Show me the Golden Path
One of the items that I choose to bring in this missive is a different view when it comes to making gold. I can offer you the mechanics of making gold. Spoon feed you the ideas of what to sell and what to collect for later. I can even hand hold you (you have sweaty palms) to make a large amount of gold.
But sometimes I want you to see making gold for what it really is. It is a very personal experience similar to your crafting professions. The knowledge you have and the abilities you show in making all of those shiny piles of fun.
Making gold is an art form of sorts. This isn’t just about selling this, planting this, farming this to building a fortune. There is an art to how you build your gold empire. This may seem a little sappy for some. There are those that are sitting in their chair and chanting ‘Mommar, show me the gold’. But how you look at your gold stash is just as important as having it in the first place.
Commodities in Gold Making
If you look at your gold stash as being a commodity, then you are more apt to run out and spend it on some new shiny toy. If you look at it as a hassle, then you will be running around trying to scrape up enough for repairs. But if you look at the making and spending of gold as fine art, then you are more apt to take care of your spoils of war.
Another part of how you view your gold is how you make it through both the prosperous times as well as the lean times. As BFA (Battle For Azeroth) looks to arrive sometime next year as the next great expansion. We move into a new era, making gold might not be as easy. Players are not upgrading as often and some professions are on life support. This is that grinding time that every piece of gold becomes important. Battle For Azeroth (BFA) will be more expensive with more gold sinks that want to take your gold away. Players in the next two weeks will get 4 new races to level characters and explore the new world. That will be four times players will be switching from raiding to leveling once again. The key to your next commodity brokerage is to see this as the next great investment opportunity.
The ‘Fine Art’ of Gold Making
Fine art is appreciated over a long term. Your gold has to not only last you now, but also has to be replenished over the next expansion. Your goals, your plans and your gold making pyramid will have to be in good shape to make it through the next expansion. That fine art gets shown, protected and even insured in case the worst happens.
So start to look at yourself as the next Rembrandt of World of Warcraft. Be prepared to use your brush strokes or your crayons and make the next amount of gold making ability you have a masterpiece.

Revealed: Secret Vendor Selling Rare 5,000g+ Item For Less Than 20 Silver
Hidden away in Ashenvale Forest, is a secret vendor that sells one of the rarest patterns in the game.
This leatherworking pattern has been listed for 4779g EU and 7,648g USA
The Sky Is the Limit with the pricing of this pattern in NA
Why is this pattern so rarely seen if it is available from a vendor?
- Because you need to unlock the vendor with a quest
- Because the quest is level 23
- Because players are rarely leveling in Ashenvale
- Because the vendor is not even marked as a vendor UNTIL you unlock him with a short quest line
How to unlock the rare pattern at the secret vendor
This is an ALLIANCE ONLY pattern, sorry Horde, you need to bring your level 23+ alt.
Step 1: Find NPC Benjari Edune in Ashenvale and accept his quest to find Bolyun
Step 2: Find Bolyun in Ashenvale, hand in, and pick up the next quest
Step 3: Pick up his quest, mob will instantly spawn, kill it and hand in.
Step 4: The NPC next to Bolyun will turn into a leatherworking vendor. He has a single Pattern: Herbalist’s Gloves
Park your character at the LW Vendor for the afternoon, checking back every 30-45minutes for respawn of the pattern.
Store your patterns safely away on an alt or in the bank.
How to Sell Pattern: Herbalist’s Gloves
IMPORTANT: DO NOT POST MORE THAN ONE PATTERN AT ONCE
You will decimate the perceived market value and rob yourself of thousands of gold
IMPORTANT: DO NOT POST MORE THAN ONE PATTERN AT ONCE
Post only one pattern at a time, at 90-200% of the market value, depending on whether there are any competing patterns.
If there are no other sellers, post at 200%+ of the market value.
TSM will guide you to the market value for your realm. If you do not use market value, check The Undermine Journal and wowuction.com for the pattern prices.
If there are other sellers, undercut by only a copper.
Once this item leaks out, the prices can and WILL crash, so keep them high as long as possible, and profit from this rare item.

What is Your Gold Making Secret?
All these tips are timeless, and will last you forever.
Know your buyers:
- What they want now
- what they’ll pay
- when they’ll pay most
- what they will want next
Know yourself
- Don’t exceed your boredom threshold. Divide your time up into 15 minute segments, because anyone can do anything for 15 minutes, even farming zzzzz. Even Argent Tournament dailies zzzzzz
- Invest in your professions. Your professions will make you more gold the more you invest in them.
- Invest in your alts. Your alts work in synergy with your main, increasing your potential gold making exponentially as you add to your alt matrix.
- Invest in your reputation with buyers.
Know your tools
- Understand the addons and use them to their maximum power.
- Auctionator, trade skill master, gatherer, postal, altoholic, world quest finder, You can get them all from my guide here.
- Learn new changes to addons with a simple google search.
- Let the addons take the strain.
Know your competitors
- Respect your competitors, most of them know more than you do, and all of them have something to teach you.
- Work together. Monopolies and trading cartels are illegal in real life, but not in WoW. I don’t indulge personally, but its a legitimate opportunity.
- When your competitors beat you, learn from them and use the lesson to improve your future.
Know your “products”, ie items
- Where to get them, including crafting, farming, rare supply, or daily trade commodities
- What each of them are worth, their True Value.
- Only experience or research can serve you here.
- Learn more from reading gold making blogs, videos, guides, livestreams, websites. Ask your guild mates.
Know what wealth really is
- Coins in your pocket are no more than numbers. Pixels representing potentiality, what you could achieve or what you could buy. Therefore concentrate on what you want to achieve, not on gathering this potentiality.
- Wealth isn’t coins, its the ability to get the coins you need when you need them.
- Don’t rely on these gold coins. Increase your assets, and your ability to generate more.
- True riches is knowledge of getting what you want. Wisdom is knowing how when why to apply this knowledge.
- Don’t throw your riches away on whims and fancies. Your alt does NOT need epics at level 100. Really, he doesn’t.
- No-one likes a cheap bastard
- Time is NOT money, friend. You can always get more gold, you cannot get more time.

