GoldScore Introduced in Battle for Azeroth

Our Gold Making writers have been nosing around Battle for Azeroth and found something that will excite every reader – the new GoldScore.

First we found the GoldScore Lounge, but this was closed off, so we nosed around the new build data and found GoldScore!

Only accessible to players who have got the achievement, we found both the Alliance and the Horde Lounges in Battle For Azeroth beta.

It looks like a room that’s accessible for players with the achieve.

We couldn’t see what was inside but Gold Dragon is going to transfer some gold across later today and check what’s inside!

When you get the maximum GoldScore you get an ingame achievement!

You get this for getting the maximum liquid gold on ONE character.

Doesn’t include (personal) guild bank gold

Max is 10m Liquid Gold

This allows you into the GoldScore Lounge and awards you a title!

When you get a GoldScore of over 9000 (quite easy to do with World Quests) you can access the Auction House.

I’m pretty sure that the AH text is just a placeholder.

Farming Khorium Ore in Warcraft

Farming Khorium

Khorium ore is a rare ore that spawns in Adamantite nodes in Outland, the Burning Crusade continent in World of Warcraft.

 

Best place to farm Khorium Ore in World of Warcraft

Hands down: Nagrand, Outland.

Get yourself an ore/herb mapping addon like Gatherer or Gathermate and find your route and get flying.

Mine every mineral vein that is not Khorium vein.  When you mine an Adamantite node, it can respawn as a Khorium ore node and be available to mine next time you fly past.

Nagrand is ideal for this because there are so many adamantite ore spawn spots which can repop as a khorium ore vein.

You’ll collect loads of adamantite ore from the veins when you are hunting for Khorium.

 

What to do with your Adamantite

Once upon a time I would encourage you to prospect Adamantite to hunt for Golden Draenites.  Now it looks like these are being removed from the flying carpet mount in Battle for Azeroth, so prospecting is not quite as profitable as it once was.

Instead try some blacksmithing and engineering work:

Farming More Khorium Ore

If you get bored of Nagrand, other places to farm are Shadowmoon Valley and Sunwell Isle.

I do well in Sunwell Isle, probably because no one else goes there. If your Sunwell isle is not lucky for you, try the Shadowmoon Valley (Outland) route.

You can also sell Khorium Scopes and Khorium Cores which are engineering parts and used for further crafting.

Buying Khorium Ore for Resale on the Auction House

Notice the little (!) next to the Standard Deviation value? It means all sorts of things, but to us as goldmakers it signals GOLD.  This is a price that is volatile and fluctuates wildly. That means you can get Khorium Ore cheaply on the AH and you can sell it for a high price.

Buying a cheap item and reselling it for a higher price is called ‘Flipping’

With these particular figures I’d be looking to Buy Khorium at 962g (current) minus 331g (std dev) = 600g ish.

With these figures, I’d be looking to sell Khorium between 1343g (highest number in information) and 1500g  (Mean, rounded up by approx the std dev).  1340g-1500g

Scrapper Materials Recycling Comes to Azeroth

Wowhead have datamined [Scrapper] in Battle for Azeroth world of warcraft expansion.

The Scrapper is similar to the obliterum forge in Legion, similar to disenchanting, and similar to the Salvage Yard in WoD Garrisons.

Your Scrapper returns approx 50% of your raw crafting materials when you Scrap the item.

How could this work? If you are a blacksmith and it costs 10 (BfA ore*) to craft the item, you could get 1-10 ore returned to you when you take the item and Scrap it.

Remember this is still Battle for Azeroth Beta and betas can and do change before going live.

We still do not know if this works for Battle For Azeroth items, or items that you have crafted yourself, Bind on Pickup or Bind on Equip items.

It would be amazing if this worked for all BoE items, green (uncommon), blue (rare) and purple (epic) items from every expansion.

It would be more typical of Blizzard to make this for Bind on Pickup, Battle for Azeroth items only.

Time will tell.

 

Talking of time, I managed to tweet this out two days ago, calling for this ability to be included!  I rarely manage to predict things, so I’m feeling a little bit proud of myself today.

Posty, regular reader, says that “it kinda looks like it’s made by blacksmith or engineer”.  I’d like it to be made by engineers, and fairly cheaply, but it could also just be a part of the world like an anvil or regular forge.

 

Implications for Professions in Battle for Azeroth

If Scrapper works only for Battle for Azeroth items, then this will lead to an INCREASE in availability in raw BfA mats such as *Monalite Ore, Achunda’s Bite, Star Moss, Riverbud, Coarse Leather, Sun-Bleached Linen, Mistscale, Storm Silver Ore/Teryllium(?) etc

As we know, an increase in availability, especially of current-expansion materials, leads to a lowering of prices.  In order to avoid a glut on the market, Blizz might decide to DECREASE the amount of mats available from gathering.

A base line value of crafted items of 50% of the raw material’s price.  For an [Imaginary Sword] that cost [10 new ore] to craft, the sword is now valued as AT LEAST 5 ore.

If the amount of materials available via gathering is decreased, then the bots will be gathering less mats, and we might see a ‘scrapping’ bot. Especially if BoE items from the AH can be Scrapped.

 

Gold making Warcraft players, be aware that if this makes it to live servers, then you could find a lot of BoE greens in your auction house for sale at prices LESS than 50% crafting prices, and therefore ready for you to make a profit.

