Who was the the gold queen?

Who was the the gold queen?

The gold queen was the pen name of a player on 3 EU servers 2005-2012 who subtly, elegantly owned the auction house.  Starting from a position of zero, she accidentally then purposefully controlled the economy of one small RP server, and moved to the big boys, one of the  largest servers in Europe. At the time of her disappearance, she owned 1/4 of all the goods that moved through the server.

Where is the gold queen?

She is in the stock market, in the real gold exchange markets, and on Facebook supporting other mothers of autistic  children.

Wait what autistic?

Autism is one of those disabilities that people laugh about, calling “retarded”, stupid or rude. My son was diagnosed. He  needs my 100% love and attention. He’s more important than a website. It’s a difficult disability to live with, the bullying is especially nasty.

Aren’t you the gold queen anymore?

You never stop being a gold queen, or gold king. Being a gold king, guru, whatever, is a state of mind. It’s not about how much gold you have in your pocket, its the comparison between how much gold you need/want, and how much gold you can generate. Can you do it?

What happened? I really liked your site icon sad Who was the the gold queen?

I lost my electricity, and then I lost my heating for two weeks in the snow. Then I lost my hard drive. then my new hard drive didn’t work, nor did the second. then the third arrived. then it was christmas and my family needed me, and then it was 3 months later and I didn’t know what the point was of returning, in the face of abusive remarks from competitors who were claiming to 1) own kunlai summit and 2) own the business model of cheap -v- quality and 3) accused me of stealing these two ideas, despite my bending over backwards to help this person with their website for 6 hours free work one evening. Running The Gold Queen at a loss (whatever gave you the idea that I took money from this venture? items for sale covered 1/10 of costs) in the face of bitter attacks seemed a waste of my time.

I’ve been begged back. I can’t go back. I only do something I can win.  Right now, with my responsibilities to my son, I can’t be in a server first raid guild,  and I can’t own more than 1/4 of the AH.

So you’re deposed, you’re not the gold queen anymore!

You missed the paragraph above. Being a gold queen/king is a state of mind. I can go on cheap and cheerful android games or the flipping Sims and be gold queen. You can go on WoW, without any support from me, and be gold king. If you set your mind to it.

What is this airy fairy state of mind thing?

“I can teach you the most clever, unorthodox, and effective techniques in the world, but [you] can undo it all if you have the wrong attitude”

In other words, there’s zero point in drawing you mining routes if you can’t be arsed to get up and mine.

A little squirrel told me you sold your website for $20,000

Not true. Your little squirrel only has half the story. Your little squirrel probably doesn’t know about my gold guide. No, not the old mini-guide, the 150 hour movie guide that shows every. little. thing.

Guess what, I didn’t sell it. And it’s not open to the public either. It’s not for sale. It’s only for gold kings and gold queens. If that’s you, then you’ll find a way to contact me. *Matt N found it. Murray found it.

  1. It was a joy to serve, take care. Be your best.

    • I wish you all the best! Growing up I babysat a neighbor who was autistic and many do not understand the challenges and rewards that come with that on a daily basis.

I know that whatever you set your mind to, you will be able to do, and right now your mind is on your family as it should be!

While I will most likely not ever be a gold queen (wrong frame of mind I suppose, I tend to spend and splurge) You will always be a gold queen to me, whether that is in game or to your family.

      All the best,
      Emmence

    • First off I want to say thank you for all the time and effort you put into making all these guides. You have taught me so much about making gold.I’m so sorry to hear about your son. Both of you are in my prayers =)

  2. My wife teaches children with autism. I endorse your choice.
You are the kind of person I’d like to help out but It seems you have more than enough of the kind of things I could help with.
    More power to you.

  3. This is what being a learning human being is all about; Taking something from one part of life and then appying it to another. People that can’t understand the way you’ve changed your priorities are people that have a lot more to learn. To some a vieo game is everything. To others it’s “just” an important hobby that needs to be adjusted when needed. Life is the greatest game of all and you’ll need to use whatever you learn to keep on leveling within it. I can write books about the topic of life, so i’ll stop here :)

Thanks for all that you did!
    Thanks for all the support!
    Thanks for all the retweets!
    Thanks for being you!

Ps. Autism requires a lot from the parents, the family and the people around your child. I’m happy to see that you made this choice.

  4. You learn something new everyday, and damn does it make you smile.

I’ve followed this website for some time. And now finding out you work with other autistic people? That -really- makes me smile :P

    …Being autistic myself >_>

It really is hard living in a world where autism is looked down upon. Even more so when NT people who ‘support’ and ‘advocate’ for us throw autistic adults under the bus.

