Sell the Clothes off Your Back

“Sell everything that’s not tied down. And if it is tied down, charge extra for the rope” is a famous TGQ saying.

Every gold adds up, and sometimes players go to desperate measures, taking their new toons and characters to the Auction House and selling their starter gear.

These items sell for 1c to a vendor. How much do you think they will sell for on the Auction House?

You might be surprised.

Will this really make you any sizeable amount of steady income? No. Is it funny as hell? Yes. Is it worth trying on a brand new server along will selling things like vendor items and signing guild charters? Absolutely.

Next time some level 1 beggar comes up to you and asks for gold be sure to direct them to the enchanting trainer, the city vendors, or even point to their clothes as a way to make gold.

You’ll be surprised how some will actually be desperate enough to try your advice and then they will be eternally grateful for your help.

If all else fails you can also send them here.

Sell the Clothes off Their Back

You can take this idea to the next level on an RP server.

Ask your friend to bring his character/toon with lots of space in his bags to the starter zone.  Then go through the following steps:

  1. Create a toon.
  2. Take off my gear and give it to your friend.
  3. Log off.
  4. Delete your toon.
  5. Create another.
  6. Repeat

Your friend can either put the items on the AH himself, or mail them to your main or bank alt so you can sell them on the AH.

Remember, post one at a time, and keep the spares hidden away.

Selling the Clothes off His Back

This is Thomas Yance.

You can find him in the Caverns of Time dungeon “Escape from Durnholde“. He walks between Southshore and Tarren Mill.

He sells unlimited amounts of starter gear.  You no longer need to make multiple level 1 alts.

Using a TSM group, you can apply an operation to buy instantly from the vendor (in this case, Thomas Yance), and instantly fill your bags.

Then, take your bags to the Auction House, instantly sell using the Auctioning operation.

Finally, head to your bank and store your stock.

TSM Strings for Starter Gear

Here are the TSM4 strings for the groups.

If you are still using TSM3, consider switching to TSM4. Alternatively you can still use these import strings if you remove all the “i:”

Making Warcraft Gold Without a Guild

An old way of making gold that you may have forgotten about.

Guild Hopping for Gold and Glory

Ok maybe not glory, but definitely gold.

There will be lots of new and returning players in Battle for Azeroth launch month, August 2018.

Players who need guilds, or need guild guilds.

You can profit by guild hopping. No, not moving your level 110 from your raiding guild to a new guild and back again, but there is a lot of gold to be made from guild hopping.

Have you ever seen this in trade?

[Trade] Player: “LF people to sign my guild charter, paying 100g”

Everyone has seen this at some time or another, so why not take advantage of it.

How to Make Gold Signing Guild Charters

Create a level 1 human and run him to Stormwind, and a level 1 orc and run him to Orgrimmar.  Every time you see this request, log onto your level 1 and offer your services.  Sign the player’s guild charter, receive your payment and wait until the guild is formed.

Many of the guilds will be ‘bank guilds’, guilds which are formed by an individual player who wants to be the only member so they can access the guild bank.

Other new guilds will be proto raiding guilds, baby guilds that will attract new players.

Either way, your new guild master will probably not want a level 1 in the guild, so politely take your leave.

Then repeat the process next time you see a guild charter request.

Character Slots per Server in Battle for Azeroth

The number of character slots per server in BfA is rising to 18. With your two extra slots, you will want to roll new Allied Races.

Eventually.

You can wait a month to create them, and use those slots to create level 1 characters to guild hop and collect those extra 100g-1000g that are being offered in trade chat.

Blizzard Developers Announce Major Change in Pet Charms in Battle for Azeroth

Blizzard Developers Announce Major Change in Pet Charms in Battle for Azeroth

Pet charms that are exchanged for pet stones and other pet items will be going through a major change in BfA.

  • Current Pet Charms will be known as Shiny Pet Charms
  • Polished Pet Charms will be available during Battle For Azeroth Content
  • Vendors will only be accepting the new pet charms
  • No Conversion of old Pet Charms to the new currency
  • Ultimate Battle-Training Stones will now cost 60 Polished Pet Charms

How to Obtain Pet Charms

Pet tokens are obtained currently through both pet battles, Pet trainer battles and on follower quests in Legion.     For many players, this has added to a surplus of tokens in their banks

No Exchange from Old Charms to New Charms

With the changes announced there will be no automatic conversion of tokens.

Many times previously tokens like these have been converted automatically or exchanged for gold at a set exchange rate.

But this time around they will just be unusable if unspent.

Profiting with Pet Tokens You Already Have

The highest profit margin is usually found in the Ultimate Battle-Training Stones.   This instantly raises a battle pet to Level 25.

