Hamony to Snakeroot Seed.

What snakeroot seed gives you

Looks like each node gives you at least 1 ghost iron ore and 1 trillium.

For one farm, you gain approx 16 trillium plus 16 ghost iron ore.

Spirits of Harmony

Let’s compare the snakeroot yield to the yield for Spirits of Harmony.

If you were to plant mote of harmony seeds, you would get 1.6 spirits.

which is 0.8 x 20 ghost iron ore + 0.8 x 5 trillium = 16 ghost iron, 4 trillium.

Snakeroot or Spirit of Harmony?

If you plant snakeroot you get 16 ghost iron, 16 trillium.

If you plant spirit of harmony you get 16 ghost iron, only 4 trillium.

Therefore you should always plant Snakeroot if you want ore, and only plant spirit of harmony if there is something else that you want to swap at the Spirit of Harmony Vendor

Spirit of Harmony Vendor

In case you need her, the Spirit of Harmony trader is at the Shrine of Two Moons / Seven Stars.

Getting to Halfhill Farm, Sunsong Ranch, Every Day

If you decide to add Halfhill Farm into your daily routine, you can set your hearthstone here.  You already have a Dalaran hearthstone and a Garrison hearthstone so perhaps you can afford to set your regular hearthstone here.  The “innkeeper” is a book in your ranch building, called [Farmers Journal]

Good luck and happy gold making

Pyrite Ore life for me

Pyrite is one of those ‘forgotten’ ores that players collected during the Cataclysm expansion.
Found in the same places as Elementium deposits it was the ‘rare’ mining item during the expansion

Where to find Pyrite Ore

There are two routes that are commonly used to collect both Elementium ore as well as Pyrite Ore.   Clearing out an area of the Elementium ore will spawn the Pyrite ore deposits that you are looking for.

The first route is found in the Twilight Highlands area

Most of the route will take you to the mountain edges of the zone.    If you have a combined miner/herbalist you can obtain some extra income from the herbs picked.

The second route takes you to Uldum

This again puts you around the edges of the zone into the mountain areas.   The deposits do spawn in the middle of the zone but staying on a set path can allow you to pick up the respawn quicker.

As you are gathering your ore you will also see the volatiles that is mined with the ore

Volatile Fire: mined from all four of the different ore clusters (Elementium Ore,  Rich Elementium Ore, Pyrite Ore,  Rich Pyrite Ore)

Volatile Water: mined from two of the four ore clusters (Elementium Ore,  Rich Elementium Ore)

Volatile Air:  mined from all four of the different ore clusters (Elementium Ore,  Rich Elementium Ore, Pyrite Ore,  Rich Pyrite Ore)

Volatile Earth: mined from all four of the different ore clusters (Elementium Ore,  Rich Elementium Ore, Pyrite Ore,  Rich Pyrite Ore)

The volatiles that is mined are useful for sales on the AH or also being able to use for transmutes

Profit production for your Pyrite Ore and Volatiles.

With the mining profession, you have the ability to make your collected Pyrite Ore

Into Pyrium Bars

Pyrium bars by themselves can be used by Blacksmiths to craft armor enhancements.   But they have a limited use (based on gear level).
But the special use for Pyrium bars is selling them to alchemists for a Truegold Transmute.

The four different Volatiles (Fire, Air, Water, Earth) are used in multiple professions.   Many of the popular Cataclysm transmog gear use them for crafting.

Profit Production for Blacksmiths

Blacksmiths have three items that they can craft using Pyrium Bars

Ebonsteel Belt Buckle

Pyrium Weapon Chain

Pyrium Shield Spike

All of these were very useful during the Cataclysm expansion.   With the ilvl limitations put on them, they are in less demand now

Anyone want a dragon? I just picked up some Pyrium ore Click To Tweet

Profit production for Alchemists: Pyrium Bar transmute

Alchemists get the biggest benefits from Pyrium bars.  Combined with three of the four volatiles that is gathered via mining

The first transmute that Alchemists is to transmute Elementium bars into Pyrium bars.

