TSM3 Guide List
Have you heard the cry of the TSM newbie?
Are you able to link me to some sort of resource that explains how to use trade skill master? I don’t understand how to use it.
How come TSM3 is so hard to learn?
How come there are only a few full TSM3 guides?
How come even The Gold Queen does TSM guides in steps rather than one big complete guide?

In my experience, learning Trade Skill Master should be done in stages, allowing each stage to be learned and practiced before moving on to the next.
Stage 1 always being “install TSM and dont touch anything, just watch how it changes your professions interface, and your Auction House and other UI windows.”
TSM4 is designed to be easier to learn than TSM3.
Once TSM4 comes out, hopefully there will be a lot more guides for you, especially written guides which I know you love.

TSM3 Video Guides
Some of these video guides were recommended by Trade Skill Master on their website.
They recommend some other guides too, but I’ve not reviewed them, whilst I know these guides are definitely useful for TGQ readers.
Hazelnutty Games
Hazelnutty does great Pet Battle guides, too. Check her youtube.
Phat Lewt’s Guides
Phat Lewts also ran a highly-respected Warcraft Gold Blog for several years.
Sheyrah’s TSM Guides
Sheyrah is the author of the famous Sheyrah’s TSM Pastebin – a resource that allows you to import all her tsm settings. She used to stream regularly with her partner Xionik.
Faid’s TSM Guides
Faid is also a well-respected old school Warcraft gold blogger, who now occasionally livestreams on twitch.

Trade Skill Master Configuration
Steps to learn TSM3
Step 1: Install it. Get the desktop app up and running and configured
Step 2: Don’t do anything. Just look at your professions windows, your auction house window, see how TSM also changes the vendor, mailbox and bank windows. Mouseover a few UI parts to see what the numbers mean. Look at the items in your inventory, mouseover them too, see how TSM changes the tooltip and gives you more data. Try to work out what that data means, and how knowing it might be useful. What could you use it for?
Step 3: Make your first group. Your first group should have one item, and one auctioning operation. Play with the group, see how it works. Post the item. See how changing the input values changes what happens at the AH.
Step 4: Increase to a group of items. Again, play, discover, be curious. Increase again to two groups, make a few groups with items in them.
Step 5: Progress until you have a group for one profession, example tailoring, with subgroups such as shirts, crafted bags, crafted transmog items from old content, crafted items from current content. Gain confidence in routinely posting these on the Auction House. When you understand and can trust TSM to post as you want it to, progress.
Step 6: Add crafting operations.
Step 7: Add Warehousing, vendoring, or mailing operations.
Step 8: Learn about sniping. Phew.
Step 9: Learn about import/export. Consider whether you want to import groups/operations, and if so, which sources are trustworthy, and which can you do yourself better?
Step 10: Learn about all the different TSM Sources and weigh up their pros and cons for your situation. Look at different operators
Step 11: You’re on your own, by now you should have noticed which places are good for getting information and how to get that information. Fly free, and make the gold gods be with you.
This is just a suggested step by step list off the top of my head. I may have missed out some steps. I may have lingered too long on steps that don’t interest you. Either way, the important point is that to take it step by step, chunk by chunk, learning one part leads to the next part. Racing up the ladder is the quickest way to fall off and sit at the bottom, rubbing a bump on your head, and vowing never to climb again.

Where’s the TSM4 Guide List?!
These resources are for TSM3 not TSM4. With changes still coming to TSM4, gold guide writers aren’t quite ready to write the TSM4 guides, but we will be on it as soon as TSM4 is fully created and released. Soon (TM)
Hey, I don’t even know what TSM is!

Sell Golden Draenite Now
In Battle for Azeroth, the tailoring pattern for Flying Carpet no longer uses Golden Draenite.

Flying Carpet materials in Legion and previous expansions

Prospect your Adamantite ore before Battle for Azeroth. If this change makes it to live, the value of Adamantite will be affected a little.

Here comes the tweetable
[bctt tweet=”Sell your Golden Draenite before Battle for Azeroth” username=”thegoldqueen”]

Iceweb Spider Silk
The new Flying Carpet pattern uses Iceweb Spider Silk instead of Golden Draenite
Iceweb Spider Silk is currently only 1-2g each and can be farmed easily in Naxxramas, Arachnid Quarter, and from Crystalweb Spitters who live in the cave just north of K3 in Storm Peaks, Northrend. You may want to pick up some Iceweb Spider Silk today at 1-2g to hold for a few gold profit, but don’t expect to make your fortune.
Sell Iceweb Spider Silk in stacks of 4

Battle for Azeroth Tailoring Materials Changes
Magnificent Flying Carpet still uses Monarch Topaz, according to datamine at Wowhead for BfA beta.
Remember, Battle for Azeroth is not yet live. This is still a beta situation. The change could be accidental and be reverted. The lack of change for the epic Carpet mount might be accidental, and Monarch Topaz could be removed. Keep an eye on it.
A similar tailoring item that uses an unusual gem is the Mooncloth Robe which uses Golden Pearls, now mostly commonly found from Blackwing Lair.
Mooncloth Robe currently also appears unchanged.

