The State of Inscription 2016
Inscription
Players are worried that Inscription changes in Legion will make the profession useless and unprofitable.
Information about the professions in the Warcraft Legion Alpha are still sketchy but we do have a rough idea of what is going to happen.
In general, professions now need you to complete quests for patterns, which you then improve upon as your character matures and grows.
I get the feeling that devs want professions to feel like a side quest to the main quest lines. They want players out and about in the world, and have taken on board that sitting in a garrison crafting and selling is boring. But this means that they have done the complete opposite, bringing crafting and professions “into the wild”. Bad news for those with an army of alts they have rarely played. You’ll have to learn to play them now!
Inscription has always been linked with herbalism, requiring herbs to be milled. In Legion there continues to be a mass milling ability for the new Legion herbs. One thing to bear in mind is that herb nodes are lootable by more than one player, if the 2nd/3rd players get to the node quickly enough before it despawns. This could mean quite a lot of herbs in the market, especially if gold farmers stop derping around in AQ20 and learn to multibox.
Like ore, which can spawn as a node or as a seam, herbs can spawn as a single flower or as a cluster of plants.
Vantus Runes

The Vantus Runes are the new inscription creations that can be crafted, similar to scrolls.
It seems that Blizzard wants to move away from Inscription being a craft that creates many, many low profit item, to a profession where you craft a medium amount of medium price items. They did something similar with Jewelcrafting back in Warlords of Draenor. However, in Legion, the crafting mats will not be held back behind time-gated BoP crafted materials, instead they want players to pursue crafting items from level 1 to level 3 in each technique.
Vantus Runes are a new craftable item. The placeholder says that it allows the user to increase the damage against a world boss, but can only use one rune per week. I would guess that this will require careful organising in guilds that aim at the top raiding. For players who focus on top gold making instead, we will want to learn how to create these, and be the fastest to get them on the AH with the lowest cost of materials. I will continue to research in Legion Alpha for you all.
Major Glyphs
These are going away in Legion! Instead of Glyphs being a psuedo talent tree of their own, a minor glyph is now a tome, and once learned, it will be learned forever, no need to choose between minor glyphs like the current system. It will be applied directly to a spell in a players spellbook instead. Expect pruning of all glyph making!
Selling Glyphs
Players are worried about the future of Legion inscription profession.
Some have stopped making major glyphs. Some have stopped making glyphs altogether. Noone wants to be left with a guild bank full of unusable glyphs once Legion is launched. The competition in glyph markets is falling. Prices in glyphs has fallen until near the cost price.
However, once those super cheap glyphs have sold we find a new opportunity.
Some of the glyphs have no competition at all.
Some of the glyphs can actually be sold at pretty good prices right now.
Strange as that may seem! I’m selling glyphs at 3 times their previous prices, just because all the other competitors have fled the market.
I dont know if this might be the case on your server, but I would caution you against unlearning your Inscription profession.
If you know how to quickly make glyphs, using Trade Skill Master 3, then you can near-automate the process and produce them in an efficient manner.

Other profits with Inscription
Glyphs are not the only thing you can craft and sell with inscription. Certificates of ownership, kite pets and shoulder enchants continue to be profitable, bringing me hundreds of gold profit each sale, so check out the material costs and sales prices of these items on your own server.

Don’t buy your potions of luck. Make them.
Move from herd to herd of goats, AoEing them down in your favourite style. If you happen to run out of goats, or face competition, hop across to another server with the Cross Realm Assist or Server Hop addons. Hurray for AoE looting and looterangs. If you don’t have an engineer, or an engineering building in your garrison, you can grab a looterang from the auction house.