The two vendors that most players use the most for their pet charms are found in Dalaran

Both of these vendors are going to be important to spend all of those tokens in our bank.  But one thing that really should spark some interest
is the rise in the cost of Ultimate Battle-Training Stone

image: wowhead

These Tokens instantly raise a Battle Pet to level 25.  Many of the Popular Level 25 pets sell for 100,000g or higher based on the demand of your server.

This can add a massive amount of gold power to your arsenal.   Capturing or purchasing a Level 1 pet,  adding both an Ultimate Battle-Training Stone to put it at level 25
and a Marked Flawless Battle-Stone to make it a Blue (rare) pet.

This means that using 60 Pet Charms will allow you to put a Level 25 blue pet on the AH for sale.

If you concentrate more on pets that are already rare (Many of the pets you find in Raids/Instances or are able to find during battles) will give you more chances to increase profits by allowing you to save your pet charms for higher profitable uses.

Here comes the tweetable
[bctt tweet=”I converted my pet tokens to profit from the changes in Battle For Azeroth” username=”thegoldqueen”]

Making Your Legion Class Hall Tables More Valuable

Looking at your class hall table on what missions to send your followers.

Once you have set up your Class Hall tables to give you more 200% bonus missions,  keep an eye on those pet token missions.

Where the gold missions can net you 2000 to 6000 when completed,  the Pet Charm missions which put 25 pet charms into your bags can net you up to 10x the amount of gold.

With these changes,  there will be players who won’t have prepared for the changes and end up with ‘dead’ charms in their inventory.

Changes in Pet Charms Evens Out the Pet Battle Field

Anytime a currency in World of Warcraft is reset,  it allows new players to be on the same footing as veteran players.  But players who maximize their pet tokens now and turn them in before the major change will have a large advantage going into BFA.

Good Luck and Good Gold hunting

About The Gold Dragon

The Gold Dragon is part of The Gold Queen’s royal court.  He began making gold his way in Azeroth 8+ years ago. Soon he took his menagerie of crafters and gatherers all the way to the legion HQ and beyond.  I’ve always believed in helping people if they ask and showing people that you do not have to be a Goblin Engineer to make gold in World of Warcraft. Many of the lessons I’ve learned in obtaining gold in WoW I’ve also adapted to my personal life. I have gained and spent over 8 million gold. Spending on personal items and helping my guildmates. Dancing on Azerothian mailboxes for gold tips is just a hobby.  I believe that everyone can make gold if they want to!

How to Get Cheap Herbs

Your Warcraft profits come from the difference between sales income, and cost of the materials.

For Inscription and Alchemy your materials are herbs.

The lower you can obtain your herbs, the bigger your profit will be. You’ll be able to undercut your competitor if that’s your thing.

Here’s five ways to get inexpensive herbs in Warcraft.

  1. Use Auctionator to Buy from the Auction House
  2. Hire a Farmer
  3. Always Keep Backup Inventory
  4. Use Trade Chat
  5. Snipe them with TSM4

Use Auctionator to Buy from the Auction House

Auctinonator will saves your most recent item searches in the AH, and let you set up “shopping lists”. When you click on an item to search for it, or on an entire shopping list, the scans are sorted  by lowest price per unit.

Look out on June 4th for all the Auctionator Shopping List imports you need.  If you can’t wait that long, here’s my guide to setting up Auctionator shopping lists for herbs, written back in 2011.

Hire a Gold Farmer

What, you thought that gold makers were the same as gold farmers? Farming is the art of collecting and gathering, whether that be transmog, raw gold, rare items, herbs, ore, leather or even pets!

All gold makers must know *how* to be a gold farmer.

  • In order to know where to gather them if there are none on the Auction House.
  • To understand how easy or difficult it is to gather, and what effort is required, and therefore what the relative value is of the item.
  • To take time out, down time, from the Auction House. Fishing is very relaxing, as are circular herb and ore routes.

At the time of writing, I’m looking through the latest Warcraft beta: Battle for Azeroth, to discover the herb, ore, leather, fish, and cloth drop locations and get some gathering guides up before launch day for Patreons.

Hiring farmers and gatherers is a very clever move for a gold maker.  Instead of going out to farm herbs at a generated revenue of, example, 5,000g per hour, you can busily craft with the herbs you are brought, and post them on the auction house, generating sales worth 10,000g per hour.  Leaving you with a 5,000g profit from hanging around in the city clicking buttons.

Here comes the tweetable!

[bctt tweet=”A good gold maker always has an army of gold farmers ready to gather for them.” username=”thegoldqueen”]

As you get comfortable hiring farmers,  you get a feeling for your servers prices of different mats and how low they will go in a week and how high. Take the lowest average and message farmers saying you will buy out all their stock for that much at all times.

What if you see [Example Herb] on the AH for between 1g and 2g.  Whisper the sellers who are posting large amounts of [Example Herb] and offer to buy out all their stock any time for 1g50s. If you find your stock is getting too high, whisper them again and let them know you have too much and renegotiate the price downwards.

