Every profession can make a profit
This should have been written into your mantra from day one of your adventures in Azeroth. We have talked about it many times how each profession can make some profit (yes even Fishing and Engineering).
Even the quasi profession of Pet Battling can make a profit. It just takes some planning and some time to rake up major gold.
Bring On the Gold Making Knowledge
My Pet Battling profits started by leveling one of my pets to level 25. The reason this is important is because you cannot add to your journal any level 25 pets that are purchased until you have hit level 25. In this case I leveled up my Anubisath Idol. He dropped for me on one of my runs through Temple of Ahn’Qiraj. Took me about 3 hours to level (I took my time over the weeks, so that would be three hours of actual pet battling time). During this time I also added to my collection through the different leveling zones.
After he hit level 25 I picked up a couple of pets that I knew could be repackaged and sold. When looking for the future captives of other battlers I wanted the more rare pets that people weren’t stacking on the AH. This cut out a lot of the holiday pets and easily purchased pets. I decided to power level my Ghostly Skull (found in the Dalaran sewers). While power leveling him from level 1 I dropped in one of my higher level pets to protect just in case there were issues with taking on the wrong type of pet.
Leveling Bobtheskull (yep, that’s what I named him) took about an hour and a half. The basic idea is to throw him quickly into the ball from the start, let him have one round (and make sure he survives) then drop the hammer for one of the higher leveled pets. After you win all of the pets that are used in combat receive the XP (and any bonus XP for the pet being a higher level).
How Your Server Works With Pet Gold Making
Profiting with Bobtheskull is where you have to learn the way your server works. If you have a strong pet battling group then you can drop your newly minted level 25 on the market for the going rate plus a premium for the time it took to level your toon. The rarer the pet is, the higher the sales price the pet should be put in. So a pet such as Lil’ Bad Wolf from Karazhan should be placed at a higher cost than one that can be purchased and sold quickly.

Two Paths to Gold Greatness
There are two paths you can take when selling your pets. You can go for the quick turnover on sales. If it takes your pets an Avg of an hour of game time to level and you sell them quickly then you are filling the need quickly. The problem with this theory is that there is a limited amount of players willing to pay for higher level pets. Once that quota is full (the ones that actually have the money to spend on a luxury item) then the sales will dry up.
Cutting Your Time Down in Pet Gold Making
World quests can offer Pet Charm. These are also offered at your class hall missions board as well as random drops with pet battles. If you look at a class hall missions that offers pet charms. Your goal is to get the bonus item with the Pet Charm missions that offer bonus charms. Some of them add up to 25 charms if completed.
25 Pet Charms will buy you a Ultimate Battle Training Stone from Lio the Lioness
In Dalaran (there are other places you can purchase them but this is the most central)
This jumps your pet to level 25 with just the amount of time that was spent finishing and completing the Class Hall Mission.
A Rare Pet to a Profitable Rare Pet
From Lio the Lioness you can also purchase Marked Flawless Battle Stone which will
Increase many of your pets worth when going on the Auction House.
The other thought process is to make sure that the pet is going for a higher price. Even at 10x the sales cost of a lower level pet. This will put a higher amount of profit in your pocket and still keep the demand intact. Basic sales technique says that if your item is continually out of stock then you raise the price to meet the demand.
Expanding your Gold Making Horizonm
You can expand these ideas to your farming for those that one an extra type of income. Paying a premium for your farming group for resalable pets can allow you to keep a different revenue stream together without tying up all of your time. The important thing is to keep an eye on how your pet sales market is functioning. A poor pet battling server can have you placing highly profitable pets on the market and having to list them time and time again. A strong market can allow you to resell pets and even look at flipping pets that are listed by unaware sellers of their value.
Gold Profit Making Pyramid
Expanding your profit pyramid into Pet Battle sales can give you another road to profit as your other professions begun to wind down with the end of the Legion expansion

About the Guest Writer
Mommar began making gold his way in Azeroth 8+ years ago. Soon he took his menagerie of crafters and gatherers all the way to the legion HQ and beyond. I’ve always believed in helping people if they ask and showing people that you do not have to be a Goblin Engineer to make gold in World of Warcraft. Many of the lessons I’ve learned in obtaining gold in WoW I’ve also adapted to my personal life. I have gained and spent over 8 million gold. Spending on personal items and helping my guildmates. Dancing on Azerothian mailboxes for gold tips is just a hobby. I believe that everyone can make gold if they want to!

