Cross Realm Farming Part 3 – Heavenly Herbs

Tanaan Jungle Cross Realm Herb and Ore Farming – New Technique

What if you could make herbs and ore appear at your feet?

Would you be interested in that?

Part 1 in series introduces you to how to cross realm.

Read the earlier parts of the series to learn how to jump from realm to realm.

The new farming technique needs the following:

  • Addon required: Cross Realm Assist
  • Herbalism or Mining
  • Level 100 or ability to get into Tanaan
  • Flying in Draenor is not required

The Old Farming Techniques

Remember the days of flying around from herb to herb, picking the herb, moving on to the next one, picking that herb, flying on, following a route?

Ok maybe you don’t.

Maybe you’re a WoD Garrison baby.

Those days are over

An old farming route

The New Farming Technique

Gold makers were worried that bots would get into Tanaan Jungle and start farming up those raw mats, ore, herbs, fish, felblight, leather, cloth. So far I’m not seeing as much of that as I was warned about.

The bots should be worried about us.

Now, you stay in one spot, and use crossrealm-assist to jump from realm to realm, scooping up their herbs.

Choose a small area you can reach easily, and when it runs out of herbs, hop over to the next realm, and pick all their herbs!

Tanaan

This works especially nicely in Tanaan where it’s easy to find cross realm groups available, and where the nodes also drop Felblight and Primal Spirits.

This should work with ore and herbs, but not with leather, as I’m afraid you have to kill the beast to get its leather first.

I still don’t know all the tricks for the new Trade Skill Master 3 Addon. It’s still in Beta.  So from time to time I look through it, looking for new updates and discovering how they work and how I can get rich.

If you open /tsm

and click “TSM Features”

then the Inventory Viewer tab, not only do you get a total value of your items, but you also get a searchable and filterable list of all your items. For fun I sorted the list according to Total Value of item/s. The top items were shocking

I didn’t know I had these things or that they were worth any gold!

You can bet that I’m going straight to my bank, grabbing them, and putting them on the Auction House

The Spectral Tiger Owner’s Club

The Spectral Tiger Owner’s Club is a column featuring the elite gold makers of World of Warcraft who have bought the expensive Trading Card Game Mount “Spectral Tiger”, either the rare blue, tiger, or the epic purple tiger mount.

Today we have Roxi who will be sharing her success story.

Spectral Tiger

Please tell us a little about yourself, how long you have been playing Warcraft, and what parts of it you enjoy the most.

I’ve been playing World of Warcraft since the launch of Cataclysm and enjoy end game content, the most. Raiding & challenge modes were my favorite part of the game before I went more casual, this expansion.

When did you see your first Spectral Tiger mount, and how did you feel?

I saw my first Spectral Tiger on my first server called “Ghostlands”. It was being used by the guild master of the top guild on the server. I was very impressed and hadn’t seen anyone else with one. I felt very overwhelmed at the thought of saving enough gold to get one.

How long did it take you to get the gold you needed for the Spectral Tiger?

I actually waited to purchase a Spectral Tiger. I had saved up 3.2 million gold. Finally, I decided I would treat myself & spend around 500k on the next one that I saw for sale on the auction house. None were up, though. That night, I saw someone selling a Swift Spectral Tiger in trade chat so I jumped at the opportunity.

How much did your Spectral Tiger cost?

My Swift Spectral Tiger cost 220,000 gold.

How did you get the gold you needed to pay for it? Did you use professions, garrisons, sell services for other players, or work the Auction House?

I sold gold challenge mode carries to other players for in game currency during Mists of Pandaria.

Thinking about how you made the gold you needed, how did you learn how to make it? Was it an easy process or was it a steep learning curve?

Learning how to run challenge modes so that my team could complete them on gold with only 4 people was definitely a challenge. Once we got through that, it was smooth sailing to get the mounts that I wanted.

What addons, if any, do you use to help you make gold?

When I am playing the auction house, I use Auctionator.

Do you have any other gold making goals? Are there other mounts you want to own? Do you already have other status symbols?

As far as gold making plans go, it would be nice to hit gold cap again in the future. I have acquired most of the mounts that I was after, in the game. My favorite TCG mounts that I have are my Magic Rooster Egg, Corrupted Hippogryph, Blazing Hippogryph, Feldrake & Swift Spectral Tiger.

What makes the Spectral Tiger so special? And when you got it, did you celebrate in any particular way?

I think what makes Spectral Tigers so special is simply how much of a status symbol they are. They are definitely something that most people have to work towards. Most players don’t end up acquiring them. I was very excited and couldn’t believe that I finally got my Spectral Tiger. I spent the rest of the night running around Shrine of Two Moons on my new mount.

Do you have any special gold making tips that you would like to share?

Stay focused on your goals. Be as dedicated as you can be. Don’t spend gold if you absolutely don’t need to.

What are your future plans with WoW?

I spent a long time focused on raiding progression and while I enjoyed that for a time, I am mainly focused on enjoying myself in the game now. I really enjoy the Twitter community. I might get back into PvP but mostly just focused spending time with my guilds in whatever capacity that ends up being. The guild Untold Prophecy on Zul’jin US is like family to me & I have recently started casually raiding with the wonderful people in Halcyon on Velen US.

Anything else to add?

There are many ways to make gold in the game whether you play the auction house, sell challenge modes or farm old raids. While this is what worked for me, other people might prefer other gold making methods. I truly believe that you can get any of the rare mounts in the game that you want as long as you are willing to put in the time, effort and dedication. It might feel like it’s taking forever to make gold, some days… but don’t lose hope.

