How to Get the Steelbound Harness Recipe
In patch 7.03, Blizzard introduced a new crafting mount that could be sold on the Auction House
The profession of blacksmithing had never received a mount to sell of their own.
With the introduction of the Steelbound Harness World of Warcraft, Blacksmiths were given a new gold making revenue stream.
First: Obtaining the Steelbound Destroyer Pattern
There are only a few requirements for obtaining the pattern for the Steelbound Harness.
- Player level 110 or higher (now that BFA is introduced)
- Max Blacksmithing for Legion
After you have these met then you need an Instance run through The Night hold to get a kill on Tichondrius on normal setting or higher
(it is a 100% drop as long as the player is a blacksmith and is at maximum blacksmithing level
There are many guilds making pay per raid runs that go between 10,000 and 25,000g. Good investment to obtain the recipe if you’re not
able to find a pickup group or guild raid group.
Second: Gathering the Materials for your Steelbound Harness Pattern
After obtaining the pattern, it becomes a matter of collecting the materials.
– 100 Demonsteel Bars (Combination of 2 Felslate + 1 Leystone ore) or from the auction house
– 50 Blood of Sargaras (Obtained via gathering materials or from world quests)
– 10 Infernal Brimstone (Gathered by miners or from auction house)
– 10 Felhide (Gathered by skinners or from auction house)
Third: Learn the Pattern and Selling on the Auction House
After learning the recipe, the player learns to ride the awesome looking Mount the Steelbound Devourer
The power of this craft is that it is BOE. So you can learn it for yourself, or sell it on the AH for Big Profits
Look at what the Twitterverse has to say
Here comes the Tweetable
[bctt tweet=”I’m going to craft and sell a Steelbound Harness for a large profit” username=”thegoldqueen”]
25,000g- 35,000g
Adding one or two of these to your auction house rotation can add 25,000 to 35,000g into your virtual bank account.
Are you prepared to craft more profits with your Steelbound Harness pattern?
With the end of the Legion in sight, players are running the harder difficulties of instances more and more.
Get geared up, grab a pickup or guild group to gather in your pattern.
Now is the time to get your Steelbound Harness Recipe on your Blacksmith and profit

Good Luck and Good Gold Hunting
The Gold Dragon is part of The Gold Queen’s royal court. He began making gold his way in Azeroth 8+ years ago. Soon he took his menagerie of crafters and gatherers all the way to the legion HQ and beyond. I’ve always believed in helping people if they ask and showing people that you do not have to be a Goblin Engineer to make gold in World of Warcraft. Many of the lessons I’ve learned in obtaining gold in WoW I’ve also adapted to my personal life. I have gained and spent over 8 million gold. Spending on personal items and helping my guildmates. Dancing on Azerothian mailboxes for gold tips is just a hobby. I believe that everyone can make gold if they want to!
Wyrmtongue Caches for Gold
Now that Artifact Power can be vendored for gold, farming Wyrmtongue Caches and other AP treasures gives you gold.
Since the next step in Silithus quest chain was implemented 26/27 June 2018, Artifact Power can now be vendored.
We're working on a hotfix for this now. https://t.co/V5ppzUIcSj

Artifact Power for Gold
Meanwhile, back at the Broken Shore, there are Wyrmtongue Caches just lying around that are full of Artifact Power, which can now be vendored.
Sure, it’s not a fortune, but it’s gold, and gold is gold. And it’s free gold lying around waiting for you to take it.
Here’s a reprint of my guide to Wyrmtongue Caches
Farming Wyrmtongue Caches

These hidden wyrmtongue caches are simple treasure chests that spawn around the Broken Shore.
They can hold Artifact Power, Dauntless tokens (850 armor), greys for vendoring, order resources, and legionfall resources.

Death of World Quest Group Finder?
I can’t find any response by Blizzard about this, but it’s looking like World Quest Group Finder might be dead for BfA.
If that’s true, then we want to do all our server hopping now, while we still can.
This just in: in BFA it isn't possible for addons to create premade group finder groups automatically, even if the user presses a button to create them after an addon pre-filled the info.
— WeakAuras (@WeakAuras) June 19, 2018
Killing World Quest Group Finder is going to bring how rubbish WoW's world content (IE sunk time, no engaging gameplay) is into focus. That'll be very interesting to see.
I agree that WQGF feels broken, but right now it exists to remove a pain point in the game loop.

