As the World of Warcraft patch 4.3 release date nears, and parts of the patch completed testing and are ready for background downloading, I’m starting to work through patch changes for you. I’m looking specifically at how they will affect us as gold gamers.
Maelstrom Crystal Shatter
We’ve seen an enchanting shatter before with the Abyss Crystal Shatter. Blizzard typically introduce this to correct the problems they make by filling a dungeon with purple epic loot drops instead of a more balanced selection of epics, blues and greens.
Abyss Crystal Shatter < infinite dust, cosmic essence
Maelstrom Crystal Shatter < 2 heavenly shards
Maelstrom Shatter and Bountiful Bags
I can’t log on WoW at the moment so I can’t check. Could a reader with PTR access kindly check whether bountiful bags guild perk works with shatters. Any extra heavenly shards would always be welcome!
To Shatter or Not To Shatter?
That is the question.
Once 4.3 is live you should shatter if the selling price of heavenly shards is more than half the value of a maelstrom Crystal.
If in doubt, keep it raw.
Patch 4.3 Availability of Maelstroms
In patch 4.3, all cata heroics plus ZA/ZG will become equal in terms of jp/vp rewards.
Also new 5 man heroics will give epic loot, which disenchant to maelstroms.
Stockpile for 4.3?
With any patch, there is an initial surge of players upgrading gear. New gear, new armor, needs new enchants. We can’t predict the RNG of which armor drops first so either keep a small stock of the most popular scrolls, ready for auctioning at AH, or keep your ench mats raw.
Gold gamers over 500k
If you have spare gold, if you’re looking for an investment, just scoop up low-lying ench mats ready for 4.3, but be aware that values will slowly decline over the course of the patch. These are for immediate resale.
If you’re under 100k, I don’t think its worth the risk. Play ball with Blizz, and get your maelstroms from heroics and trading honor and jp.
Keep shuffling for dust and essence, and keep your eyes open for under-priced shards and crystals. Good luck.

We don’t have a definite date for patch 4.3 Dragon Soul. However, we know that some data has begun streaming in background downloader. We’re clearly beginning to move from patch 4.3 speculation to new patch rollout preparation.
Patch 4.3 date
Arena season is due to close on November 29 so we’re looking at a potential patch release date the following or next week!

Patch 4.3 announces chaos orbs unbound
Good * everyone can now roll for, own, and trade chaos orbs.
Bad * only those with the relevant profession patterns can use them, ie the same as now.
Chaos orbs will now have a level value. This will impact on every single item craftable from chaos orbs. 300g per orb to a blacksmith and 20g per orb to a leatherworker? No more.
Currently if you want to have an item crafted the mats of which include a chaos orb then you would bring the correct crafting materials to the professional crafter plus a high fee to cover his her chaos orbs plus crafting fee tip.
New system for 4.3 you will bring the correct crafting mats including the right number of chaos orbs plus a crafters fee tip. You will be able to buy a chaos orb on the auction house, maybe from a friend or guild mate or just pick one up by winning the roll at the end boss of a 5 man heroic.
How to work with chaos orbs now
New patterns are coming, making current patterns out of date. If you have any items crafted with chaos orbs then sell them quick before their value plummets. Ask traders and friends if they have Alts that could use the item, sell them any way you can.
Hang on to your chaos orbs to use them or to sell them in 4.3.
Keep your eyes open for patch 4.3.1 just in case blizzard implement a chaos orbs trader like Mr frozen orbs in dalaran.
Got any more tips for chaos orbs in 4.3? Please comment.

I was attacked last week by 5 men. It was such a shocking severe attack that I’m writing this from hospital. It even made the national newspapers. (The Sun / The Mirror) I’m officially out of action and the blog is being cared for by Warcraft Econ.
So here I am, in a complete f_cking mess, and its natural to wonder just how important is wow gold compared to life and death. War, rape, starvation?
It’s essential. Play is an essential relaxation, in whichever form you enjoy. Add in the social aspect. I know several disabled gamers whose lives were bleak before Azeroth. Then we have intellectual stimulation. Hand eye coordination. Play is good for you.
There is something very special about wow gold gamers. We refuse to solely follow the prescribed paths of questing, raiding, Pvp or roleplay as our exclusive measurement of success and achievement. We are ambitious, self sufficient, non-conformists. Woah.
A parable.
As a child, you’re told “eat all your dinner, children are starving in Africa”. How does eating all my dinner benefit or hinder them !? The best response is to gratefully nom your dinner, and offer regular help to a charity that can help those hungry. Throwing your dinner away solves nothing.
So my lesson today is enjoy making world of warcraft gold. Treasure what you have. Be grateful for your luck.
Instead of your next cup of coffee, donate a few £ or $ to www.justgiving.com/rapecrisisengland-Wales/donate (charity 286098)
Hopefully I will be out of hospital in a few weeks and giving you new 4.3 guides. Pro-tip: hoard chaos orbs, cheap volatiles, and jc tokens.
No bastards will stop me doing what I love: making wow gold.

