Should I Make Darkmoon Cards?
How much should I pay for them?
What will you sell decks for?
A few days into the expansion, and players are anxious about Darkmoon Card prices.
The crafting materials include either Spirit of Harmony (farmable) or scroll of wisdom, which can be made once per day. As the scroll of wisdom are also used for epic BoA staves, this puts players into a quandary about whether to use the scrolls now for cards, or save them to make an epic staff or offhand.
My gut feeling is to make a few cards, and some gold to keep you going. Then as the market matures, make the staff/offhands. As raiding starts, and players begin to demand raid-ready items, the demand for the staff/offhand items will increase.
Once players have one char at 90, these Bind on Account items can be passed to the next alt to be leveled up.
When is Darkmoon Faire?
Darkmoon Faire starts 12:00AM server time, October 7 and finishes 11:59pm, 13 October 2012.
Make your cards now before October 7th. From October 12th, start buying the cheap deals on the cards from players who have made a card which is over represented in the AH. In other words, if there are a bazillion 6 of Cranes, then the prices will crash, so you can buy the cheapest and hoard it for the November Darkmoon Faire.
[box type=”warning”] Please only buy if you can afford to lose the gold. The November prices are not guaranteed. A good rule is only to buy things which you know you can use yourself, if the market crashes. [/box]
From 13 Oct, make staves and offhands.
As November Darkmoon Faire approaches, make cards, and prepare your cards which you gathered cheaply at October Darkmoon Faire.
[box type=”info”] Aim: Make gold now, and make a lot of gold in November Darkmoon Faire. [/box]
November Darkmoon Faire is Sunday, 04-Nov-2012 to Saturday, 10-Nov-2012.
How much should I sell and buy the Darkmoon Cards for?

Fluctuating Mists of Pandaria Prices
Prices on the Auction house for basic Mists of Pandaria items are in flux. Basically we have massive demand, matched with massive supply of basics (ghost iron ore, green tea leaf, exotic leather), yet very small supply of high-skilled crafted items (living steel, level 90 gear, flasks)
Price Tracking
If you’re finding it hard to keep track of your server prices whilst WoWuction and The Undermine Journal get up to speed, then let your addons take the strain. If you use Auctioneer, then regular scans and Market Watcher can help you track prices. If Trade Skill Master is your addon of choice, you no longer need to do regular scans. The TSM app sits on your desktop and feeds hourly data to your addon.
Now is the best time to decide to make Mists of Pandaria your expansion.
Start your gold-making ambition with a gold guide.
Marcus Ty’s guide is much bigger, and more comprehensive than my Teen’s Gold mini Guide. I chat with him on twitter and he’s actually a pretty nice, smart guy. (NotABot!) Have a look to see if his is the right guide for you.
[quote]Marcus says:
“I’ve Sweated Hours At The Keyboard So You Don’t Have To
So I set myself the task of learning all I could about the game mechanics of gold creation. How gold cycles through the game; the pivotal roles played by the Auction house and the Professions. I slowly dissected the inner-most workings of the wow gold economy.
By understanding the wow gold economy I found that I could predict the buying and selling cycles that occurred in the game. Slowly, but surely, I began to make gold. A little at first – 1-2k a playing session – and then larger amounts – until I had the gold for my epic chopper mount.
I sought out other like-minded players who had the same fascination with the workings of the gold economy. We exchanged ideas on the best best gold making strategies for the Auction House and for each of the Professions.
I collected, dissected and digested the very best of these strategies and together with my understanding of the wow gold economy created my Journal series of guides. Not just a random collection of hints and tips but a complete gold making system, structured into self-contained and illustrated guides.” [/quote]

The Tillers in Mists of Pandaria
As well as acting like a normal reputation faction, there are 10 Tillers NPCs with whom you can increase your faction reputation from Stranger to Best Friend.
The easiest and fastest way to get rep with each of the NPCs is to give them a gift.
You can find out which gift they each like by talking to them. They have particular preferences which give more rep than giving them another gift.
You can find the gifts in the Dark Soil patches which spawn around the farming area in Valley of the Four Winds.

Map of Dark Soil Spawn Points
Dark Soil Patches look like this:
You can also gather the gifts from your own farm, when you harvest a crop, if you’re lucky.
None of the rewards are very useful for making gold. They’re mostly decorative. Even when you get to exalted status and earn the option to ask one of your Best Friends to join you at the ranch, they don’t do much farming. Chooseing Jogu the Drunk gives you free predictions for crops, one second’s flight closer, and choosing Gina Mudclaw moves the faction vendor one second closer. However, you still need to go to the market to buy seeds, so both are a waste of time in my opinion.
Songbell Seeds
One of the types of seeds, which is first offered to you by Haohan Mudclaw are Songbell seeds. These harvest a mote of harmony. Dedicating your farm to songbell plants will net you 1.6 Spirit of Harmony per day. Nice if you’re not feeling violent.
Farming Valley of the Four Winds
An unexpected bonus for you. My maps of ore and herbs from Valley of the Four Winds. Naturally they’re only nodes that I have visited myself, on the beta. So you will be able to get new ones soon. However they should help you in the few days before you are able to generate your own maps with Gatherer or GatherMate 2.

