Preparing your Legion Professions – Fishing
Enjoying the Garrison Fishing raids?
Lots of players have been taking advantage of the personal-loot-in-groups change in World of Warcraft Patch 7.0 to band together in a raid group and get fishing together.
With up to 40 players fishing in one garrison, each cavedweller murloc that spawns gives loot to every player in the raid.
We have 40 times the amount of fish being produced on each server/realm.
The murlocs are also giving a whole host of different grey items with fun flavor texts. A select few of these are rare enough or fun enough that they can be sold on the auction house. Some can even be used by level 1 bank alts.

You can also fish up a Compass toy which price is currently dropping like crazy on the Warcraft AH. When the garrison fishing trend seems to be coming to a close (perhaps on August 9th when Demon Hunters launch?) this would be a good time to start scooping up the very cheapest of these BoE toys on the Auction House.
I picked up over 1,500 primal spirits fishing in garrisons this week!
Nat’s Lucky Coin
Murlocs are also dropping lots of fish flesh, fishing items (like temporary rod and fun hats), and some of Nat’s Lucky Coin.
For players with a level 3 fishing shack in their garrison, Nat Pagle offers to sell items, depending on how much of a friend he considers you. (Personal reputation with NPC.)
What to buy from Nat Pagle

- Land Shark, 50 Nat’s Lucky Coin, Good Friends. BUY THIS AS MANY AS YOU CAN! Land Shark is one of the items in my stockpile list!
- Reins of the Crimson Water Strider, 100 Nat’s Lucky Coin, Best Friends. DONT BUY THIS unless you are a mount collector or you don’t have the Azure Water Strider from Mists of
- Pandaria expansion.
Worm Supreme
If you’re able to join one of the fishing groups, keep your worm supreme that drops, to help you with +fishing in Legion. That extra +200 fishing will help you find the rare Legion fish faster (hint – fish in the schools, and only in the schools!), and then to gain the Artifact Fishing Pole faster. One of the abilities on the fishing rod gives a little extra Blood of Sargeras, which will help your other professions in Legion.
If you’re not able to join one of the fishing groups, and you don’t have Nat’s Draenor fishing rod, then get hold of the very cheapest of the Worm Supreme on the AH. Or ask your fishing guildies to donate their leftover worms. Don’t spend too much, and just pick off the very cheapest. There should be a lot of cheap fishing items on the Warcraft Auction House right now.
What to do with all the fish
Cook “feast of the waters” and hope for a lil’ leftovers.
Use the feasts when leveling your alts in Legion. No one will ever go hungry again!
Lil Leftovers is a pet you can get when cooking, currently valued at 3,000g or so on the AH, but very likely to rise in price considerably once it becomes almost impossible to collect.

Preparing for Legion Angling
- Get your character up to 700 fishing. Easy to do, and more fun in a group.
- Check you have lures in your bag ready to go.
- “Cook” some Captain Rumsey’s Lager if you have the recipe.
- Check out some of the fishing addons like Fishing Buddy, available through Curse.
- Get the Angler’s Raft if you can. It became a toy in Patch 7.0, but can only be used by characters with the right reputation. While you’re in Krasarang Wilds, Pandaria, don’t forget to multitask!
- Grab a +20 Strong Fishing Rod from fishing vendors if you don’t have a better one.
- Use the next few weeks before Legion launches to check out the Fishing Tournaments for useful fishing prizes (fishing line, hat, boots, ring).
- Search out some fun music to listen to while fishing in Legion. If you usually turn it off, consider the in-game music. Or line up a playlist on spotify/youtube/whatever. I prefer not to watch a movie at the same time because I like to keep my eye on the fishing line. I do recommend some of the radio plays from BBC iplayer – it’s like having a free audio book!