Please remember that this is beta and it could just a bug. I’ll keep you updated.
Good luck and happy gold making

Silithus: The Wound, The Rares
Everyone is running to Silithus to max out their artifact weapon. Completing Magni’s quest gives you maximum artifact power.
The zone is full of players on their alts, leveling up their weapons.

While you are in Silithus, make sure you look for the new rares in the zone.
Ogmot the Mad
Ogmot is the first of the rares, he’s found in the southern Twilight Cultist camp.
He drops Ogmot’s Dream Journal. A bind on pickup item, you can vendor it for 200g.
Never say no to free gold.

Silithid Minitank Battle Pet
This is a battle pet that is bind on pickup but once learned, can be caged, and sold on the Auction House.
It has a chance to drop from only three rares, and once they’re killed, they’re classed as elites, no longer rare until the next day.
So every alt has three chances to kill for the pet, once per day.
Hive Regal: Ssinkrix

Hive Zora: Xaarshej

Hive Ashi: Qroshekx

Daily Kills
They can be killed every day, so feel free to return on your alt/s for another chance at the pet (10% drop chance)

Sunwell Farming the Marshmallow Way
One of the easiest ways to make gold is to remember the old ways to make gold and check if they still work.
Marshmeileo from Twitter did this, reminding us to go back to the Sunwell and farm the raid for transmog and patterns.
That’s why I’m naming this guide after her: Sunwell Farming, The Marshmallow Way.
How To Get To The Sunwell
The Sunwell Plateau is a level 70 raid, the very last raid from The Burning Crusade Warcraft expansion.
Take a portal to Shattrath. There are none from Dalaran, so go first to Mists of Pandaria portal. There are none from Kul’Tiras or Zandalar, so get a friendly mage or use your Dalaran hearthstone.
From the Terrace of Light in the centre of Shattrath, take the Portal to Isle of Quel’Danas, which you know as Sunwell Isle.

Sunwell Transmog Patterns Loot
Blacksmithing
- BoP Plans: Hard Khorium Battlefists, but crafted item is BoE.
- Plans: Hard Khorium Battleplate.
- Plans: Sunblessed Breastplate
- BoP Plans: Sunblessed Gauntlets, but crafted item is BoE
Engineering
Crafted items require engineering to use, which cuts down on the number of potential buyers and therefore rate of sales. However, you could get lucky, you only need one buyer per item!
- Schematic: Annihilator Holo-Gogs
- Schematic: Hard Khorium Goggles
- Schematic: Hyper-Magnified Moon Specs
- Schematic: Justicebringer 3000 Specs
- Schematic: Lightning Etched Specs
- Schematic: Mayhem Projection Goggles
- Schematic: Powerheal 9000 Lens
- Schematic: Primal-Attuned Goggles
- Schematic: Quad Deathblow X44 Goggles
- Schematic: Surestrike Goggles v3.0
- Schematic: Wonderheal XT68 Shades
Leatherworking
- Pattern: Carapace of Sun and Shadow
- Pattern: Embrace of the Phoenix
- Pattern: Leather Chestguard of the Sun
- Pattern: Sun-Drenched Scale Chestguard
- BoP Pattern: Sun-Drenched Scale Gloves, but crafted item is BoE
- BoP Pattern: Fletcher’s Gloves of the Phoenix, but crafted item is BoE
- BoP Pattern: Gloves of Immortal Dusk, but crafted item is BoE
- BoP Pattern: Leather Gauntlets of the Sun, but crafted item is BoE
Mining
Study of Advanced Smelting is a Bind on Pickup item, but Hardened Khorium is BoE, sellable on the Auction House, and used in the patterns for Hard Khorium Battlefists, Sunblessed Gauntlets, (BS) and Hard Khorium Goggles (Eng).
Tailoring
- Pattern: Robe of Eternal Light
- Pattern: Sunfire Robe
- BoP Pattern: Hands of Eternal Light, but crafted item is BoE
- BoP Pattern: Sunfire Handwraps, but crafted item is BoE
Jewelcrafting,
BoE patterns only, as crafted necks and rings don’t sell for transmog.
You may want to pick up the other BoP JC patterns for completionism.
- Design: Amulet of Flowing Life
- Design: Hard Khorium Choker
- Design: Pendant of Sunfire