That is done by using 1 Elementium bar and 1 elemental earth

Be warned with this transmute has a daily cooldown.   Originally it was linked with the Truegold cooldown but
they are now separated.

Profit production for Alchemists: Truegold transmute

Truegold is transmuted using 3 Pyrium bars plus 10 volatile fire,  10 volatile air, and 10 volatile air.

By itself, this is a valuable item to have in your rotation on the Auction House for sale.   Especially since it is used
by Blacksmithing,  Engineering, and Jewelcrafting

For explosive profits,  Alchemists use this for their crafted mount which is in heavy demand.

Alchemists with the Vial of the Sands recipe can keep making this craft on a regular basis.   All of the materials that are needed are
either crafted or purchasable by the alchemist profession.   The only item that is needed that isn’t producible by the Alchemist is
the pyrium bars.

Keep in mind that many of the items have a set cost (Sands of Time at 3000g) while others are based on how much you either farm for yourself
or purchase from the AH.

At a profit of between 20,000 to 40,000 depending on how you obtain the ingredients, you end up with a very nice tidy profit.   The longer that we get away
from an expansion,  the more opportunities of these being on a limited supply basis.

Truegold treasure leading from a Pyrite Life

Gathering old world materials and crafting has always been a staple for gold making success.   Pyrium ore mining is one of the best examples of taking a long forgotten item and making it into golden profits.

Good Luck and Good Profit Hunting

About The Gold Dragon

The Gold Dragon is part of The Gold Queen’s “royal” court.  He began making gold his way in Azeroth 8+ years ago. Soon he took his menagerie of crafters and gatherers all the way to the legion HQ and beyond.  I’ve always believed in helping people if they ask and showing people that you do not have to be a Goblin Engineer to make gold in World of Warcraft. Many of the lessons I’ve learned in obtaining gold in WoW I’ve also adapted to my personal life. I have gained and spent over 8 million gold. Spending on personal items and helping my guildmates. Dancing on Azerothian mailboxes for gold tips is just a hobby.  I believe that everyone can make gold if they want to!

Warcraft Pre-patch is Almost Here

With World of Warcraft- Battle for Azeroth just around the corner.  Here are five things you should be doing before the pre-patch release

We now know that the Battle for Azeroth pre patch is expected to be released either on July the 16th or July the 23rd.   There is a long list of changes
that over the weeks will affect gold making ventures.   These include:

–   Talent changes
–   Stat Squish
–   Pet token changes
Click here for the changes on the pet tokens
–   Pre-patch events
–   Retirement of Legendary weapon abilities
–   First Aid achievements become feats of strength

So here is five things that you should do before the World of Warcraft:  Battle for Azeroth pre-patch arrive

1.  Run Old World Instances

If you have finished your artifact ‘overload’ quest line you are finding some godlike power at your hands.

Defeating enemies quicker allows you to manage your time spent gathering loot and gold to be able to move to another instance.

2.  Finish your World Quests (especially quests that have Bloods of Sargeras and Primal Sargerite)

Your overpowered weapon will make many of these quests go by faster.

With the removal of the need for AP points for your weapon you can concentrate on world quests that bring in gold or materials.  Crafters that require Bloods of Sargeras or Primal Sargerite for future transmog sales or mounts.

3.  Get the Meatball Follower

If you haven’t finished the Brawler guild quest line to obtain this follower.   Now is a great time to finish it.   With the timed missions and a minimum amount of PVP in the Brawlers guild you can have one of the best followers for your future order hall needs.