What the bloody hell is going on?
That was my question to a friend on Twitter a few days ago. I’ve been on holiday to Serbia to meet up with a guy who makes PvP movies professionally. I had no mobile internet on my smart phone, but I did manage to get into some WiFi towards the end of the last week. Anyway, as far as I can tell, all hell broke loose on Twitter and in the Gold Making Community when “Just My Two Copper” (JMTC) launched WoW Crusher late last week. Yes. I’m late to the party, as usual.
This week, JMTC got whooshed off the Undermine Journal TUJ and Consortium BlogRoll. Consortium Link. Personally, I think that’s a shame, because the guys who write for JMTC now are obviously new to it and could do with all the support they can get. That said, I believe they are paid for their work. Can anyone confirm/deny?
Anyway, the big scandal this week was the introduction of WoW Crusher. Â The main sticking points seem to be:
1) Price.
2) “That’s not Markco!”
Price
WoW Crusher is subscription based, rather than a one-off cost. Â I don’t approve of paying a lot of money for a load of crap. Â Lets just say that if the content matches the price, then there should be no issue. Â Does the content match the price? Â You’ll have to see for yourself, to be honest, it’s a subjective opinion. Â This is my affiliate link. Â That means that if you do decide WoW Crusher is worth the cash, then I’ll receive a bonus from WoW crusher as a thank you for introducing you. Â If you don’t, no harm done *wink*
That’s Not Markco!
Anyone who was friends with Markco during his time running Just My Two Copper will recognise that Markco from the WoW Crusher movie isn’t the same person as the Markco from 20kLeveling. Markco sold the rights to JMTC and to the name “Markco” about a month ago for about 50k.
In the UK we had a similar marketing FAIL, but more publicly on the TV adverts, when Captain Birdseye was shuffled off to an early grave and replaced by a rugged, 20 year old. Read about that on Wiki Here. I think the problem lies in how familiar and friendly old-Markco was to everyone, and how he has been replaced by a ‘brand’. It sets off everyone’s “lie detector”, because they’re used to seeing “Markco” as a person, not as a brand. Most of the TV adverts use actors for their brands, not home movies of real people in their own homes.
Wait, I see The Gold Queen on their sales page!?
You spotted me! Yes, I was contacted by the JMTC team, first for the 20k Leveling guide 4.3 patch update, and then for a series of high def gold guide movies. There are 4, about 10 minutes each. I’m still learning how to make wow movies, so I’m proud of how well they came out. About 8 hours each, with research, filming, directing, voicing, and editing. I used Blizzard’s own music because WoW rocks.
Are you profiting from this too?
Hold on there! I made them free. I don’t get paid for this. I was offered a large payment, and turned it down.
If you want to see my movies, they’re also free to readers/viewers. Â Just put in your email address and they’ll send you them. They’re not my best “tips” because I don’t like farming, but if you want to learn about:
Which Ore to farm, where to get Herbs that sell well, how to multi task, or to see the enchanting part of my Elementium Shuffle in action. I demonstrate gatherer, carbonite, trade skill master, big picture (yes that really is 25,000g worth of enchantments on the AH!) and auctionator addons.
If you want my best tips, enjoy the archives here at The Gold Queen, maybe I should make a “best of” guide?
Have I sold out too?
No, silly.
Anyway, hope that clarifies a little my feelings on WoW Crusher.

World of Warcraft Event Day of the Dead
The Day of the Dead is a one-day-only seasonal event that falls every November 1st.
During the Day of the Dead, the people of Azeroth gather in graveyards to celebrate and cherish the spirits of those they have lost. One can find the festivities in the cemeteries of any major city where celebrants cook, drink, don costumes and more.
Can you feel it? The spirit world draws close during the Day of the Dead. This is why we decorate the graves of our dearly departed with flowers and candles and offerings: to welcome them back, even if only for a time.
Learn more about this event, available on November 1 only, from our friends at Wowhead:Â http://www.wowheadnews.com/blog=196986/day-of-the-dead-nov-1st-guide
How to Make Gold Today
Wowhead’s guide tells readers to
“Tip: Get some
Simple Flour and
Ice Cold Milk (at least 1 of each) before heading to a graveyard. This will save you traveling time when doing the quest below.!
So my simple tip for today is check your auction house for competitors, then see if you can sell a few Simple Flour and Ice Cold Milk for above-vendor price today. Buy them from the cooking trainer in your inn.
Alternately, package up a set of flour and milk and sell through trade chat or by whispers to lazier players at the quest starting npc in the graveyard.