How the New Loot Rules in 7.0 Can Triple Your Drops
New loot drop changes in 7.0 had an awesome effect on your chance to get rare and expensive loot!
Previously, one character kills one mob gets one opportunity to loot an item/s from that mob’s loot table.
New personal loot means that if there are 2, 4, or 40 people in that group, then each person gets their own chance to loot something from that mob’s loot table.
1/2, 1/4 or 1/40th of the effort, for the same reward.
Choose to make 1/2, 1/4 or 1/40 of the effort for the same reward, or step up your farming to your normal effort and get double, triple or 40 times the chance for loot!
Eat alone ….. Or share with friends
Farming the Riding Turtle mount in your Garrison.
How:
One person summons the Lunarfall/Frostdeep Cavedweller murloc for a chance at the riding turtle.
Or 40 people summon the murloc, giving 40 chances, meanwhile the next person has already caught the next Cavedweller and the next chance has been presented!
Where:
- Garrison, by your level 3 fishing shack.
Open World Transmog Farming
How:
One person kills a mob and gets one chance at an item from the loot table.
or 5 people kill a mob and there are 5 chances at an item from the loot table.
Works best if the mobs are FAST respawning.
NO realm hopping ability, though, because you’re in a group,
Where:
- Den Whompers Cave in Thousand Needles
- Stonetalon Mountains farm spot
- Feralas farm spot
- Outdoors farm spots
- Essence of water farm spot in Swamp of Sorrows
- Sha Crystal farming on Timeless Isle

Or: Anywhere you can think of that has fast respawning lootable mobs that you would normally struggle to kill quickly due to physical distance.
How to Get Piles and Piles of Loot
Make a group with your Loot Appraiser Challenge friends (if you normally use this addon)
Look for a group in Group Finder
World Mob tagging
This also works on rare mobs, and is extremely effective for those with a 100% drop rate.
Party of 5 players tagging Alani (you must allow all 4 other party members to hit!) in Vale of Eternal Blossoms, using one Sky Crystal (from 10 Sky Shards) will yield one mount EACH. That’s 4 Reins of the Thundering Ruby Cloud Serpent you could sell!

Tome of Illusions is new to Patch 7.0
They are learned, crafted and sold by Enchanters.
Players who buy the Tomes will learn the weapon enchant appearances for transmog.
Players with the learned weapon illusion appearances can change the look of their weapon enchant look at a transmogrification NPC.
Material cost of the transmog pieces are high right now due to high demand for the crafted tomes.
Enchanters can learn the Tome of Illusions at their normal enchanting trainer except for three tomes.
1: Tome of Illusions: Draenor. Take one ‘secrets of draenor enchanting’ to your enchanting trainer in Warspear / Stormshield in Draenor.
2: Tome of Illusions: Secrets of Shado Pan. buy from Rushi the Fox at Shado Pan Garrison, Pandaria. Requires Revered reputation.
3: Most difficult to obtain is the Tome of Illusions Elemental Lords
For this enchant, you need to complete a quest which starts at Therazane in Deepholm.
You will need:
- Remnant of Fire from Ragnaros in Firelands
- Remnant of Air from Al’kir in Throne of the Four Winds
- Remnant of Water from Neptulon in Throne of the Tides
- and revered with Therazane.
Tome of Illusion Prices range from 75,000g EACH down to 1,500g. Still an awesome profit.
Here, The Undermine Journal shows the price of Tomes slowly decreasing as the supply increases.
How to get Tome of Illusion materials
Once you have learned the Tomes, the materials can be found using farming best practices across Azeroth:
Disenchanting soulbound weapons and armor that you have now learned and
To check if your items are learned, use the addon “Can I Mog It” downloadable from Curse
Search for items on the Auction House that can be disenchanted into shards and crystals for cheaper than materials cost. Use the Trade Skill Master shopping tab “crafting” option. Sort by target price per item.
Look through all your banks and reagent banks.
For Draenor gems, don’t forget that you can prospect white and black trillium. If you have an alchemist with transmute spec, it can be a good idea to prospect ghost iron ore instead, and send the small gems to your alchemist to transmute with golden lotus.
For primals, head to Dealer Najeeb in Stormspire and use my cross-realm jump no-farm methods
Sha crystals can be extremely pricely.

The prices of Sha Crystals increases as the supply dries up.

For Sha Crystals, head to Timeless Isle and farm the rares there for armor tokens. Convert these tokens to armor, and disenchant.
Use a server hop / cross realm addon to jump from server to server to get to the rares quicker and save you having to wait on respawns.
While you are there, check out some of the other Timeless Isle goodies you can find.
Other rare materials you might need, such as Essence of Water, it’s a good idea to search for the item on WoWhead, and check whether the item is easily farmable, or whether your time is best spent on farming something else to pay for the purchase of materials in the Auction House.