The questline goes:

Quest chain:
Get a Brawler’s Pass/ Brawler’s Pass so you can join the Brawler’s Guild.
Defeat Oso, the first fight of the Brawler’s Guild.
One Brawler’s Guild win is required.
Complete There is no Brawlers Guild (Order Hall mission).
Rewards: Rude Letter.
Rude Letter starts the quest: Everyone Loves a Good Fight.
Return to the Brawler’s Guild and fight in 5 matches or just stand there and watch others.
Complete Council of War (Order Hall mission).
Rewards as a bonus roll: Tuft of Dwarvish Beard – Aim for 200%.
Tuft of Dwarvish Beard starts the quest: We Brought the Hammer.
Return to the Brawler’s Guild and give item to Barkeep Townsley (A) / Bruno Flameretardant (H).
Complete Its Clean Up Time (Order Hall mission).
Rewards as a bonus roll: Broken Broom Handle – Aim for 200%.
Broken Broom Handle starts the quest: Cleaning Up.
Return to the Brawler’s Guild and give item to Barkeep Townsley (A) / Bruno Flameretardant (H).
Complete Master of Shadows (Order Hall mission).
Rewards as a bonus roll: Exhausted Shadow Candle – Aim for 200%.
Exhausted Shadow Candle starts the quest: Attacking the Darkness.
Return to the Brawler’s Guild and give item to Barkeep Townsley (A) / Bruno Flameretardant (H).
Complete I’ve Got A Strange Feeling About This (Order Hall mission).
Rewards as a bonus loot: Hunk of Meatball – Aim for 200%.
Hunk of Meatball starts the quest: You Beat the Ball of Meat.
Return to the Brawler’s Guild and give item to Barkeep Townsley (A) / Bruno Flameretardant (H).
Rewards: Meatball.

Bonus would be to get Meatball stacked with +gold or +resources building.

I'm prepared for Battle for Azeroth. I just got my crafting army ready to go Click To Tweet

4.   Reorganize your Gold Making Army

With all of the changes in the next expansion with professions,  this will be an excellent time to rearrange your alt gold making army.   If you are an advanced player and do not have all of the crafting professions covered,  this will be an excellent time to dip your toe into a new gold making world.   For seasons gold makers,  a little change of a gatherer into a second crafter can add more profits into your pocket.

5.   Resist the Urge to Sell all of your Materials.

This is a difficult one.   Emptying out the materials bank and starting from fresh is a tried and true strategy when it comes to new expansions.

But this can quickly drive the price down for materials on servers.   Transmog items,  especially hats/helms,  chest pieces and pants are often purchased to create that perfect look.

With many crafters getting out of a market on the expectation of needing space,  holding onto basic mats including ore and leather can have them ready for sale or production later.

And a Bonus for the rogues

6.  Start to collect the Coins of Air and look to buy the Rogue only pets to sell

It has not been revealed what will happen with the Rogue only quest that rewards 4999g.   The expectation is that it will be removed because it is a powerful gold making quest for as little as 10 minutes of pickpocketing.

From the our good friend Griftah, there are two pets that are offered for sale.  These are only available to be acquired and crated for sales by Rogues.   So the odds are these will still be available even if the Coins of Air quest is removed.

Stocking up and acquiring the coins of air before the BFA patch will give an advantage just in case they remove the two pets all together.

Are you prepared for the next step?

There are many more things that can be done before the Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth pre-patch arrives.   Leveling alts,  buying Guild banks,  obtaining old world patterns for sales.

All of these plus more can put gold into your pocket and allow you to enter the new frontier that is BFA.

Good Luck and Good Profit Hunting

Dancing on Azerothian mailboxes for gold tips is just a hobby.  My mission is to have you learn how to make gold while also make you smile.

Where to Start Making Gold in Warcraft

Here’s your guide on where *you* should start.

Gold Dragon say:

Have you started with the free gold making course that is emailed to you? That’s a good first step on learning and sticking your toe in the water. Go to the TGQ webpage and then look for the header ‘Free Gold Making Email Course’. You will get an email and walk you through expanding your gold making abilities

TGQ says

We are here to help you maximize your gold in a way that’s good for you. Every person is going to have a different path and different abilities and hopes. Sometimes you need organisation, sometimes you need to see a guide that makes you think ooooh I could do that and then you start there. There is no one path because there we are all different. If you’re a patreon, look at the video guides and take them slowly, adding in  any particular profession or farm that appeals to you, gradually building at a rate that suits you.

Why is There No One-size-fits-all in Warcraft Gold Making?