Anything else to add?

I’ve had an awesome time with gold making, I always thought it would just be tedious but it really is so much fun. And as I think I’ve mentioned, the gold making community is great as well.

Thanks Roxi, and welcome to the Spectral Tiger Owners Club!

Tiny Goldfish

Really quick flip (buy low, sell high) tip for you today.  The Tiny Goldfish battle pet.

Buy for 200g from Nat Pagle in Kraserang Wilds, Pandaria.

Requires Honored with Anglers faction

Sell for 2,000g on the AH

Screenshot_32

Yeah he does look a bit drunk to me

Learn the pet, right click to cage it, and put the caged version on the AH to sell.

Screenshot_35

The ‘raw’ unused item requires Honored with The Anglers faction, to buy and to learn.

The learned and re-caged pet does NOT require reputation.

Screenshot_37

Screenshot_38

I think you can get about 2,000g from it, but it will be a slow seller.

Out of interest, how do you cage a fish?

Reverse Engineering a Sale

Players come to me on twitter or email me and ask “where can I get lots of gold?” and I have to tell you guys:

“you’re doing it wrong”.

You’re thinking from the end goal, rather than the methods!

I think of making gold from the reverse.

  • Who has the gold that I want?
  • What do they want in return for that gold?
  • Where can I get that item/s?
  • What are the barriers I face, and how can I get around them?
  • How can I give to the customers, and therefore get gold in return?

panthy

Example: Reverse Engineering Living Steel

This is one of many many potential items that could be acquired, and sold.   Maybe Living Steel is a no-go on your server.  There are thousands of other items you could reverse engineer.

  1. Wowtoken is released
  2. Therefore players might have more disposable income and be able to buy high price item such as Vial of the Sands and …
  3. Panther Mounts!
  4. You can check this by watching trade chat, seeing what people are WTB, and checking volume of sales in the Auction House.
  5. Panther mounts all need Mists of Pandaria gems (Sun’s Radiance, River’s Heart, Primordial Ruby, Wild Jade) plus serpents eye (very common item from jewelcrafting), a vendor item plus Living Steel.
  6. Living Steel is not something that Jewelcrafters will all have easy access to, unlike the gems. Research shows that the mats are Trillium Bar and Spirit of Harmony, and it’s made by Alchemists.
  7. So then we quickly look at Trillium Bar and Spirit of Harmony.   Of course, my server/s aren’t the same as your servers and their availability and prices, but we can make an educated guess that there is less trillium and motes of harmony available now that Warlords of Draenor is released and less players are farming Mists of Pandaria content.
  8. I would check the AH for trillium and motes of harmony and look for ways to acquire these.  Are they flippable? Can you buy motes and turn them into spirits?  Can you farm the trillium? Do you have a friend who would like a few gold in exchange for doing that farming for you?

Research into White Trillium using The Undermine Journal on my server

Looks like a wide range of prices.  Could be flippable?

Screenshot_20

Researching Motes of Harmony

Screenshot_21

At first glance, it looks like you could buy those 5g motes of harmony, make them into spirit of harmony (cost 50g) and resell for 70g with 20g profit.

That is until you check the global sale price of Spirit of Harmony and find out that it normally sells for 33g, and the undermine journal shows that the quantity is rising and prices falling.

Screenshot_23

Screenshot_22

These Spirit of Harmony sellers are just trying to take the mickey with their 200% prices.

Wait a minute, where else can I get Motes of Harmony?

Screenshot_24

This guide is NOT “go back to your Tiller’s Farm”, after all, 16 motes of harmony does not make you rich, you would make more motes farming Guo Lai Halls or Sra Vess. But I do want you to encourage you to look at gold making from the other way around.

Flip your gold making into reverse.  If you want to be rich in real life, you could find out what is the job that pays the most in the world (Sultan of Brunei?) then decide to become a Sultan, and wonder why you failed.  Or you could find out what people want to buy, and then sell it to them, and repeat the process until you have money.

Start with providing a service, a trade, something useful. Give, and then take. Not stand there, demanding.

Screenshot_47

Your takeaway from this blog post:  Instead of asking “how can I farm gold?” ask “how can I serve, and profit from it?”

Here comes the tweetable!

Return to Mists of Pandaria: Treasure Finding for Gold

Farming the treasures of Pandaria

Pandaria Treasures (lost and found/relic hunter) offer a range of items, from Bind on Account, to items for professions, to grey poor quality items with vendor prices of 100g each.

Some of the treasures give XP, which can be increased by rested bonus.

You can do this farm on each character.

Sometimes you have to click on chests, critters, items, or mobs.

How much gold can you farm?

About 2,000g just for picking up items from the ground and clicking treasure items.

Each item can be looted/interacted with only once per character. If you have 11 characters, you can do this 11 times.

Who is this guide for?

Players who used their level 90 free boost to create a level 90 character who has therefore never been to Pandaria

or

Players like me who did half of them as they leveled, then moved on.

Multitasking while farming Pandaria Treasures

Prices for MoP dust, herbs, ore and even leather is currently low

However, if you have a Miner and Jewelcrafter, then mine the ore, and prospect it, as the gems sell well for JCs making the MoP Onyx Panther mounts.

Alternatively, take your Skinner, and instead of putting the raw leather on the AH, have your Leatherworker turn those Exotic Leather into Misthide Leggings and vendor them.