Still… It’s nice to see a post from you :)

  5. I agree i used to be Gold king on my server. capped 3-4 times over but, one day i decided i loved this so much i could really make a living doing this. so this is what i do now e commerce buy sell trade and believe it or not wow guides like your self has taught me a way to use this strat in the real world. thanks again for all you hard work and dedication. AS for wow its on the back burner as i strive to thrive my business thanks again :)

  6. I wholeheartedly support and agree with your decision; not that you need my support, or agreement, but I want to add my voice to the many that believes wholeheartedly in your choices.

My daughter is “on the spectrum” – not enough to cause real problems, but enough that she is considered “a bit odd”. We have been lucky in that most of her class has closed circle around her and won’t let anyone pick on her. Whenever someone points out her odd quirks, three over voices pipe up that “oh, that’s just (name of child withheld)”

I confess that I play to have fun – to fly around and look at the scenery and collect mounts by fighting for them. However, the advice that you have provided me with has certainly made my life a lot easier.

I also suspect that a 150 hour movie on ANY subject might make my eyes bleed. However, I remain a fan.

  7. It’s a shame to hear about your troubles, ma’am. It’s my sincere hope things get better for you soon. This site was the impetus for me to get off my lazy butt and sort my things out on Kirin Tor – went from being ‘ok but without a lot of cash’ to owning the Horde-side elementium market just before MoP came out. I’m still as proud of my market character as I was of any of my raiding characters – I played with my mom, and I paid the way for her to max out enchanting and blacksmithing on a couple characters with what I learned. I keep thinking I’d love to go back just to log onto him and see if I could raise another fortune.

In any case, I left the game several months ago – school and finances prevented it from being a thing, but I know for sure that you and I both could go back if we wanted to and be just as good as we ever were. If you want to win, I know you could win. In any case, don’t let the bastards get you down, give your son all the love he needs, and I hope you have a wonderful day.

  8. Actually that makes a lot of sense, I have used what i learned in gold trading, in business, health, etc. (I’ve been begged back. I can’t go back. I only do something I can win. Right now, with my responsibilities to my son, I can’t be in a server first raid guild, and I can’t own more than 1/4 of the AH.)<—-I'm the same way, in fact while i still game, some of my games are stuff like zombie run, which is a workout app.

While I still enjoy gold trading, it more for fun and testing in a virtual environment. With that said, as you mention, you really only have time for one job in your life. (Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that affects how a person communicates with, and relates to, other people)

Actually you are in a good way to teach your child communicating and relating too. you went from the virtual stock market to the real stock market, i would say you communicate and relate different than most people, now dont you?

anyways good to see you doing well
    Steve

  9. *hugs* Good luck dealing with all the difficulties looking after your son brings you :)

  10. Good to see your doing well! Many blessings to you and your son!

  11. I’m sorry about your son. My 13 year old daughter has Asperger. She was diagnosed with it 2 years ago. My daughter has not had problems with bullies yet. My daughter is going into 7th grade next school year and I worry that she will have problems at her new school.

  12. I’m autistic. It’s hard work living in a non-autistic world but I wouldn’t change for anything as I like being me.

I’m sorry your son has had to deal with bullying. I had it all through childhood and it sucks :( Luckily as an adult I’m now able to pick who I spend time with so can surround myself with people who like me for who I am. My husband is autistic too :)

  13. I am happy that your son is getting your full attention, as I’m sure your love and devotion to his well being is more than any boy could hope to receive.

I am a father of a little one myself, and find that my WoW time isn’t as important as it used to be, but I’m still a Transmogrification Gold King whether I’m in game, or not. :p

Go forth, and be the best Gold Queen your boy will ever see! /hug

  14. Sorry to hear about you stepping/leaving/retiring from the game, but I understand that RL trumps WoW any time. While I may not have been an avid follower of your blog. I did read it when it came across the blog roll on the undermine journal. When you notified via your blog about the Gold Run I decided to take a risk with my limited cash to participate.
I learned a lot from it and even though I was disappointed because a lot was promised not everything was delivered but I don’t hold that against you at all :)I’m a better gold goblin (can’t really say king because I’m still learning) for it.
I’d better stop this is turning into a novel. I wish you and your son well. I hope to see you on the blog roll sometime in the future :)

  15. I’ve enjoyed reading your blog for awhile now, and while I’m sorry to see you stepping back it’s totally understandable.

My son was diagnosed on the autism spectrum, so many huggs to you!

  16. *hugs*

  17. Best of luck to you! You Are missed! Huge hugs and respect for your choice!

  18. I’m sorry to hear about your child. My youngest brother is autistic as well and I know full well what you have to put up with.

I am relieved to see you safe and well. :)

    • *warm hugs*