In TSM-speak, the string you need is 50% matPrice

 

The [Scrapper] gives crafting professions their own version of ‘disenchant’.

 

Opinion

Not as good as obliterum.

Obliterum was magical.  It provided a base value for crafted items.  Crafted items could be broken down into Obliterum.  The crafted items had a base value.  That base value was connected to the base value of all the other raw materials. If one raw material increased or decreased, it would affect the value of Obliterum and obliterum steadied the whole raw materials market.

Where Obliterum went wrong is that it was used for building BoE crafted gear into more useful armor. Except that armor was trumped by gear you could farm in the newest patch farming areas, Broken Shore, Argus.

That Obliterum-type-material should have been available to every player to use. Something useful for daily quests, dungeons and raids, something like Flasks, except without the need for Alchemy.

Something like First Aid.

 

Except they gave first aid away to tailors!

BAM!!!  Sharpen Your Gold Instincts: Conversations

Ever seen that really neat item you desperately want?   

Someone carrying that [Sword of Niftiness] that would look cool if you had it?   

Heard someone say that they couldn’t afford an item or was just waiting for something to drop from a boss?    

 

Turning Words into Profits

In World of Warcraft, there are 1000’s of craftable items.  Many of them are never crafted because they are long forgotten.   This is one of many ways to energize your profits.  

 

What? Where? Why? Words to listen for

Paying attention to the words others are using in conversations can spark ideas that what can be crafted and sold in the Auction House.   A conversation that is overheard in an instance or a raid can bring about ideas.  When is the last time that you heard someone comment about a cool shield they bought from the Auction House?  Or a neat weapon that they purchased from trade. A quick look at their gear  (and any transmogrification they have made) could jet you off to one of your crafters to see if that item can be duplicated.

 

My favorite one of these is during the Ahune event during the Midsummer Fire Festival. 

On his loot table contains a very large scythe, the Frostscythe of Lord Ahune.   This is an awesome piece of gear for transmogrification duty.  

Unfortunately, it’s drop rate is abysmal.  But there is a model that is very similar to both: the Witch Hunter Harvester and Elementium Poleaxe.  

Both of these sell very well to the transmogrification crowd and anyone wanting to roleplay the Grim Reaper.

 

 

Sparking the Fires for More Gold Making Opportunities

There are other areas that can be explored simply from listening to public conversations and letting your mind switch to gold making mode.  Someone may comment that they can’t find any glyphs that are popular.  A hop, step and jump to your scribe to zip off a few glyphs for sale and you have jumped ahead of the market.

 

The exercise is not just to make a profit,  but also to see the ebb and flow of how conversations can be used to transcend the normal demand you use when you list items.  

No-one can know everything that would sell every day.  You list 100’s of items and yet a high percentage of those come back to be listed again.  Honing your instincts to jump on a deal and see where a quick gold profit can allow you to see where changes in your listing process can become sharpened to the edge of a sword.

 

So listen, learn and energize your riches.   Your mind is your best addon for Warcraft.

How To Keybind the TSM4 Macro to your Mouse Scroll Wheel

TSM4 is now in the beta stage and I am lucky enough to have a testing copy.  (It’s meant to be for testing, I mostly just break it by accident.)

TSM, Trade Skill Master, is famous for its ability to post items on the Auction House at super fast speeds. In TSM4 luckily the famous Mouse Scroll Wheel Macro set up still works!

 

How To Keybind the TSM4 Macro to your Mouse Scroll Wheel

Once you have TSM4 installed, open Trade Skill Master with the /tsm command

Where is the TSM4 Mouse Scroll Wheel Macro Keybind setup

Click the Settings button at the top right hand side

A menu appears on the left hand side: General Settings, Tooltip Settings, Accounting, Auctioning, Destroying, Inventory/Mailing, Custom Sources, Crafting, Macros, Shopping / Sniper, Vendoring, Help & Info

We want Macros. Click this tab to open it.

TSM4 Mouse Scroll Wheel Macro Keybind setup

 

You have two choices to make.

  1. Bound Actions: Which buttons would you like keybound to the mouse scroll wheel?
  2. Configuration Scroll Wheel: What modifiers would you like to add. Modifiers are what you hold down while you move the scroll wheel. This ensures that TSM isn’t activated when you use the mouse scroll wheel normally, for example zooming in and out.

In this example, I have chosen to add Shopping Buyout, Crafting Craft Next, Vendoring Sell All, Auctioning Post/Cancel.  I’ve not selected My Auctions Cancel, Sniper Buyout button and Destroying Destroy Next button.  My modifier is Control.  My mousewheel will activate the macro when scrolled up or down, and the control button held down.

You can choose whichever of the Bound Actions that you prefer.

 

Go ahead and click to create the Macro.  I already have the macro created, so TSM4 prompts me to Update Existing Macro instead.

Give it a few clicks, just for good measure and make sure the macro is created.

Use the mouse wheel macro to Craft Next in the Crafting Queue.  Once you’ve added some items to your crafting queue, and you’ve gathered the materials, scroll your mouse wheel to Craft Next.

Everyone has experienced the idiot who posts 500 stacks of herbs/ore/cloth/leather in singles, requiring our aching fingers to click-click-click-click to buy out all the items.

With TSM4 Mouse Wheel Scroll Macro, you can buy out those 500 singles with your mouse wheel keybound to the Buyout button.