Blood of Sargeras ” … and Relax”
The Blood of Sargeras issue just would not go away, and World of Warcraft devs treated us to a Twitch Live Q&A especially on Professions.
Josh Allen, aka Lore, and Paul Kubit hosted, and sprang straight away into the Blood of Sargeras issues.

For those wondering, I also broadcast on Twitch occasionally, although I’ve had to cut back recently just like my blogging, so I can focus on researching Legion Beta and writing The Big Pro Guide!
Josh gets more and more professional every time I watch him and it was nice to meet Paul Kubit, Senior Game Designer for Professions.
Paul had previously been working on quest design in Warcraft, and this may explain why there are so many amazing quests for Professions in Legion. He wasn’t the WoD professions guy.
Paul put my mind to rest somewhat, and I’ll summarise some points here and my thoughts about them.
Blood of Sargeras
Blood of Sargeras was something I noticed early in the Alpha, originally BoE, and then becoming BoP. If you want to follow the story, do go back and read the last two posts about Blood of Sargeras.
Paul Kubit is reading feedback and wants more feedback. If you have feedback and can’t post it because you’re NOT on the beta, let me know and I’ll pass it on for you.
He said:
“Blood of Sargeras is meant to be a measure of how much you’re playing the game … it’s not supposed to be a gatherer specific item … it has been [so] on the beta [due to the] nature of beta. We’re not trying to push ‘you have to have a gatherer’.”
This was a welcome relief to me, and probably to you, that it is meant to be a measure of effort, equally, and not a reward for gatherers.
Having a gatherer/crafter character is not meant to have anything more than a minor advantage over other profession pairings. The minor advantage is meant to make up for not having a crafter to use the bloods.
They have adjusted crafter-specific world quests (eg bring a leather hat to Court of Farondis faction, receive a blood reward), to be more rewarding.
They have adjusted gatherer world quests in the opposite way.
In addition, Blood is now starting to drop from heroic bosses
Devs have also retuned some professions where some professions required more blood (eg blacksmith, leatherworking, tailoring) and some (eg alchemy, enchanting) had no need for blood. These are more equal now.
The Shoulder Enchant Boon of the Bloodhunter will require only revered with the faction Wardens, not exalted as in the current version of Beta. This is still hard to obtain but not a months-long slog.
Other Blood of Sargeras problems are being addressed as they rise, and devs *are* open to suggestions and feedback.
Obliterum
Dual gatherers who have a lot of Blood of Sargeras and nothing to use it on, will be able to use the Blood to gain Obliterum.
The Obliterum forge makes obliterum ash in a similar manner to disenchanting an item.
Obliterum is an item you get at max level increase power of crafted gear from ilevel 815 > 820 up to 850 in current patch.
Obliterum also has a Blood of Sargeras cost.
The cost was adjusted to be higher so better dump for ppl with lot of useless blood. Devs will be continuing to tune this before launch.
Unfortunately I haven’t tested Obliterum yet, as some materials required cost over 6,000,000g to purchase on the Beta.
Make Blood of Sargeras Bind on Equip or Bind on Account?
Blood of Sargeras will not become BoE because it is used in Obliterum, in order to prevent players from simply buying a wowtoken then purchasing a full set of top gear.
Devs want Blood to be a measure of your effort.
Blood of Sargeras can not become Bind on Account, even though that seems like the easiest solution, because Devs do not want players to feel forced to have a full stable of alts in order to compete with each other.
Towards the end of Warlords of Draenor, it had become almost mandatory for players to have a full set of level 100 characters and take them all one by one to kill Kazzak and loot the Felblight for the Auction House. They want to avoid this feeling of being forced to do something in order to remain equal.
Players in WoD with a lot of gold were gated from buying a full set of crafted item because of a limit on number of crafted items were equippable at once. This is lifted now, so a full set can be crafted and worn, but the level of the items is gated instead by Blood of Sargeras, a measure of your personal effort.
Still furious?
For me, as long as effort reward is equal, it does not matter whether the reward is rare or common. It was the inequality of professions pairing that made me furious. This is better now.
Gold Queen Advice
If you are starting Legion for the first time, on a fresh new alt (demon hunter!!!111) or just starting playing warcraft for the first time, take a dual gatherer to start with, and collect many Blood of Sargeras along the leveling path. You will get slightly more blood, and you’ll get extra XP too. Drop one gathering profession and take a crafting profession once you start getting into level 110 and heroics and max level battlegrounds. You will have a slight advantage, with those extra bloods, for a short time.
Dual gatherers, stay dual gathering, unless you want to be a crafter.
Tailor/Enchanters, you can now get blood from disenchanting, to use for your tailor.
Dual crafters, take the same advice as I gave in the last blog post. Look very closely at how difficult it might be to lose one crafting profession. I will be re-jigging all my dual gatherers and dual crafters except where I have irreplaceable patterns. I know that I don’t have to delete those patterns now.
Characters that can tank or heal, you should learn tanking or healing on a second spec, so that you can get into those dungeon queues faster, and make more Blood. Start practicing now with the heroics and mythics in Warlords of Draenor. If you have a choice between learning tanking or healing, then learn healing, because there will be an influx of Demon Hunters, who will be learning tanking for the same reasons as you. Do you remember the hell of Hellfire Citadel level 58 Death Knight tanks when WOTLK was released?
Other Profession Questions
You can watch the full live stream at the link above, until it goes out of date. Here is some Professions points that will help gold makers:
Fishing: The artifact does NOT require you to fish up all the new coins in the new fountain in Dalaran in order to start a quest line. There will, however, be a quest line and it is being kept under wraps at the moment. “Having hidden things in the world keeps things fun”
Tailors: There will be no new bags in Legion (yet?) so Hexweave Bag remains very important to sell. Shal’dorei cloth will drop from humanoids which you can grind, no need for a “legion barn”.
Patches: More recipes and quests will be added in Legion Patches. Archaeology for example has a questline that rolls out over time.

