The first 48 hours of the new expansion are always the most exciting

New places, new crafting, new gathering nodes. Everything has that fresh new car smell.

But walking into a new expansion with a plan will allow you to be ahead of the curve of those
that just get behind the wheel and drive in a random direction.

Prepping for the Trip

With any trip the first thing you would want to do is get your supplies.

1. Clean your banks out for new materials

Depending on the crafting needs you should look to empty between 10-12 slots per profession.
This will give you plenty of room for the required ore, skins, enchanting materials and Expulsom
that will be needed for crafting.

2. Warm up those fishing poles

If you are going to level cooking, you will be fishing (or buying overpriced items from the AH).
the first 50-55 levels require a lot of fish oil that is obtained mostly from fishing and squeezing those
fish.

Get your best fishing poles (Underlight Angler or other + fishing poles) as well as other equipment to get
Your fishing skills as high as possible.

You’re Battle for Azeroth fishing will start at 0 but if you come in with
your best equipment you will end up fishing up less junk and more fish.

3.  Put fuel in the car (and in your body)

Literally millions of people will be attempting to login at the same time.
The doors open for the new expansion for the U.S. and U.K will be launching at the same time.
This means that players from all over the world will be bombarding the login servers at the same time.

Take your time before logging in to eat something,  drink something.    Run an old instance.  Something that
will whet your appetite as the appetizer for the main course when the gates open.

Plan your trip ahead of time

Remember that I told you millions of players will be logging into servers at the same time?
Meaning 100’s of players will be in the same starting areas at the same time.   Killing mobs and gathering
quest items.    Many of the mobs are taggable (tag once then loot if others of your faction kill them).

Still with that many players killing mobs the respawn rate can get quite chaotic.
To Get Pathfinder (and you’re upgraded whistle to zip to discovered flight paths) you will need friendly with the
main factions of the opening zones.  So be prepared to jump from one of the three leveling areas to another.

The first ‘breadcrumb’ quest will tell you to go back to your home city (Stormwind or Orgrimmar) to
start the questline.   Parking the characters you will be starting the expansion pack with can cut a little bit
of travel time.

Having a plan to where you will be sending your gatherers out will allow you to jump ahead.  Suggested routes

Horde:

Tailors:  Nazmir
Herbalism:  All 3 areas are equal for gathering nodes
Skinning:  Nazmir and Zuldazar have a large compact area of mobs to skin
Mining:  Vol’dun has a large amount of flat areas that it is easy to run routes to gather ore

Alliance

Tailors:  Stormstrong Valley or Tiragarde Sound
Herbalism:  Drustvar
Skinning:  All three areas
Mining:  Drustvar has a large central area that has good node circulation

(Hint to patreon members. Look in the legion-gold website to make your gathering that much easier.)

Don’t Neglect Your Past Adventures

There is a temptation to forget about all the previous expansions. But that is one thing that a master gold maker really
excels in being in control of both the past and the present.

Where listing all of your auctions for sale might not net a lot of sales, finishing your daily chores can give you the money base you need.

TSM4 searches (Flips,  Disenchanting,  Vendor lists)

Profession Cooldowns

Garrison and Order Hall follower quests

The key will be to know what to set aside and what chores to finish.

Bring the Snacks

It just isn’t a road trip without munchies. Sandwiches,  sodas, whatever treats you feel like having is important.
Entering a new expansion is no different. Some suggested items to bring with you as you enter the new world

Goblin Gliders
Health Pots
Flasks  (Potion of Prolonged Power)
Guild Standard of Coordination (Guild Vendor)
Cloak of Coordination (Guild Vendor)
Drums (Drums of Rage for 25% Haste Boost)
Food (fighter chow + Crispy Bacon)
Gnomish Army Knife (every prof tool + lvl buff for gathering)
Tomes ( To change your Talents)

Check your Mirrors and Headlights

Before you’re ready to finish start your adventures in the new frontier make sure you

Update your computer drivers
Update your add-ons (manually or via the twitch app)
Read your favorite online journals (Yep,  that’s us right?)

The more prep you do before you get started,  the easier the transition will be as you start your next adventure.

Finally.   Get ready to have fun.

The buildup since the announcement of the new expansion has been strong. The opening 48 hours
won’t make or break your gold making experience. So if you miss an opportunity to jump right in at the start,  you will have plenty chances to make large amounts of gold through the next 12-18 months of the expansion.

So enjoy the trip. Smell the roses and have a safe journey

Good Luck and Good Gold Making

About The Gold Dragon

The Gold Dragon is part of The Gold Queen’s “royal” court.  He began making gold his way in Azeroth 8+ years ago. Soon he took his menagerie of crafters and gatherers all the way to the legion HQ and beyond.  I’ve always believed in helping people if they ask and showing people that you do not have to be a Goblin Engineer to make gold in World of Warcraft. Many of the lessons I’ve learned in obtaining gold in WoW I’ve also adapted to my personal life. I have gained and spent over 8 million gold. Spending on personal items and helping my guildmates. Dancing on Azerothian mailboxes for gold tips is just a hobby.  I believe that everyone can make gold if they want to!
