My name is Alyzande, I’m a 37 year old single mum living in Cambridge in the UK. Yes, Alyzande is my real name, I’m lucky to have such a lovely name, and the only one in the world. I have two young sons.

I’ve been playing WoW since its release, and started raiding in Zul Gurub and Molten Core. I have been playing the same main character, a night elf druid, since the day I started. I don’t tend to share her name because I’m not in a hurry to be trolled on my server. Since 2011, I’m a “casual”, it’s not easy to find time to play WoW, write a blog, and be two parents to my kids, so the hardcore raiding had to give.

It was after finishing Black Temple as a resto druid that I began to think I’ve done everything, I’ve completed everything in the game, and I re-specced as a feral druid and started getting into the Auction House gold making game. It was with some shock that I realised a few months later that I was one of the richest on the server. Since then, I’ve played hard, been one of the first to over 9,000 achievement on my server, despite not being interested in PvP, battlegrounds or arena. Crimson deathcharger, Armani warbear, ‘Light of Dawn’, blue dragonhawk mount all under my belt, although ‘The Immortal’ is one I haven’t chased yet.

I think it was in the middle of Wrath of the Lich King that my guild mates started asking for help with their gold making, followed by complete strangers on the server. I was happy to help because I was proud of being able to share. They kept telling me I should write a gold guide, although I laughed at the time, I eventually started this blog you’re reading called The Gold Queen, which is a joke name my eldest son gave me mummy you’re like the queen of gold making!

I love how the blog has taken off, and the number of people I’ve been able to help. I’ve also had some great fun on the members forum. It’s a closed membership but free to join for genuine WoW gold-game players. And now with the first of the new mini-guides taking off and becoming popular, the Pet Shop mini-guide, I’m stood in shock looking how far I’ve come. And you can come this far too, if you wish, because I’m writing this to show you just how normal I am, just another WoW player who got rich. Wanna get rich along with me? Email subscription is free, forum membership is free, mini-guides are super cheap.

In a few weeks I will be taking the big step of becoming a full-time blogger, making my blog my official job! Thank you for your support in this, it’s great to be able to support my family doing something I love. It’s gonna be a wild journey, are you coming along for the adventure with me?

The Gold Queen is written by Alyzande. With many level 100s, 9 years expertise in making gold, 10 garrisons, 16k achievements, 1505 days played, and over 18m gold earned. The Gold Queen blog teaches you how to make gold playing World of Warcraft using ethical trading, auction house flipping, crafting, reselling snatch lists, and farming gold making.

The first rule of the WoW Gold Club is: You do not talk about WoW Gold Club.

The second rule of WoW Gold Club is: You do NOT talk about WoW Gold Club.

As Cold in his Gold Factory and PowerWord:Gold have blogged about recently, you need to keep an eye on your competition, and what they are doing.  Put your competition on your friend’s list. Watch their movements.  Check when they come online.  Check when they log off, and go and undercut them when they can’t do anything about it.  Check where they are farming, and work out why.

But

Have you considered that they are also watching you? You’re on their friend’s list. Your competition are also waiting for you to log off so they can undercut you. They are also watching all your movements and checking what you are doing and why.  The last thing you want is a particular competitor taking your auctioning personally and putting his effort into destroying your wow business. Here is a list of things you can do to counter their espionage.

World of Warcraft Auction House Counter-Espionage

  • The first rule of WoW gold making is you do not talk about WoW gold making.
  • Have several alts
  • Change which items you post from each alt.
  • Change the times that you post your auctions.
  • Become unpredictable in your daily routine.
  • Vary the times you buy limited supply items, and vary the alts you use to buy them with.
  • Move your alts into different guilds from time to time – easier on a busy server to disappear into the crowd.
  • Try not to let your alts become identified with each other or with your main.
  • Occasionally undercut your alts to throw your competition off the scent.
  • Post from different Auction Houses.
  • Hide in a crowd: In an empty city like Shattrath or Exodar, the AH alts names are easy to recognise.
  • Create AH level one alts with very different names. Different from each other, and different between themselves.   “Jacksbank” and “Jacksgems” are easy to link.
  • Make a name that sounds like a main.
  • Delete your level 1 and make a new one.
  • Take the day off occasionally, ignore the AH completely.  You lose a day’s takings but you also lose your visibility.
  • Use unusual and foreign letters in your alts name/s.  You’re harder to target if they can’t type your name.
  • Don’t tell the public, or your guild, about your alts, except for trustworthy friends (YMMV)

Talking Points: Do you have any more tips for avoiding AH PvP trouble?  Do you prefer to seek out trouble?  Have any of these ideas prompted you to reconsider your naming?  You can use this image if you credit it back to this website btw!