People are all different. Some readers will enjoy farming, some readers will enjoy auction house trends and flipping. Some of you might need a new task every 15 minutes, some of you will be more organised and have a whole weekly routine going.  Some readers will have invested in their professions, others will be really interested in the transmog market.

Servers, and your buyers, are all different. RP Gear is not going to sell so well on a PVP server.  Raid consumables will sell better on a server with high population of raiders. Some servers are more interested in pets, some want a stack of 200 mats, some only want one.

Time changes. The game changes. Items are nerfed, buffed, go in and out of fashion. Raid consumables sell at a particular time, trade mats at a different time.

How gold works never changes. That’s why I teach this method, so you can get a good grounding.  I’ve been told that my methods would also work on all the other MMOs with strong economies, they’re that solid. It’s part of the video guides that I make as a bonus for my Patreons.

Start With What You Know

There’s something about you that’s special. Unique.  Something you have that other players don’t.  Work out what that is, and profit from it.

Match your Unique Abilities with your Buyers’ Needs

PvPer?  You might be able to make gold by selling arena boosts

Raider? You could sell tanking or healing boosts or queue jumps? Sell spots in your end game raids for loot.

Roleplayer? I bet you know the transmog market inside out.

Pet Battler? Your knowledge of the prices for battle pets and their sources will enable you to learn niches that other players don’t know.

Pretty good at professions?  Check your professions in our search and see if there is a guide that matches your abilities.

Know your way around Azeroth?  Hunt down limited supply items and rare recipes from all over the world.

Patient? Try farming.  Clever? Try AH flipping.  Friendly? Ask your friends what they need.  Nosy? Watch other gold makers on youtube or twitch. Determined? Get into a market that requires reposting and reposting.  Coder? I bet your TSM profiles could put mine to shame.  Nostalgic? Do you remember old ways to make gold that others have forgotten? Timelost Isle maybe or Blackrock Depths? Completionist? Do you have all the cooking recipes yet?

Start with one market and grow

Once you’ve decided where to start, and done a little research online, it’s time for you practice.  Remember that you are going to fail and when you fail, you will learn something.

Follow your guide precisely and when you get results, make sure you understand the result, so you can make alterations if needed.

This is one reason why I take very careful note of my mailbox. I’m almost disappointed when I get a sale, because there’s no strategy change needed.

Don’t Go Too Fast

You’re a person, not a robot.  Go slow, go steady, and you WILL have a foundation that lasts for years and years. There is a reason that the free email goldmaking course is one per week. It’s so that you can get every thing understood before building on it.  Strong foundations.

Good luck and happy gold making

Professions Collection Website Updated In Time For Battle for Azeroth

Are you a completionist goldmaker?

Do you need all the recipes, all the patterns, and all the professions?

Do you know which ones you are missing?

Kruithne’s receipe website lets you check which patterns you have and which are you missing, and now its been updated and works, just in time for BfA!

http://www.kruithne.net/recipes/

How to Use Kruithne’s Recipe Website

Head over to the website, put in your realm and your character name, then check out all the patterns you own!

The ones that show as green, you own. Red is for ones you don’t have, and I think yellow for ones you don’t have the full tier/rank, say you have rank 1 in a pattern, but rank 3 could be obtained. Mouseover them to see more info.

You can toggle your known patterns on/off so you can see which ones you are missing and focus on those.

Looks like I could use a few more Jewelcrafting patterns!

And more Tailoring patterns!

Kruithne themself says

“I don’t play WoW much myself anymore, but I know a lot of people wanted the recipe website to be updated again since nothing else had taken its place, so I felt that I owed it to the community to rework it and bring it up to speed. That’s the only motivation behind it really!”

Kruithne has put work into this for the Warcraft community and they deserve our thanks.

Unobtainable Patterns on The Website?

Scroll down your crafting patterns and check out how many of the unobtainable patterns you have.

These are patterns that you should pay particular attention to when you are crafting in order to maximise your profits in World of Warcraft.

This one, for example, obviously sells for a high price, and it’s a good reminder to me to craft it more often.

Are there any patterns that are a reminder to you? Let me know