Angry In-Game Mails
We have all had Angry Mails ingame, whether deservedly when we’ve sniped an item for 1% of its value, or undeservedly when competitors are deliberately trying to intimidate you out of their market.
This blog post deals with what you can do when those angry competitors go to further lengths to intimidate, threaten or harass you.
Remember: Your competitor is only salty because he is jealous. His jealousy is not your responsibility.
Action
Some tips on remaining classy in the face of schoolyard bulllies:
Begin by ignoring him. He is no now longer worth of your time or attention.
Continue to act ethically. Continue to charge a good honest price for your items, and continue to treat your competitors with honour.
Remember that a rich competitor is ONE purchase away from being your rich buyer.
The guy has envy and that is his problem. Pity him. Then pay him no more attention.
You can find his alts and block them on Warcraft.
Use separate warcraft accounts, use separate alts, misdirect his attention by acting as several people.
If he harasses you ingame: report him to a GM.
If he harasses you and follows you to other parts of the internet, report him there, to twitter, to twitch, to facebook, and wherever else he is harassing you. Harassment is not ok and you do not have to put up with it.
If harassment gets to the stage of stalking, you can report him to the police.
Your Fault?
Take a look at yourself and make sure that you are acting confidently and not arrogantly. Are you playing the Auction House to get gold, or are you actually wanting to get negative attention? Some players actually enjoy irritating their competitors and live off those salty tears! If you want to create envy and irritation and you have purposefully used your gold and time to invite envy and trolling, then you have achieved your goal. Jog on.
Is it Stalking?
Probably not, but never take the chance.

“Whup Ass”
If your guild mates or friends offer to “have a word” with your harasser, do not allow them. Do not inflate the issue. Do not become a harasser in return.
Remain calm. It is a compliment that you are large enough to be seen as an important target.
All the time he puts into harassing you is time that he is not putting in to your markets. Concentrate on your gold making.

Garrison Gold Guide Closing
I want to give you a heads up that the Garrison Gold Guide is closing. We’ve had some great times, milking our garrison and our shipyard for thousands and millions of gold, but changes in Patch 7.0 make our garrison much less lucrative.
I want to focus on Legion gold guides going forwards.