Get Super Rare Item Alerts by Email
We all know (and love) the Undermine Journal.
The Undermine Journal gives all sorts of wonderful WoW Auction House pricing data, both current and past,

The Undermine Journal – log in
Have you ever wondered what that “log in” means in the upper right hand side? An admin thing maybe? Perhaps just another sneaky way of stealing your data?
Nope. It’s one of the world’s best ways to get instant updates from your Auction House to your email.
And if you have a smart phone, then straight to your smart phone too. That’s instant AH info in your hand, 24/7.
By the way, sarcastic congrats to Gbanks, Ryczersbank and Baconbank on being immediately identifiable as a bank alt. Take my advice here and roll a much less noticeable name like Izzyy and Raerit have done (hello Stormreaver-EU!)
Why use Undermine Journal instead of just the Trade Skill Master Sniper?
TSM Sniper shows you items that are for sale at a noticeable lower price than e.g. market price.
TSM Sniper does not show you
- Items that haven’t been seen for a while and might be rare
- Items that fall below a certain price.
- When there are less than a set quantity on the AH
Definitely use TUJ and TSM both together
Here are some of my (secret!) notifications

Undermine Journal Market Notifications
As you can see, I’ve asked for a notification if the price of [redacted] drops below a set value, and if there is less than 1 secret pattern available. That means an instant email so I can buy the underpriced item, and a reminder to post my own pattern from my stash and reset the price much higher than normal.
I’ve also asked the undermine journal to send me emails immediately if uncommon weapon/armor is posted that hasn’t been seen for 3 weeks, if a recipe hasn’t been seen for 40 days or if a battle pet hasn’t been seen for 2 weeks. This should let me buy out any rare transmogs, rare (unavailable!?) recipes, and battle pets that are unusual on my server.
I set these up as an example for you.
It works for more than one server.
How To Get Updates From The Undermine Journal To Your Email
Step 1 : Log in. Link up your battle net to TUJ
Step 2: Subscribe! It’s $5 per 60 days. A miniscule price that helps Erorus fund the Undermine Journal servers
Step 3:

Paypal
Step 4:

TUJ Subscription Extended
Step 5:
Check your email is in here, and change the notification period to your liking. You could even put it on a RSS feed reader.

TUJ Message Delivery
Step 6:
Final Step, go to an item’s page and set up the information that you’d like to be notified about.
In this example, Honorable Longbow is 23k on EU-Nagrand. We set up a subscription to be instantly notified if any are posted under 20,000g.

Undermine Journal Market Notification

Undermine Journal Market Notification
Step 7:
Eagerly await your email (or RSS) notifications
Caution
Because the World of Warcraft API was recently unavailable, the undermine journal saw no items during this time. Items seen after this time appear to be rare. They’re not.
So wait until March 2018 to subscribe to Undermine Journal otherwise your email will flood with mistaken “hey we haven’t seen this item for weeks!” notification.

Faster Farming in World of Warcraft
We all want to gather gold faster in warcraft.
Being the fastest farmer means you can get more valuable items in a shorter time.
Bear Tartare
Bear Tartare is a “cooked” food that gives you a speed boost when farming mobs in world of warcraft. I say “cooked” but it’s basically raw bear meat and onions! If you spend at least 10 seconds eating you will become well fed and sprint for a short time after killing an enemy. This means that if you’re killing lots of mobs, like when you’re farming lots of beasts to loot and skin them, or you’re killing lots of humanoids for drops (such as the Den Whomper ogres), then eating Bear Tartare means you can farm faster.

Ingredients for Bear Tartare – Faster Farming
5 Fatty Bearsteak, 1 River Onion
River Onions are bought from the Legion kitchen ingredients in Dalaran (Broken Isles) in your faction kitchen. When you pick some up to cook your bear tartare, don’t forget to buy a few more to feed to your auction house for sale raw to lazy cooks. As of early 2018, the vendor sells these at 2g50s for 5 (50s each) but they can sell on the Auction House for 2g 74s each. That’s over five times their vendor price.
They’re likely to remain profitable well into the next expansion, as less players go to Dalaran, and for as long as Bear Tartare has the same well fed buff.

Fatty Bearsteaks come from, you guessed it, bears. Specifically, Broken Isles bears. The best place I have found for farming these are up in Highmountain. Stormheim is often full of farmers, but that may well change once Battle for Azeroth expansion releases.
Highmountain Fatty Bear Steak Farming

Stormheim Fatty Bear Steak Farming

Raw bear steaks on the Auction house have been slowly climbing in price as non-farmers get into gold farming towards the end of the Legion expansion. But you can bypass the AH by farming them yourself.