But you don’t want the work of finding out which followers are the best for your setup? The maths, the comparisons, my head hurts just thinking about it.
Jabari11 has done all the hard work for you, and posted the perfect Legion Order Hall Follower guide on reddit.
Finally, Lon Measley has put out a Class Order Hall, updated for Legion 7.3, which includes Argus Followers and Missions.
Hope this helps you with your Legion Order Hall.

Winter Veil 2017 Gold Guide
Gold Making Event
Dates 16th December 2017-4th January 2018
Small Eggs
Selling Small Eggs is an eggsellent (!) way to learn some basics of goldmaking:
I published a guide on how to farm small eggs this year, read it here.
Looking into Small Egg selling can teach you so many useful lessons for gold making on your server:
- Whether to choose farming or buying from the auction house and flipping (reselling)
- Whether to hoard them and sell them all on christmas day, when many players log on and don’t want to work
- Whether to sell them in stack sizes of 1, 2, 5, 20, 100. (Clue, I chose stacks of 5)
- Whether you have competitors in this field, and whether they are also hoarding them and learn how early or late during an event they put them on the AH
- Should you sell eggs or bake them into cookies for Greatfather Winter?
- For me, I know my gold making competitors stock up very early and will put them in the Auction House very early, maybe 2 weeks before Winter Veil even starts, and they will have such a large stock that the price will actually start falling from this time. I also know that the last thing I want to be doing on Christmas Day is standing at the Auction House cancelling, reposting, undercutting, cancelling, reposting, all day long. On the other hand, some NA realms (USA) have much fewer dedicated gold makers and you can still make a fortune all the way through Winter Veil, and especially on 25th December. In order to find out which type of server and what competitors you have, you need to watch the prices of Small Egg on your server, preferably 3-4 times per day, in the next week. Are they going up or down? How many are available?
Even if you do not profit from the Small Egg flipping, you can still learn what type of server and what competitors you have, and use that information for the next event.

Ice Cold Milk
Too lazy to flip Small Eggs?
Buy Ice Cold Milk from the vendors (innkeepers) nearby for 25 copper, sell for as much as you can get.

Minion of Grumpus

Over in Draenor you have another gold making opportunity.
For this you need a level 3 Garrison, and preferably Draenor flying, although it’s not essential. Upgrade a level 1 garrison using garrison resources from the garrison cache besides your town hall.
First you need to get “Merry Supplies” Merry Supplies can be acquired by completing 4 daily quests. You pick these quests up in your Garrison from Pizzle and Almie and they send you to Frostfire Ridge. Do all these quests together at once. One set of daily quests will award 5 Merry Supplies.
5 Merry Supplies can get you a Savage Gift, which has a chance to have Minion of Grumpus inside.
The best time to sell Minion of Grumpus mounts is August 2018 onwards.
Graph from The Undermine Journal

Instead of Savage Gifts, you could buy a Crashin’ Trashin Killdozer Controller which sells for a lovely 30-40,000g from June 2018 onwards

Reckles from WTBGold has this video to explain that Elixir of the Rapid Mind is no longer available from Savage Gifts (2017 onwards)
Crafting Winter Veil Clothes
You can profit at Winter Veil by crafting Winter Veil clothes.
Green Winter Clothes, Red Winter Clothes, Winter Boots, Green Holiday Shirt
These are Tailoring and Leatherworking patterns.