Selling Sunwell Loot
Blacksmith Plans, sell for up to 5000g. Crafted items 100k if you are patient and have no competitors.
Engineering items 80-100k. but can take longer to sell.
Jewelcrafting patterns: up to 5000g each
Tailoring patterns 5-10,000g each. Crafted items 100,000g-200,000g each.
Leatherworking patterns, 20k each. Crafted items 100,000g+ each
Mining, Hardened Khorium sells for 5-10,000g each
As always, my tips are to preserve the perceived rarity. Make it seem like they’re very special and very rare. Only ever put one of the item on the Auction House. If you’re faced with a competitor, it’s ok to temporarily back off rather than ruin the prices.
What else can you get in Sunwell?

Burning Crusade transmog items
Sets: Archmage, Bloodfist, Boneshredder, Consortium, Conqueror’s, Eldr’naan, Expedition, Murkblood, Shadow Council, Shattered Hand, Skettis, Sundered, Talhide, Warlord’s, Warmaul and similar sets. Collect and sell as full transmog sets.
Khorium Lockboxes containing these transmogs
Various blue weapons, chance for world drop patterns.
Uncommon necklace and rings: disenchant these.
Netherweave Cloth: craft into bags and sell on the AH.
Epic Jewelcrafting materials: Crimson Spinel, Lionseye, Seaspray Emerald, Pyrestone, Empyrean Sapphire, Shadowsong Amethyst. All the recipes can be bought from the Shattered Sun vendor in Quel’Danas, if you don’t already have them.
Sunmotes, used for crafting Sunwell items
- Fletcher’s Gloves of the Phoenix
- Gloves of Immortal Dusk
- Hands of Eternal Light
- Hard Khorium Band
- Hard Khorium Battlefists
- Leather Gauntlets of the Sun
- Loop of Forged Power
- Ring of Flowing Life
- Sun-Drenched Scale Gloves
- Sunblessed Gauntlets
- Sunfire Handwraps

Pets: Sunblade Rune of Activation (Sunblade Microdefender pet), Servant’s Bell (Wretched Servant pet). Void Collar (Chaos Pup pet).
These can be learned, recaged, and sold, 500g-1,500g each.

BoP Transmog for yourself.
You can’t make gold with it, but it can go in your transmog collection, maybe save you a few gold on buying lookalike items.

If there is so much amazing loot in Sunwell, why don’t you go every week?
because there is not much trash, and gives very little “raw” gold per hour. So don’t burn yourself out (geddit?) going regularly, keep it as an irregular side adventure. While you’re on Quel’Danas, look out for Mana Thistle, ore, including Khorium, and the Magister’s Terrace heroic dungeon.

The Gold Guide You Need, Not the Gold Guide You Want
Who googles “how to organise world of warcraft gold making into a regular routine in order to get steady reliable gold” ?
Gold Queen is getting old. She’s seen a few tricks. She’s seen fake gold guides. She’s seen dupers. She’s seem farmers, botters, She’s seen internet marketers, clickbait, buzzfeed, SEO tricks, podcasting, blogs, forums, google make their own video channel, then give up and buy youtube. Seen Justin TV become Twitch, become internet gaming sensation. Seen dozens of blogs rise, and fade away, several podcasts, several youtubes, forums, and twitch streams. That gives a unique insight into the way goldmaking content has changed over the last 10+ years.
Gold Farming Was a Massive Taboo
I vividly remember the first time that a World of Warcraft Goldmaker labeled their stream “gold farmer” on Twitch. And how it was an ironic joke, a laugh at the clickbait headlines. Because no one would lower themselves to call themselves a farmer. Farmers were as bad as botters. It was an insult.
I see that day as an important turning point in Warcraft Goldmaking, and not in a good way.
The Quality of Gold Making Guides Has Not Decreased
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not knocking goldmaking content creators! You guys do a difficult job, and are selfless in hunting out new ideas, and giving them away to the community.
But something bad has happened to gold guides, and it’s not your fault.
Since that first day that a livestreamer tempted fate with the “Goldfarmer!” title, and broke that taboo, the see-saw, the teeter-totter unbalanced.