Need more Speed Boosts for Faster Farming in World of Warcraft?

Sprint, by James Zhang
Here comes the tweetable!
[bctt tweet=”Faster Farming is Faster Gold. I’m leaving you in my dust!” username=”thegoldqueen”]
Hunger of the Pack Trinket

2-4% chance to drop from Fenryr in Halls of Valor (normal, heroic, mythic 0 )
Buffs you with Sprint which gives you 70% speed increase for 6 seconds after killing an enemy.
The good news: the +30% boost comes after any mob that gives XP, and it stacks with spirit wolf, cat form, feline swiftness.
The bad news: You need to be level 110, and it doesn’t stack with sprint, dash, or nitro boosts. Remember, with scaling content, Broken Isles mobs are level 100-110.
With only a 2-4% chance to drop, you may want to farm this guy on repeat, remember the 10 instances per hour cap. Oh, and don’t take a hunter with you to help out, he’ll only try to tame the beastie!

Other Speed Boosts for Faster Warcraft Gold Farming

http://www.alexhorleyart.com
Draenic Swiftness Potion

This is the Draenic version of the Swiftness Potion. However, it’s duration is almost cut in half from 15 seconds to 8 seconds. To make up for this shortcoming, the Draenic version increases your movement speed by 70% and your swim speed by 200%. Both have a 1 minute CD. At first I disliked the duration buff then it dawned on me that why not just use both?
Mats: Crescent Oil (made by an alchemist with garrison fish) and Blackwater Whiptail, which are Talador fish.

Swiftness Potion Herbs / Mats farming

Swiftness Potion Farming in Alterac
While you’re in Alterac, don’t forget to look for Frozen Herbs, and for the Frost Oil Recipe, and if you’re horde, have a try at getting the Black Tabby cat carrier pet from the mobs around the southern headlands areas.

#BagsForAzeroth – What is Bags for Azeroth?
BagsForAzeroth is inspired by FriendshipMoose, an initiative in WoD for helping many people across the world to gain the Grove Warden mount from Heroic Archimonde.
#BagsForAzeroth is my idea for helping new World of Warcraft players.
The idea is that veteran World of Warcraft players to help brand new Warcraft Battle for Azeroth players by finding them and giving them bags.
How Does Bags For Azeroth work?
By Who? At least one player per faction per realm, both EU and NA. We could get entire guilds involved!
When? First 1-6 weeks of Battle for Azeroth
To Who? To brand new World of Warcraft Battle for Azeroth players. We are still discussing whether returning players can be included, and if so, how to differentiate.
What? You give away crafted 12, 16, 20+ slot bags to new players. Quality of bags to be decided by people who are involved. There are 14 slot bags you can buy from the Traveller’s Tundra Mammoth mount that would be perfect for level 1s. New Level 110s might get hexweave bags or smaller.
Check? How do we know these are new players? Maybe checking their armory? Maybe their pets? Achieves? We’ll be discussing this among organisers. We’re already discussing this on the organiser’s discord.
Why bags, not gold? Apparently bags are more useful than gold.
How? Perhaps during Twitch Livestreaming, or perhaps just during the course of gameplay, taking screenshots as it happens.
Promotion? I’d like the organisers to help with creating the website, www.bagsforazeroth.com to bring it together, and of course to document and celebrate bags that are given away. We already have a Twitter hashtag #bagsforazeroth. So that this idea can originate with me but take on its own life and evolve.
Plan? Let’s create some waves, and some positivity in the Gaming world! Let’s see some headlines saying “old players welcome new warcraft players with free gifts!”
How to avoid scams? By not pre-advertising when you will be doing #bagsforazeroth until it’s done, by checking players are newbies, and other means that we’ll discuss amongst the organisers.
More ideas about this? It’s open for discussion!
What help do we need?
Right now: Organisation help, reaching out to influencers, commitment to helping out, ideas,
Before Battle for Azeroth Launch: Tailoring help, promotion help, getting guilds involved help
After launch: Giving away bags, promotion, streaming, celebrating
Here comes the tweetable!
[bctt tweet=”Battle for Azeroth? More like Bags for Azeroth! AMIRITE?” username=”thegoldqueen”]
Where can you find out more about Bags for Azeroth?
I want to give away or make bags You should check out the Bags for Azeroth website once it’s up and running. You’ll find us at www.bagsforazeroth.com
I want to receive bags To receive bags you must simply start playing world of warcraft. Hang around the starting areas, do the starting quests, demonstrate your interest in the game, and if you’re lucky, one of us will come and help you with a gift.
I want to help organise You need to come to the discord. You’re especially welcome if you are an influencer and you actually want to help and organise, not just being curious. Poke me on twitter or by email to get hold of the discord link, or ask another organiser.
I’m just curious Check out the website, once we’re all organised. www.bagsforazeroth.com