For the Advanced Gold Maker, travel up the crafting chain to discover the requirement of “Bolt of Woolen Cloth”, and “Bolt of Runecloth”.
Buy the raw cloth, turn it into bolts and put it on the Auction House.
Flipping Wrapping Paper
Flipping means buy low, resell high.
Check out my guide here. Wrapping paper sells consistently through the year!

Grumpling Pet Farming
Frostfire Ridge
As well as making gold from the Savage Gifts and Minion of Grumpus, while you are completing the Frostfire Ridge Draenor Winter Veil quests, make sure to pick up every last snowball that you see.
Not only do the snowballs themselves sell, but you can also pick up a pet Grumpling
The Snow Mounds can be farmed while in a party or raid.
Use druid flight form to loot without needing to mount/dismount, and to quickly avoid combat.
Remember, the Grumpling pet will drop in price as supply increases. But you can overcome that by either
- waiting for supply to end (end of winter veil),
- waiting even longer (April 2018- November 2018),
- selling them quicker, or
- leveling them to 25 and increasing their value

Grumpling supply/prices
Other Pets from Winter Veil
Farm or buy these pets at level 1, and use either your “Squirt Menagerie Day”, or level them up through other methods.
I like leveling them in my daily pet battles or power leveling them at Vale of Eternal Blossoms in Pandaria.

Frozen Orb Quick Flip in Dalaran
This quick flip sales procedure takes place in Northrend Dalaran.
It teaches you not only to look at old content, but to look at the values of items in comparison to each other.
It will make you think “what else could I flip this easily?”
Flip To buy an item at a low price, then resell it at a high price.
Go to Dalaran Northrend
If you don’t have Jaina’s Locket and you aren’t a Mage to portal direct to Dalaran Northrend, then take the Dalaran Broken Isles Portal to Pandaria, then grab the Dalaran portal from there.

At your faction-specific <Legacy Justice Quartermaster> buy Frozen Orbs for 60g (more depending on your wotlk rep). This NPC is in your faction building. Here’s the alliance one.
Find Frozo The Renowned <Frozen Orb Trader> in the Commerce Exchange area.

With Trade Skill Master installed, or another auction house addon, you can mouseover each of the items that Frozo sells to see which items are profitable. Those over 60g will be a profit. For me, today, that’s Eternal Fire, and Eternal Water. Avoid Eternal Earth like the plague.
You can use TSM4 to post the items you bought. If they’re not in a group, click the “Base Group” to include it. Choosing “Auctioning” then click “Run Post Scan” bottom left.

With Auctionator, left click the item in your bag to quickly populate the Sell Tab with your Eternal Fires. In this instance, I could be cheeky and over-cut and sell at 430g, ignoring the 114g items, but I’m just looking for a quick profit, not getting into complicated AH “pvp”.
Here are some sales from yesterday

Here’s the TSM4 Ledger. I’ll be blogging more about TSM4 soon(tm).

Farming Small Eggs for Winter Veil Gold Making
Small Egg sales are hot every year. Every November/December is the time to farm them.
You can gather these from low level birds.
Dragonhawk Hatchlings Eversong Woods <- Best for everyone
Fleshrippers in Westfall <- Easiest location for Alliance
Moonkin in Azuremyst Isle <-Best if your server is busy
Hinterlands Moonkin <- if you prefer an exotic location

Eversong Woods Small Egg Farming Route from Wowhead
Selling Small Eggs on the Auction House

You can either set up a TSM group, or sell them “by hand” using Auctionator addon. You can find both addons at Curse/Twitch.
It’s not even December, and Small Eggs are starting to sell. Don’t settle for less than double the price you paid for them!
Why small eggs?
They are used in a recipe for Gingerbread Cookie. The gingerbread cookie, in turn, is cooked and given to Greatfather Winter in Orgrimmar or Ironforge as a quest.
Small Egg Stack Sizes
Sell Small Eggs in stacks of 5, as 5 are needed to cook the 5 cookies. Alternatively, to be really greedy, sell them in stacks of 4, forcing players to buy 2 x stacks of 4.
If you have an uneven amount of eggs, sell the remainder in “stacks” of 1.