Part 3 in the series of Ultimate Warcraft Secrets

Thank you everyone for all the entries into the competition to win the Razer Naga MMORPG Mouse.  It was fascinating to read about which parts of gold making concern you the most, and I appreciate you all taking the time to write such detailed comments.

The winner is Reg4c with his comment:

Definitely, my biggest issue is the fact that I’m scared to make big investments. Talking in the sense that once I become heavily invested in something the market for it will crash.

That’s the reason why I didn’t cash in on the Whiptail respawn increase. Stacks were going for as low as 20g and I could’ve had a few hundred of them to sell in a week for at least double that but I was scared to take the plunge.

Congratulations Reg4c, please email me with your snail mail name and address so I can post out your new Razer Naga mouse, which will be on Monday after my Royal Wedding Hangover!

Thank you very much everyone who entered, the comments were fantastic.  Congratulations to Reg4c, but also congratulations in advance to everyone who entered.  With your comments, I will be able to write some amazing posts that will answer the questions that worry you the most.

It is with great pride that I want to tell you about what I’ve been working on recently. You won’t be surprised to hear that I am writing my own World of Warcraft Gold Guide. However, this gold guide will be very different. I’m responding to the number of questions I get in email and through the website. Instead of being one big expensive and difficult to learn guide, with lots of information to take in, I will be writing this guide as a set of mini guides.  Each mini guide will be focused on one topic, and address a single need.

A big idea, in mini steps

  • Pick and Choose from among the mini-guides to find the ones that fit what you want to learn.
  • buffet or smorgasbord of WoW Gold Guides.
  • Choose the ones you like, and ignore the others!
  • No membership area, no need to work through hours of videos.
  • The miniguides will fit together to or can be used alone.
  • Buy as a set, or buy on their own.

The first guide is the guide to making your own Pet Shop in World of Warcraft

Pet Shop Mini Guide

I know how to make gold selling pets on the AH, and I can teach you how to do it too. I can show you everything about it and give you my techniques that I use. The miniguide is 5,000 words, so it does cover a lot.

I’ve nervous and excited about launching my first miniguide, and hope the guide gives you the information that you want, shows you what you need to learn, and is well presented for you.

We all have different needs in world of warcraft gold making. Whether it is starting from scratch, or tweaking an advanced addon to get just the right data from the Auction House.

This ebook addresses just ONE of those needs.

The Unofficial WoW Gold Mini Guides: Your Pet Shop Business

  • How to set up an entire in-game business
  • How to get your pets
  • How to find your buyers
  • How to post pets
  • How to store them
  • What mats you’re going to need if you want to craft them

I know some great tricks about where to get some pets that other people don’t sell, and that will give you a competitive advantage.

Patch 4.1 has two new achievements for pet collectors: Petting Zoo for collecting 100 pets, and Menagerie for collecting 125 pets. According to devs, neither achievement will reward any new minipet, but they’ll still be nice for minipet collectors, especially those near the 100 or 125 mark.

As gold-makers in World of Warcraft, we will be more interested in these pet achievements for the opportunity to make gold from players!

One of my level 1 bank and auction house alts acts as a Pet Shop business, making a regular amount of gold from this super niche WoW business. ÂWith a guild bank full of rare pets, I use my alt to auction off the hard-to-find pets, as well as those that are cheap and easy to get.  Players are often too lazy to search for the sources of the pets themselves, and think of the mini companion pets as a treat or reward and a pleasant way to spend their extra gold.  Naturally, we want to cash in on this.

Another addition in 4.1 is the cute winterspring cub, an absolutely adorable lilac baby to match the Wintersaber mount.  I believe he is Bind on Equip so can be sold in the Auction House to other players like the other BoE minipets.  It’s one I’m going to want on all my alts.

If you want to make lots of gold with your own pet selling business please keep your eyes open for my next post, which will be quite a long one.