Patch 5.04 and Patch 5.1
Patch 5.04 has hit the servers, and there is a mounting excitement in the Auction Houses.
Items which have held their value all through Cataclysm are starting to slip.

- Queen’s Garnet
- Shadow Spinel
- Lava Coral
- Lightstone
- Elven Peridot
- Deepholm Iolite
- Transmog items which used to sell for 5,000g now selling for 2000g instead
- Enchantment scroll prices have plummeted
- Cloth, due to AoE looting
Increasing prices
- Increased and sustained demand for Battle Pets.
Gold Queen Blog News
The Gold Queen blog has been very quiet for the last two months. I haven’t forgotten you!
July-August Summer Vacation
I’ve had my children home on school holidays. My children are aged 12 1/2 (allowed to play WoW without his school pursing their lips at my degenerate mothering skillz) and I have a 8 year old with Autism Spectrum Disorder who is allowed to play WoW occasionally as long as I’m there watching and has his guild invite privs removed. I haven’t had as much time to blog or to play WoW as I would have liked, 12 hours a day, please!
Gold Guides For Sale
The Pet Shop Guide was withdrawn for sale, so I can work on making it into a larger Battle Pets guide. You can still purchase the Teen Gold Guide, which is the starter guide, mostly for players with little time.
Gold Guide
I’ve been writing a Gold Guide for the last 18 months. I’m crap at promotion though, so you’ll just have to wait until it’s finished if you want to know more about it! Let’s just say I’ve been working my socks off until 4am many nights this year. *sleepyface*

Buyer’s Remorse
A reader emailed asking if I had experienced Buyers Remorse after buying the Swift Spectral Tiger Mount.
Emails
We get a lot of emails at The Gold Queen and although Community Manager Matojo answers where she can, sometimes the personal questions need a personal reply.
Did you really spent 1 mill gold on spectral tiger? They sell now on my server for 300k each. I’ve made a million gold in this expansion but recently my son decided to go on a shopping spree and bought himself a X-51 rocket mount for 135,000g when I went to the store to buy groceries.
Do you regret spending that much gold on one mount?
Courage
Yes I really did spend 800,000g on a swift spectral tiger. At the time that I bought it, it was a steal, 200,000g less than the usual price.
Since then, the prices have fallen very low due to Trading Card Game item duping, which has flooded the market.
You can see the effect this has had on the market at sites that map prices, like WoWuction
They’re listing as an average of 5-600,000g on the EU at the moment due to this duping.
Regrets
I don’t have any regrets about paying for what I knew to be a genuine item.
It was something that I had wished for for 6 years, and it took a great deal of courage to spend it all in one go.
It wasn’t just that special mount that I bought that weekend in April. I also spent another 300,000g on gear and achievements that I knew would last me six months until Mists of Pandaria.
The “do you regret it”issue is a similar to a raiding issue I had recently. I was explaining where I got my T3 chest, and said that I raided Naxxramas with 40 people. The person I was explaining to simply laughed and said “you had to take 40 people into Naxx? I can go there with a few mates just to farm, you must be a real nub if you needed 39 others with you lol“.
So what I really paid for when I got my Swift Spectral Tiger was the opportunity to be one of the first on my server with the mount. I never need worry about saving up for him again. I’ve named him “Doug” by the way!!
Do you forgive your son yet for spending all that gold on your mount? I hope so, because it can take courage to spend a lot of gold on any one item.
Here comes the tweetable:

The One That Got Away
I well remember the time the Swift Spectral Tiger came up for sale on my server for 750,000g, back at the beginning of 2012. Because every copper of my gold is earned the hard way, by farming, crafting, or AH sales, it took lots of courage to click “buyout” on that mount. I quivered for a few seconds before hitting the confirm button. Can you imagine my cries when the AH told me that the Swift Spectral Tiger was no longer for sale! Someone had actually bought it between the time I clicked “buyout” and “confirm”. omg.
Over to You
Have you ever had a mount or expensive item like that swiped from under your nose?
How much do you need to spend on an item before you start to experience buyer’s remorse?

Daily Gold Cheat Sheet Updated
We’ve updated the Daily Gold Cheat Sheet to a Mists of Pandaria version. You should now be prompted to do your Tillers dailies instead of going to the Molten Front, for instance. If you’re not on the list to get a free copy of this, just send me your email address in the form underneath.
Pet Shop Guide
We’ve withdrawn the Pet Shop Guide ebook from sale. This is because we need to do a complete overhaul of where to get pets, which pets sell well, and how to have some fun with your battle pets.
Pets values will become volatile as many pets flood the market in 5.04, however patience and tenacity will see you through as the demand will continue to exist and grow over the coming months. Do not be frightened to buy pet bargains in this time. Don’t panic sell, either.
Pet values will also be affected by rarity and by their effectiveness and perceived effectiveness in battles, rather than just visuals.