Blog Update
Been a while since I wrote, so I wanted to check in with everyone, and share the news.
Bad news first. My promise of entrance into the World of Warcraft: Legion Alpha back in January still hasn’t materialised, despite a reminder sent in February. Since then, the employee making the offer has left Blizzard. I’m not hopeful about reestablishing contact with Blizzard. Yeah. Bad news.
In better news, I’ve hit 32.5million gold made, with a lot of help from the garrisons and shipyards of my alts, a few high price sales, and many low price sales. I’m considering making 50 million my goal before Legion. As you know, going into previous expansions, I restarted from zero gold.
I had planned to livestream on twitch.tv a lot over Christmas and New Year 2015, however I didn’t expect depression to hit me quite so badly. I’m still fighting it but feeling a lot better with the warmer weather. Thank you for every single one of your warm wishes. They keep me going on the difficult days.
The other reason that I have been fairly quiet on The Gold Queen blog recently was that I was putting a lot of effort into other projects. I’ve had to do a lot of training, learning, and work behind-the-scenes. You’ll see why later in this post!

Story:
About five people in the world knew that in 2011/12 I started writing a professional, paid-for, world of warcraft gold guide. A members website with video and pdf content. As the year wore on and my hard drive crashed, my heating broke for weeks at a time, and with some other family pressures, I had to end my dream.
My dream woke up in 2016.
This year I would like to make what I have been building up for the last 7 years: my own professional Warcraft Gold Guide.
Here are some goals for it:

Fly to the cave, head inside, start AoEing

Why
In one hour you can get almost all the lovely charms needed for the Swift Lovebird mount. These sell for about 20,000g in 6 months time, or much less if you put them on the Auction House now
Tips
Only run around the front half of the cave, concentrating on the area with the webbed eggs, which when killed spawn spiderlings. Spiderlings give lots of charms. They die faster than the pale orcs.
Use ‘remove corruption’ to get rid of hallucinations.
The faster you farm Spider Egg Sacs, the faster they respawn. You can encourage this by /target Spider Egg Sac and only popping your AOE once the second set of egg sacs spawn. This in turn will encourage a third set of Spider Egg Sacs and Spiderlings!

When to sell Swift Lovebird
From last year’s data, you can see the quantity available decreasing over the year with the price increasing. I would personally start selling in 6 months time and hope to be finished selling by December 2016, 10 months from now.
For those that don’t like farming, like myself, you can profit from buying very cheap Swift Lovebirds now and selling them at an opportune moment around when Legion expansion releases.

To send followers on missions – to make gold
To equip ships with equipment for shipyard missions – to make gold

How To Farm Unlimited Garrison Resources
What you will need:
- A level 100 character that can access Tanaan Jungle, preferably flying to make it faster.
- Tomtom addon.
- A cross realm hopping addon like Cross Realm Assist or Server Hop.
Farming Instructions
Activate your addons and acquire some basic familiarity and comfort with their existence and use.
Fly to Tanaan Jungle, specifically Ruins of Kraanak
Create 3 macros with TomTom coordinates, and follow their route.
- type /macro
- click [new]
- name the macro (Tanaan 1, 2, 3, for example)
- cut and paste the macro contents into the [Enter Macro Commands] field
- drag the button for the macro to your hotbar
- click the buttons in turn
7. As you fly, pick up Apexis Shards.

8. When you run out of route, reclick the macros and follow the route around and around, because they will respawn.
Each lootable Apexis Shard contains 20-40 approx garrison resources, with possibly a BoP Baleful item for your character, and it will have a [Fel-Corrupted Apexis Fragment] if you have the [Unseen Influence] quest from your Tanaan base.

What If The Route is Empty of Apexis Fragments?
If your realm is being over farmed (a certain banned bot uses these coordinates to farm GR) then jump onto the next realm with your cross realm addon (Server Hop is a good one and is included in my Gold Making Addon Pack)
Lazy?
If you can’t even be bothered to fly around collecting the Garrison Resources, you can simply stand in one spot and server hop, farming as you see.
Evenlight cavern, entrance 29.14, 31.18 is a good place to do this, as you will be less visible to other players (who may not like realm hoppers) and it’s less likely to be farmed. No one likes going in caves.
Another good area is above the cave (28.24, 34.58 to 29.25, 34.2) and another good area is near Rasthe the bone serpent’s spawn point (16.13, 45.26 to 17.83, 45.35)
My character in these screenshots is also a miner, so I helped myself to the True Iron and Blackrock Ore along the route as well as doing my Tanaan dailies and the 4 rare mobs for the Tanaan Tango.