Your farmer will love being able to just gather and send to you C.O.D. without the bother of posting on AH, or the AH cut into their sales.

Gold Queen Tip

Add the farmer to your friends list and write the agreed price in their friend note.

Contact this guy selling 4 stacks of 200

Always Keep Backup Inventory

There is no reason to not store herbs, ore, leather, meat, and all raw mats in your bank.  100g gets you access to a reagent bank, and stack sizes have moved on from the old “20” days.  You can have 200 per stack. So keep a stack or half stack of materials, depending on how often you use them.

Prices for items can go through cycles during the week, shortages of herbs when the alchemists are busy making flasks for raid times, and surplus at the weekends when casual gamers like to do a little easy farming for gold.

If you are only buying enough mats to cover your daily crafting needs and prices double overnight, you are screwed. Keep a comfortable inventory level of your most needed mats, depending on your available funds, and on how often you use the mats.

Don’t forget to regularly check your stock and adjust your buying prices.

Use Trade Chat

This one is straight forward, some of the best deals you’ll find are people looking to quickly liquidate their inventory in trade chat, you can most likely even negotiate them lower per unit if you are buying in mass quantity.

Set up a macro you can use while you’re crafting looking for materials, you’ll never know who’s looking to buy and may even get a new farmer to set up a constant supply with you at your set price.

Use TSM4 Sniper

You probably think about using TSM Sniper as a tool to grab expensive BoEs at a fraction of their value.

However, Sniper was once part of the shopping tool.  You can set up TSM to shop for herbs, but also to alert you if your item is on sale below a particular value. That includes all types of items, such as herbs.

Your herbs may well already be in TSM groups, but if not, they’re easy to add. Make one group called ‘herbs’ and then subgroups that match each inscription ink, or each expansion, as you please.

Then create a sniper operation that searches for the herb at less than 50% you usually pay, and attach it to your main herb group (and thus to the subgroups).

CHING CHING cheap herbs!

Auctionator Herb Shopping Lists

Including Battle for Azeroth herbs

It’s easy to use TSM4 but if you are an auctionator fan, here are the groups that you need.

Organised by Ink type, so they’re useful if you are a scribe looking for materials. Alternately you can think of them as organised by expansion.

How to import Auctionator Shopping Lists

Step By Step

Interact with an Auction House NPC to bring up the AH window.

TSM Users: If you’re using TSM you should already have TSM herb groups set up but if you want auctionator groups in addition, click the ‘Switch to WoW UI” in the top right.

Go to the Auctionator Buy tab, or the Auctionator Sell tab.

Choose either ‘Manage Shopping lists’ on the bottom left, or “Options” on the top right.  They both bring up the Auctionator settings.

You’ll get an interface like this. Make sure that you have selected ‘addons’, Auctionator, and ‘shopping lists’

On the right hand side you’ll see a list of all your shopping lists!

There will be a red button that says “Import”  Click it for a new window.

Cut n paste the groups in from this guide, and click ‘import’

How to Shop with Auctionator using your new Herb Shopping Lists

Navigate to the “Buy” tab at the bottom of your Auction House window

At the top left hand side, from the drop down list, choose which section of herbs to shop for. Click it, then click the red button ‘Search for all items” in the bottom left hand corner.

Here, I am searching for all the herbs that could be made into Lions Ink.

When I “Search for All Items”, it loks like Wild Steelbloom is the cheapest of these herbs, at 1g 98s each.

The green tick means that the Liferoot that I have earlier posted on the AH is the cheapest available to sell.  A red cross would mean I had been undercut.

You might notice there are 476 Kingsblood available compared to only 57 Wild Steelbloom.  I would not be surprised if this impacted the prices tomorrow.

Rare Twink Item for Horde Only

The Sinister Scimitar is an ilvl 20 rogue twink sword available from a vendor.

The vendor is Eralan in Tranquillien

Tranquillien is in Ghostlands, just south of Silvermoon and Eversong

Here comes the tweetable!

[bctt tweet=”I’m off to Ghostlands for a super secret sword.” username=”thegoldqueen”]

Price for Sinister Scimitar

The Undermine Journal lists the price between 1-2000g each.

But there is only one for sale in the whole of Europe, so you can charge anything that a buyer will pay.

Respawn Rate for the Sinister Scimitar

We’re not sure of the respawn rate of the blade, it’s quite long but must be shorter than 12 hours.  I’d suggest parking a low level alt here, and checking back every 30 minutes, more often on a busy realm.

Make sure that the drop down menu is set to all classes.  If your character is a class that wouldn’t use swords, you might not see it.

Over to you

I’m looking forward to hearing back from readers who manage to find this secret sword and sell it on the AH.  Can you get over 2,000g ?
