Isle of Thunder Farming In the same way that we recently revisited Timeless Isle, I’ve been researching whether returning to Isle of Thunder, in Pandaria, is a good gold making resource for World of Warcraft players. You will need to be a mid-geared level 90, or preferably a level 100 character to farm here. With […]

Connected with 4,000 people on Twitter. Came out on Twitter as having a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum. And very proud I […]

In the same way that we recently revisited Timeless Isle, I’ve been researching whether returning to Isle of Thunder, in Pandaria, is a good gold making resource for World of Warcraft players.
You will need to be a mid-geared level 90, or preferably a level 100 character to farm here.
With so many ways to make gold on Isle of Thunder, it would be easy to become bogged down in the detail, so during the research I focused on obtaining some of the most profitable items.
Approx Market Values (Dec 2015)
Sealed Tome of the Lost Legion EU 20,000g, US 25-30k
Filthling pet EU & US 2-3,000g,
Sunreaver Micro-Sentry pet EU 1-1.5k , US 2-3,000g
Sealed Tome of the Lost Legion
This one is for the warlock farmers in World of Warcraft.
The Sealed Tome of the Lost Legion drops from rare mobs on the Isle of Thunder.
2% chance means that on average you need 50 kills.
There are several rares around Isle of Thunder. In the days before Cross Realm Assist, you would have needed to navigate the Isle, on foot, because there is no flying in this area. If you still want to do this, you can use TomTom and NPC_Scan addons to find the rares.

NPC_scan addon will pick up the Isle of Thunder rares for you automatically. All the rares spawn in the same points or roam in a very small area nearby.
Now that Cross Realm Assist and Group Finder allow easy realm hopping, it’s quicker to stay in one area, and jump realms to make the rares come to you instead. I recommend that area of the South Coast.
South Coast Rares
Ra’sha
Ku’lai the Skyclaw
and Haywire Sunreaver Construct
These three rares are all within easy reach of each other, if you find you have exhausted one rare spawn point and want to try another, you don’t need to travel far.
Who can loot this?
The item is only lootable by warlocks.
You can see the item in the rare mob if it drops – but you won’t meet the requirements to loot it as a non-warlock.
You can still loot another one after you’ve completed the green fire quest.
Warlocks can loot more than one, but can only hold 1 in your inventory because they are “unique”.
So simply loot one and put it on the AH, then go farm another one.
Haywire Sunreaver Construct
This rare drops a tradeable pet, the Sunreaver Micro-Sentry. Although bind on pickup, once learned, it can be caged and then sold, traded, or posted on the auction house. Keep cross realm jumping until the pet drops from the Haywire Sunreaver Construct on the beach at the south of Ihgaluk Crag.
When we researched and tried this on the livestream, the droprate was pretty low. So we moved on to investigate another nearby pet
Filthling
The Filthling pet drops from the nearby filth pits of the saurok mobs just to the north of the Haywire Construct rare spawn area. Kill the Quivering Filth mobs to cause a larger, elite Quivering Filth to spawn. It’s the larger elites that drop the Half-Empty Food Container. When you loot the BoP item, learn it, then find it in your pet journal, and right click to cage it. Once it’s caged, you can put it on the Auction House.
Filthlings sell for 2-3,000g at time of writing (December 2015)

If you are reading this blog post in the future (hello from the past!) then these items should still drop, and you can check the prices on The Undermine Journal or at Wowuction.com