Previously, goldmaking blogs, forums, the occasional podcast, were run from the point of view of the guide writer. Step 1, Step 2, Step 3, Step 4, and then how to put those steps together.
Afterwards, goldfarming guides were run from the point of view of the guide reader. The guide reader did not give a fudge for steps, organising, routines, crafting, weighing up addons, or anything except “Fast Easy Gold Farm”
The viewer was not interested in
- Organising
- Selling psychology
- Routines
- Crafting
- Wise storage
- Stock keeping
- Keeping the economy in balance
- How to post items on AH
- Stack sizes
- Times of day/week
- Alternative items
- Ethics
- Opportunity Cost
The viewer was interested in
- Appears fast
- Appears easy
- Big Numbers
- No apparent barriers to collecting items
- Cut n pasting stuff into some addon they don’t understand
- Easy to get to
- Easy to start
- Entertaining voice
And naturally, the goldmaking content creator, wait, the Gold Farmer, created what the viewer wanted.

3,850,000 results
The trend for fast easy video guides was born.
The term “Gold farmer” is now normal, fashionable even.
GoldMaking Content Creators are Getting Burned Out
So where are all the goldmaking content creators going? They play World of Warcraft, then discover something really awesome, which is the goldmaking community, and start pumping out content, yet 12-18 months later, they’re gone. And it’s not a lack of stamina. It’s not a lack of intelligence, innovation, or willingness to help.
The average five year burn-out rate in the game industry fuels a self-perpetuating cycle of studios easily exploiting the labor of younger workers who lack an older generation of workers to guide them towards organizing for better career conditions.
And it's only getting worse. https://t.co/7aJeZPHILg
— Game Workers Unite International (@GameWorkers) June 2, 2018
I would argue that gold farming creators are busy feeding “easy free fast gold farming” viewer demands, hoping to get views they need in order to attract better advertising revenue, and to support their work. Then we lose the content creators, and another group of new creators appears, ready to fill the gaps. Google bats its eyelids innocently, and keeps scooping up the advert dollars. In 2017, Google’s ad revenue amounted to almost 95.4 billion US dollars.
Here at TGQ we are super lucky that we have no adverts
- No masters to please
- No google overlords
- Our independent blog is totally supported by Patreons
TGQ Gives You the Guide You Need, Not the Guide You Want
There is more to gold making than gathering a large amount of items in a short amount of time. There’s more to goldmaking than entertaining soundbites, and showing off big sales numbers.
We try to bring you a mix of opinions, strategies, routines, tips that you can put together to make a strategy that works for you.
We also have the free goldmaking email course, if you want to take it a step further. Recently updated, and ready for Battle for Azeroth.
Sometimes what you need is encouragement, to just keep doing what you’re doing.
Sometimes what you need is a reminder to look at something you’ve forgotten.
Sometimes what you need is just a friend for the journey.
That’s my job.

Ancient Mana Crystals
Suramar questline is part of the Legion Loremaster, and thus the Broken Isles Pathfinder achievement which awards flying in Broken Isles.

I farm mine in Azuregale Bay Here is the guide!

Hang on to your enchanting mats for now, because enchant scrolls will still sell for the next few months
Except: if you see them being sold at a very very low cost, in which case buy them now for saving for later, as the price may slowly go up again. In 2019 you will be crafting Legion gear for transmog sales. Perhaps keep a few stacks of herbs for inscription.
Don’t dump your Alchemy stock before BfA, because all those potions and flasks will be useable while leveling, both for you and for your customers on the AH.