Opinion of TSM4 Beta So Far
The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly
The Good
Drag and Drop functionality. Quite simply gorgeous. And simple. Need something moving? Move it.
Accidentally added one too many items to the crafting queue? You no longer have to delete the whole queue and repopulate the list. You can increase/decrease the number in the queue, straight from the queue, one at a time.
Being able to sort your crafting according to profession OR by groups you’ve made
Being able to quickly switch from the Default Warcraft UI to the TSM4 UI, back and forth with one click
Crafting Reports. Only showing what you can craft immediately with the mats in your possession, and to order it according to profit. Easily add those to the crafting queue. So you only craft the items that are the most craftable.
Expired items functionality
You can see how many times an items has expired on the AH. You can filter out any item that has a sale rate below X (example, 0.2) in order to focus on popular items or to make a slow-sellers group. You could send all the slow sellers over to a “long tail” alt.
Example “If transmog is not sold after x times listed, send it to an alt for disenchanting, unless it’s better value to vendor it, because any profit is being destroyed by the posting costs”.
Even more powerful logic functions. If you’re a mathematician or a coder, and Regular Expressions are your bag. (I’m not, and they’re not!) You will love the improved power these will bring you in the auctioning operations you add to your groups. Read Muffin’s blog post for more on this.
The Sniper
It’s got pride of place at the top of TSM and works super well. If sniper has found an item that you don’t want to snipe, click it to make it go away and get out of your face! A little exclamation mark shows that it’s new. Mouseover to get your X for deleting the item from the list.
The Bad
The slooooowwww times. Probably because it’s still in development, maybe some clash with one of my other addons, who knows, but TSM4 is slowwwwww. I’ve taken to using Auctionator sometimes!
The missing parts! TMS4 currently doesn’t show items in your inventory and bank like TSM3 did. I’m told that this will be added under “Ledger” before TSM4 release.
The loss of groups! If you try TSM4 Beta right now, your new TSM4 groups cannot convert back to TSM3. So if you revert back to TSM3, your TSM4 groups are gone. Forever.

The Ugly
The TSM3 placeholder stuff
If you don’t like the Square-with-cut-off-corner look then you’re going to hate the visuals of TSM4. To me, they feel just too Star Trek 1990s
Finally, the AMAZING
Imports/Exports. The functionality that allows stuff like Sheyrah’s famous groups to be exported from her copy of TSM4 and imported into your copy of TSM4. It has been expanded and updated for TSM4.
For you that means you can much easier jump straight into TSM and cut n paste other people’s settings: their groups and associated operations.
For me that means I’m under greater pressure to produce and give you groups for free. More work!

Here comes the Gold Making Mafia
I was lounging around Orgrimmar, getting ready to run through some old raids when an interesting chat discussion came along.
Why did you post that for Gold?
Paraphrasing, two players were taunting someone else for a advertisement they had been barking for cheap glyphs. In their advertisement they bluntly stated that they wanted to crash the inscription market to bring ‘cheap glyphs to all’.
I had spoken about this before the first time that I watched an inscription market crash and burn. Of all of the different markets, inscription is really the easiest to crash. Herbs on many servers are at dirt cheap prices. Crafting hundreds of glyphs at a time. Being able to list them at inexpensive prices and still being able to net a small profit.
Crashing A Specific Gold Making Market
To crash any market you need to have a base amount of gold sitting unused. Mostly because it would be impossible once someone has bought out your first round of glyphs to have that many herbs stockpiled. I probably shouldn’t say impossible but ultimately you will run out of raw material and either has to purchase extra or go and farm them.
Here comes the Gold Making Mafia
A conglomerate of players would find crashing the market easier simply by one or two funneling the herbs into the scribe. That way the scribe can be keeping the product artificially low.
Where morally crashing a market could be seen as reprehensible, financially it can be a very strong strategy. There are 114 glyphs currently, 30 of those actually making a large amount of profit. The others end up dribbling profits since they are not in high demand. So let’s say you take the 10 highest profitable glyphs. You can live healthily off of those 10 glyphs and then crush the rest of the scribe market. Many players run away from markets that aren’t quick ‘list and profit’ type of markets. This leaves only the die-hard players who know how to fight back.
Ethical Consequences of Gold Making
There is always going to be a limit to your gold making soul of when enough is enough. With the new expansion Battle for Azeroth (BFA) coming next year and the new patch (7.3.5) introducing 4 new races to level and gear there will be enough gold making opportunities without the need to sell your soul. But where crashing a market isn’t necessary, you can keep an eye on good deals to flip (looking up the top 5 glyphs for each new race) and looking to craft those for large amounts of profits.
Markets Will Survive
Ultimately a market will snap back simply because the planning on keeping the market artificially becomes boring. Even the best of intentions will get someone only so far. But the damage has been done when a player leaves the market for easier and more fertile ground.
Battle for Azeroth will probably bring new changes to the inscription market.
Don’t let the chain rattling of someone determined to sow anarchy into the mix to remove you from the scribe market. Look at how the scribe market has always reacted to incursions and be prepared.
